Book God Didn T Have to Make the Crickets Sing

Download or read book God Didn T Have to Make the Crickets Sing written by Gail Carpenter and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2014-07-31 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever wondered about those cricketsyou know, the little black insects that rub something together to make chirping sounds when it seems extra hot and sticky? I never did. Oh, sure, I heard their chirps in the evenings when I was trying to go to sleep, and I knew that it was part of the natural world. But there was no meaning beyond thatnot until a wondrous moment when God used their melody to catch my attention. Even though I became a Christian at fourteen and loved the Lord Jesus Christ, I was heavily and passionately pursuing the American Dream with my husbanduntil it began self-destructing job by job. What do you do when dream after dream in your life is destroyedwhen there seems to be no stability or sanity? You fall apart, or at least I did. Time after time, my light turned to darkness and my hope was shattered. That was the point at which God wrote His beautiful melody and opened my heart so that I could hear it. In a beautiful, but extremely painful way, God used this destruction to introduce me to a deeper, intimate relationship with Him when I heard the songHis song. Hopefully, you will hear it too.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Courage of Success is an autobiography of how you can overcome whatever life may throw at you because, with God, all things are possible. In every area of our lives, we must possess some level of courage to succeed, spiritually, relationally, financially, physically, and mentally. It takes courage to move beyond where you currently are. I take courage to step out onto uncharted waters in faith, which is always a risk; however, when you begin to shift your thinking, the ability to conquer anything comes. Obstacles may come to block your progress and all that God had promised you, but never give up! Resilience is the key to success. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).

This book was released on 2016-01-01 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At an early age, during their development of cognitive skills, children develop a sense of curiosity about the world around them...God's creation. It is important that, as adults, we satisfy their curiosity and foster their development of analytical reasoning/critical thinking skills. This requires a sacrifice of time to search for and make available to children age- and content-appropriate educational materials that will enhance their individual mental capacity. The time to influence a child's development is today...tomorrow may be a day too late; however, better late than never. The value of providing a nourishing and conducive learning environment for children is immeasurable. My personal experience at 4 years old has been instrumental in helping me attain many of my professional goals in life. My preschool education has propelled me to reach educational goals beyond my imagination. My parents' desire to provide me with educational opportunities not generally available in my childhood community is admirable. I hope that this book will serve to inspire you, as parents, to cultivate and fulfill the curiosity inherent in your children...read to them and provide them with challenging reading material.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The inspiration for Peace and Crickets came to me one night as I sat outside in my rocking chair on my front porch. I was listening to how peaceful the crickets sounded chirping in the night. It was then that I felt like the Lord placed this story on my heart. Peace and Crickets is a beautiful story between a widowed father, whose wife died during childbirth and his only child, a daughter, Lizzy. Their journey through life together in small town Alabama is one that is filled with lots of laughter and tears. Though they both have many ups and downs through life, there is no problem that love, prayer, and a little time sitting on the front porch swing, listening to the crickets singing their nightly song can't fix.

Book A Cricket Came to Church

Download or read book A Cricket Came to Church written by Ruby E. Weeks and published by Robins Wings Publishing Company. This book was released on 2022-12-11 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One Sunday morning, where I attended church, a cricket got inside the church building. It was very quiet until we began singing, then it decided to chirp as we sang. However, when we stopped singing, the cricket decided to keep chirping. We all got very tickled at that little cricket trying to chirp while the pastor was trying to preach. The louder he spoke, the noisier that cricket seemed to get. One of the members finally picked it up and put it outside. Even though it was outside, it still chirped loud enough for us to hear it. That's how this story came about. I hope you enjoy this story. After I wrote the first part, I realized that there are those of us who know God has called us to do a work, but His timing for that particular work may not be just yet. The moral of this story is to encourage you to earnestly pray before you do anything and seek guidance from the pastor or other leaders in the church. Tell them your desire and ask if they would help you pray or for advice on beginning the work. Discuss with them what you believe the Lord has called you to do, and then continue to pray until you know God's will. It may be that what you want to do requires some experience or training before you can do your best for the Lord. Sometimes we think we are ready to do something, but when others suggest we wait a bit, we can get discouraged. I encourage you to seriously seek the Lord and keep serving Him until you know in your heart what to do. I hope this book is not only entertaining but helps someone along their faith walk. Blessings, Ruby Weeks

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In wars eighty years apart, two young women living on the same Appalachian estate determine to aid soldiers dear to them and fight for justice, no matter the cost. 1944. When a violent storm rips through the Belvidere attic in No Creek, North Carolina, exposing a hidden room and trunk long forgotten, secrets dating back to the Civil War are revealed. Celia Percy, whose family lives and works in the home, suspects the truth could transform the future for her friend Marshall, now fighting overseas, whose ancestors were once enslaved by the Belvidere family. When Marshall’s Army friend, Joe, returns to No Creek with shocking news for Marshall’s family, Celia determines to right a long-standing wrong, whether or not the town is ready for it. 1861. After her mother’s death, Minnie Belvidere works desperately to keep her household running and her family together as North Carolina secedes. Her beloved older brother clings to his Union loyalties, despite grave danger, while her hotheaded younger brother entangles himself and the family’s finances within the Confederacy. As the country and her own home are torn in two, Minnie risks her life and her future in a desperate fight to gain liberty and land for those her parents intended to free, before it’s too late. With depictions of a small Southern town “reminiscent of writings by Lisa Wingate” (Booklist on Night Bird Calling), Cathy Gohlke delivers a gripping, emotive story about friendship and the enduring promise of justice.

Book excerpt: In this “powerful debut novel,” an American relief worker falls in love with the Ivory Coast as the country descends into civil war (St. Louis Post-Dispatch). In an Ivory Coast village where Christians and Muslims are squaring off for war, against a backdrop of bloody conflict and vibrant African life, Jack Diaz—an American relief worker—and Mamadou, his village guardian, learn that hate knows no color and that true heroism waits where we least expect it. During lulls in the violence, Jack learns the cycles of Africa—of hunting in the rain forest, cultivating the yam, and navigating the nuances of the language; of witchcraft, storytelling, and chivalry. Despite the omnipresence of AIDS, he courts a stunning Peul girl, meets his neighbor’s wife in the darkened forest, and desperately pursues the village flirt. Still, Jack spends many nights alone in his hut, longing for love in a place where his skin color excludes him. Brimming with dangerous passions and the pressures of life in a time of war, Whiteman is a stunning debut and a tale of desire, isolation, humor, action, and fear.
