Book An Introduction to Complex Analysis

Download or read book An Introduction to Complex Analysis written by Wolfgang Tutschke and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2004-06-25 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Like real analysis, complex analysis has generated methods indispensable to mathematics and its applications. Exploring the interactions between these two branches, this book uses the results of real analysis to lay the foundations of complex analysis and presents a unified structure of mathematical analysis as a whole. To set the groundwork and mitigate the difficulties newcomers often experience, An Introduction to Complex Analysis begins with a complete review of concepts and methods from real analysis, such as metric spaces and the Green-Gauss Integral Formula. The approach leads to brief, clear proofs of basic statements - a distinct advantage for those mainly interested in applications. Alternate approaches, such as Fichera's proof of the Goursat Theorem and Estermann's proof of the Cauchy's Integral Theorem, are also presented for comparison. Discussions include holomorphic functions, the Weierstrass Convergence Theorem, analytic continuation, isolated singularities, homotopy, Residue theory, conformal mappings, special functions and boundary value problems. More than 200 examples and 150 exercises illustrate the subject matter and make this book an ideal text for university courses on complex analysis, while the comprehensive compilation of theories and succinct proofs make this an excellent volume for reference.

Book Holomorphic Functions of Several Variables

Download or read book Holomorphic Functions of Several Variables written by Ludger Kaup and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 1983 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The series is devoted to the publication of monographs and high-level textbooks in mathematics, mathematical methods and their applications. Apart from covering important areas of current interest, a major aim is to make topics of an interdisciplinary nature accessible to the non-specialist. The works in this series are addressed to advanced students and researchers in mathematics and theoretical physics. In addition, it can serve as a guide for lectures and seminars on a graduate level. The series de Gruyter Studies in Mathematics was founded ca. 35 years ago by the late Professor Heinz Bauer and Professor Peter Gabriel with the aim to establish a series of monographs and textbooks of high standard, written by scholars with an international reputation presenting current fields of research in pure and applied mathematics. While the editorial board of the Studies has changed with the years, the aspirations of the Studies are unchanged. In times of rapid growth of mathematical knowledge carefully written monographs and textbooks written by experts are needed more than ever, not least to pave the way for the next generation of mathematicians. In this sense the editorial board and the publisher of the Studies are devoted to continue the Studies as a service to the mathematical community. Please submit any book proposals to Niels Jacob. Titles in planning include Flavia Smarazzo and Alberto Tesei, Measure Theory: Radon Measures, Young Measures, and Applications to Parabolic Problems (2019) Elena Cordero and Luigi Rodino, Time-Frequency Analysis of Operators (2019) Mark M. Book A Course in Complex Analysis

Download or read book A Course in Complex Analysis written by Wolfgang Fischer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-10-21 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This carefully written textbook is an introduction to the beautiful concepts and results of complex analysis. It is intended for international bachelor and master programmes in Germany and throughout Europe; in the Anglo-American system of university education the content corresponds to a beginning graduate course. The book presents the fundamental results and methods of complex analysis and applies them to a study of elementary and non-elementary functions (elliptic functions, Gamma- and Zeta function including a proof of the prime number theorem ...) and – a new feature in this context! – to exhibiting basic facts in the theory of several complex variables. Part of the book is a translation of the authors’ German text “Einführung in die komplexe Analysis”; some material was added from the by now almost “classical” text “Funktionentheorie” written by the authors, and a few paragraphs were newly written for special use in a master’s programme.

Book Course In Analysis A Vol Iii Measure And Integration Theory Complex valued Functions Of A Complex Variable

Download or read book Course In Analysis A Vol Iii Measure And Integration Theory Complex valued Functions Of A Complex Variable written by Niels Jacob and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2017-06-29 with total page 784 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'It is a great book for a first year (US) graduate student. One of the nice features of the book is that the book contains full solutions for all of the problems which make it useful as reference for self-study or qualifying exam prep.' (See Full Review)MAA ReviewsIn this third volume of 'A Course in Analysis', two topics indispensible for every mathematician are treated: Measure and Integration Theory; and Complex Function Theory. In the first part measurable spaces and measure spaces are introduced and Caratheodory's extension theorem is proved. This is followed by the construction of the integral with respect to a measure, in particular with respect to the Lebesgue measure in the Euclidean space. The Radon-Nikodym theorem and the transformation theorem are discussed and much care is taken to handle convergence theorems with applications, as well as Lp-spaces.Integration on product spaces and Fubini's theorem is a further topic as is the discussion of the relation between the Lebesgue integral and the Riemann integral. In addition to these standard topics we deal with the Hausdorff measure, convolutions of functions and measures including the Friedrichs mollifier, absolutely continuous functions and functions of bounded variation. The fundamental theorem of calculus is revisited, and we also look at Sard's theorem or the Riesz-Kolmogorov theorem on pre-compact sets in Lp-spaces.The text can serve as a companion to lectures, but it can also be used for self-studying. This volume includes more than 275 problems solved completely in detail which should help the student further.

Book Theory of Complex Functions

Download or read book Theory of Complex Functions written by Reinhold Remmert and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A lively and vivid look at the material from function theory, including the residue calculus, supported by examples and practice exercises throughout. There is also ample discussion of the historical evolution of the theory, biographical sketches of important contributors, and citations - in the original language with their English translation - from their classical works. Yet the book is far from being a mere history of function theory, and even experts will find a few new or long forgotten gems here. Destined to accompany students making their way into this classical area of mathematics, the book offers quick access to the essential results for exam preparation. Teachers and interested mathematicians in finance, industry and science will profit from reading this again and again, and will refer back to it with pleasure.

Book Mathematische Werke Mathematical Works

Download or read book Mathematische Werke Mathematical Works written by Erich Kähler and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2011-07-13 with total page 984 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For most mathematicians and many mathematical physicists the name Erich Kähler is strongly tied to important geometric notions such as Kähler metrics, Kähler manifolds and Kähler groups. They all go back to a paper of 14 pages written in 1932. This, however, is just a small part of Kähler's many outstanding achievements which cover an unusually wide area: From celestial mechanics he got into complex function theory, differential equations, analytic and complex geometry with differential forms, and then into his main topic, i.e. arithmetic geometry where he constructed a system of notions which is a precursor and, in large parts, equivalent to the now used system of Grothendieck and Dieudonné. His principal interest was in finding the unity in the variety of mathematical themes and establishing thus mathematics as a universal language. In this volume Kähler's mathematical papers are collected following a "Tribute to Herrn Erich Kähler" by S. S. Chern, an overview of Kähler's life data by A. Bohm and R. Berndt, and a Survey of his Mathematical Work by the editors. There are also comments and reports on the developments of the main topics of Kähler's work, starting by W. Neumann's paper on the topology of hypersurface singularities, J.-P. Bourguignon's report on Kähler geometry and, among others by Berndt, Bost, Deitmar, Ekeland, Kunz and Krieg, up to A. Nicolai's essay "Supersymmetry, Kähler geometry and Beyond". As Kähler's interest went beyond the realm of mathematics and mathematical physics, any picture of his work would be incomplete without touching his work reaching into other regions. So a short appendix reproduces three of his articles concerning his vision of mathematics as a universal Theme together with an essay by K. Maurin giving an "Approach to the philosophy of Erich Kähler".

Book Foundations of Potential Theory

Download or read book Foundations of Potential Theory written by Oliver Dimon Kellogg and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 395 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume gives a systematic treatment of potential functions. It takes its origin in two courses, one elementary and one advanced, which the author has given at intervals during the last ten years, and has a two-fold purpose: first, to serve as an introduction for students whose attainments in the Calculus include some knowledge of partial derivatives and multiple and line integrals; and secondly, to provide the reader with the fundamentals of the subject, so that he may proceed immediately to the applications, or to the periodical literature of the day. It is inherent in the nature of the subject that physical intuition and illustration be appealed to freely, and this has been done. However, that the book may present sound ideals to the student, and in order also serve the mathematician, both for purposes of reference and as a basis for further developments, the proofs have been given by rigorous methods. This has led, at a number of points, to results either not found elsewhere, or not readily accessible. Thus, Chapter IV contains a proof for the general regular region of the divergence theorem (Gauss', or Green's theorem) on the reduction of volume to surface integrals. The treatment of the fundamental existence theorems in Chapter XI by means of integral equations meets squarely the difficulties incident to ·the discontinuity of the kernel, and the same chapter gives an account of the most recent developments with respect to the Dirichlet problem.

Download or read book Riemann Surfaces written by Lars Valerian Ahlfors and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2015-12-08 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of Riemann surfaces has a geometric and an analytic part. The former deals with the axiomatic definition of a Riemann surface, methods of construction, topological equivalence, and conformal mappings of one Riemann surface on another. The analytic part is concerned with the existence and properties of functions that have a special character connected with the conformal structure, for instance: subharmonic, harmonic, and analytic functions. Originally published in 1960. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions.
