Book Quality Management

Download or read book Quality Management written by Mary Pellettieri and published by Brewers Publications. This book was released on 2015-10-07 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quality management for small, regional, and national breweries is critical for the success of craft brewing businesses. Written for staff who manage quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) in breweries of all sizes, this book clearly sets out how quality management is integrated into every level of operation. Author Mary Pellettieri shows how quality management is a concept that encompasses not only the “free from defect” ethos but combines the wants of the consumer and the art of brewing good beer. Breweries must foster a culture of quality, where governance and management seamlessly merge policy, strategy, specifications, goals, and implementation to execute a QA/QC program. What tests are necessary, knowing that food safety alone does not signify a quality product, adhering to good management practice (GMP), proper care and maintenance of assets, standard operating procedures, training and investment in staff, and more must be considered together if a quality culture is to translate into success. The people working at a brewery are the heart of any quality program. Management must communicate clearly the need for quality management, delineate roles and responsibilities, and properly train and assess staff members. Specialist resources such as a brewery laboratory are necessary if an owner wants to be serious about developing standard methods of analysis to maintain true-to-brand specifications and ensure problems are identified before product quality suffers. Staff must know the importance of taking corrective action and have the confidence to make the decision and implement it in a timely fashion. With so many processes and moving parts, a structured problem-solving program is a key part of any brewery's quality program. How should you structure your brewing lab so it can grow with your business? What chemical and microbiological tests are appropriate and effective? How are new brands incorporated into production? How do you build a sensory panel that stays alert to potential drifts in brand quality? Which FDA and TTB regulations affect your brewery in terms of traceability and GMP? Can you conduct and pass an audit of your processes and products? Mary Pellettieri provides answers to these key organizational, logistical, and regulatory considerations.

Book Manual of Simulation in Healthcare

Download or read book Manual of Simulation in Healthcare written by Richard H. Riley and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2008 with total page 566 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Medical simulation is a relatively new science that is achieving respectability among healthcare educators worldwide. Simulation and skills centres have become established to integrate simulation into mainstream education in all medical, nursing, and paramedical fields. Borrowing from the experience and methodologies of industries that are using simulation, medical educators are grappling with the problem of rapidly acquiring the skills and techniques required to implement simulation programmes into established curricula. This book assists both novice and experienced workers in the field to learn from established practitioners in medical simulation. Simulation has been used to enhance the educational experience in a diverse range of fields; therefore a wide variety of disciplines are represented. The book begins with a section on the logistics of establishing a simulation and skills centre and the inherent problems with funding, equipment, staffing and course development, and promotion. Section two deals with simulators and related training devices that are required to equip a stand-alone or institution-based centre. The features, strengths, and weaknesses of training devices are presented to help the reader find the appropriate simulator to fulfil their training requirements. There is a guide to producing scenarios and medical props that can enhance the training experience. The third section covers adult education and it reviews the steps required to develop courses that comply with 'best practice' in medical education. Teaching skills, facilitating problem-based learning groups and debriefing techniques are especially important to multidisciplinary skills centres that find themselves becoming a centre for medical education. The manual concludes with guides for the major specialties that use simulation, including military, paediatrics, CPR and medical response teams, obstetrics, and anesthesia.

Book Revolutionizing K 12 Blended Learning through the i Flex Classroom Model

Download or read book Revolutionizing K 12 Blended Learning through the i Flex Classroom Model written by Avgerinou, Maria D. and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2016-06-20 with total page 510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Blended learning has gained significant attention recently by educational leaders, practitioners, and researchers. i²Flex, a variation of blended learning, is based on the premise that certain non-interactive teaching activities, such as lecturing, can take place by students without teachers’ direct involvement. Classroom time can then be used for educational activities that fully exploit teacher-student and student-student interactions, allowing for meaningful personalized feedback and scaffolding on demand. Revolutionizing K-12 Blended Learning through the i²Flex Classroom Model presents a well-rounded discussion on the i²Flex model, highlighting methods for K-12 course design, delivery, and evaluation in addition to teacher performance assessment in a blended i²Flex environment. Emphasizing new methods for improving the classroom and learning experience in addition to preparing students for higher education and careers, this publication is an essential reference source for pre-service and in-service teachers, researchers, administrators, and educational technology developers.

Book Beyond Child s Play

Download or read book Beyond Child s Play written by Sally Edward and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sustainable product design is more than eco design: it goes beyond 'green' to consider the work environment, community impacts, consumer health, and economic viability, as well as environmental attributes. "Beyond Child's Play" explores the concept of sustainable product design in the context of the global doll-making industry. To initiate this research, the author reviewed eco design parameters and developed criteria for sustainable product design in the doll-making industry. Using this framework, she conducted three case studies of do I making: the American Girl doll produced in China, the Kathe Kruse doll produced in Germany and the Q'ewar Project doll produced in Peru. Themes emerged from this research that have relevance beyond the doll-making industry: the value of making a product with care; designing work for human dignity; intention and vision for sustainability; the implications of materials choices; and, transparency and sustainability. Sustainable product design calls for fundamentally new thinking. By connecting the term 'sustainable' to 'product', we raise expectations for a radically different approach to design, production, and consumption. This framework integrates the eco design principles of detoxification and dematerialization with the principle of 'humanization', to ensure that the work environment where the product is made is safe and healthy and that local communities benefit from production. This approach places increased responsibility on the industrial designer and decision-makers throughout the supply chain, including governments, corporations, and citizens. Sustainable product design can be implemented effectively only when systems are in place that support sustainable production and consumption.

Book The Challenge of CMC Regulatory Compliance for Biopharmaceuticals

Download or read book The Challenge of CMC Regulatory Compliance for Biopharmaceuticals written by John Geigert and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-05-08 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Biopharmaceuticals (i.e., biological medicines sourced from genetically-engineered living systems) for treatment of human diseases have become a significant percentage of the pharmaceutical industry. And not just the recombinant DNA-derived proteins and monoclonal antibodies (both from the innovators and biosimilars); but now, an increasing awareness of the importance of gene therapy and genetically engineered cellular medicinal products. These biopharmaceuticals are being developed by many companies whose Chemistry, Manufacturing & Control (CMC) teams have varying degrees of familiarity or experience with the CMC strategy and regulatory compliance requirements for these challenging products. Companies clearly plan out the strategy for their clinical study plans, but frequently, the development of a strategy for CMC is an afterthought. Coupled with the complexity of the biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes and products, and this can be a recipe for disaster. The third edition of this book provides insights and practical guidance for the CMC teams to develop an acceptable cost-effective, risk-based CMC regulatory compliance strategy for all biopharmaceuticals (recombinant proteins, monoclonal antibodies, genetically engineered viruses and genetically engineered human cells) from early clinical stage development through market approval. The third edition of this book provides added coverage for the biosimilars, antibody drug conjugates (ADCs), bispecific antibodies, genetically engineered viruses, and genetically engineered cells. This third edition of the book also addresses the heightened pressure on CMC regulatory compliance timelines due to the introduction of expedited clinical pathways moving the clinical development closer to a seamless phase process (e.g., FDA Breakthrough Therapy designation, CBER Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy (RMAT) designation, EMA Priority Medicines (PRIME) designation). The Challenge of CMC Regulatory Compliance for Biopharmaceuticals is essential, practical information for all pharmaceutical development scientists, Manufacturing and Quality Unit staff, Regulatory Affairs personnel, and senior management involved in the manufacture of biopharmaceuticals.

Book Forced Out

Download or read book Forced Out written by Kevin Maxwell and published by Granta Books. This book was released on 2020-07-05 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A gay, black, British police officer’s memoir of prejudice, racism and homophobia on the force in the twenty-first century. Kevin Maxwell was a dream candidate for the police force—he had a long-held desire to serve his community, a strong moral compass and a clear aptitude for both the strategic and practical aspects of policing. And, as a gay black man from a working-class family, he could easily have been a poster boy for the force’s stated commitment to equal opportunities. Joining just after the 9/11 attacks, Kevin entered policing determined to keep communities safe in the face of a changing world. But instead, he came up against entrenched prejudice, open racism and homophobia. For more than ten years, Kevin strove against the odds, until he took the force to an employment tribunal—with devastating results. Forced Out is a revelatory exposé combining deeply affecting memoir with sharp analysis and a fascinating insider perspective on day-to-day life in the force. It is a touchstone for the silent many who have either tried to ignore abuse for the sake of their career or who have been bullied out of their jobs. It paints a sobering portrait of an institution that has not yet learned the lessons of the past and whose prejudice is informing the cases it chooses to investigate and the way it investigates them. And it asks the important question: what needs to change? “One of the most compulsive books I’ve read in a long while.” –Bernadine Evaristo, award-winning author of Girl, Woman, Other
