Book excerpt: In the tradition of Michael Green's successful "Who Is This Jesus?" and "My God", comes "Follow in His Footprints", a beautifully packaged inspirational book in the same popular format. Michael Green directs this book to readers who feel adrift and alone with a lack of purpose in the world. He stimulates their thinking about personal significance in a highly materialistic world. Readers are led to a most critical choice, whether or not to follow the "footprints" left behind by a Creator and Savior.

Book In the Footprints of the Lamb

Download or read book In the Footprints of the Lamb written by George Steinberger and published by . This book was released on 2015-03 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: George Steinberger (1865-1904) lived a relatively brief life, and during those years he suffered much, as the reader will clearly discern in this book. However, God's grace taught and sustained this thirsty-hearted follower of the Lamb in the midst of many difficulties. Suffering can either make us or break us; Steinberger chose to take the former route. He lived by the truth of 1 Peter 5:10: "But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you." While this is a relatively small volume, it is packed with divine truth, written by a master of the devotional life. The book must be read and reread slowly, allowing the Spirit of God to penetrate one's heart with this biblically-based truth. As Christians, we are exhorted to "imitate the faith" of those worthies who have gone before us (Heb. 13:8). The faith of George Steinberger is worthy to be imitated, as he challenges us to "follow the Lamb wherever He goes (Rev. 14:4).Ole Hallesby, author of the classic volume "Prayer," said about this book: "I know of no devotional book that I have reread so many times. It is to an unusual degree filled with words of eternal life. Though many years of bitter suffering, its author learned to see the Savior as the Lamb of God and himself to walk the pathway 'in the footprints of the Lamb."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The sequel to the award-winning Stepping on the Cracks. “Sometimes heart-rending, sometimes funny, Gordy Smith will prove memorable to all who meet him.”—Booklist (starred review) In Following My Own Footsteps, sixth-grader Gordy Smith comes to grips with the fear that he’ll turn out no better than his abusive father . . . With his father now in jail and one brother hospitalized, Gordy’s mother has no choice but to take the family to their wealthy grandmother’s house in North Carolina. There Gordy meets William, a boy who had polio and is now wheelchair bound. Though they become friends, Gordy’s plans to help William fail spectacularly. Matters only get worse when Gordy’s father is released from prison and his mother is poised to give him a second chance. Gordy must decide where he belongs—with his dysfunctional parents or with the grandma who is more than his match in toughness, in courage, and in love. “A cast of unforgettable characters inhabit this work, seasoned with WW II setting but utterly contemporary in its concerns. Hahn is in top form, proving through Gordy’s first-person narration that real love can triumph over all kinds of adversity, and often does.”—Kirkus Reviews “The complex characterizations, period setting and Gordy’s brave attempts to break a cycle of violence will hold readers’ interest.”—Publishers Weekly “It’s a timeless social issue really, in any era, of having a dysfunctional abusive parent . . . A very good story showcasing complex friendships, familial relationships, and inner conflict, all set in WW2 America.”—Cats and Fiction

  • Publisher : Scepter Publishers
  • Release : 2020
  • ISBN : 1594173729
  • Pages : 102 pages

Download or read book Home Again written by Fr. John Henry Hanson and published by Scepter Publishers. This book was released on 2020 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Behold, I make all things new. Revelation 21:5 It does us all good to refresh, renew, and rediscover what it means to be human, to be a child of God. In Fr. John Henry’s latest book, he desires to lead you “home” through a prayerful revitalization of your faith in God’s plan for you—your story—by recalling its incredible beauty and depth. He reminds you that your identity as a Christian is strengthened through the sacraments—gifts of the Church that accompany and enrich you through life. “…if people are still people, and the world operates according to all the patterns Ecclesiastes says it does, with sunrise and sunset, rivers flowing to the sea, and the birth and death of all living things (cf. Eccl 1, 3), we should look deeper for an inner renewal caused by grace. Change without grace, renovation without interior renewal, is spiritually worthless. The thing remodeled, so to speak, remains what it always was. The most important kind of regeneration isn’t outward or skin-deep but takes places in the hidden depths of the soul.” Allow yourself to be reminded that God is a lover whose very desires for you will lead you directly to fulfillment and everlasting joy. The author hopes for you to live the resounding cry: “My story must flow from him,and return to him.”

Download or read book The Footprints of Love written by Hein Blommestijn and published by Peeters Publishers. This book was released on 2000 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Like a graphic artist, the discriminating pen of John of the Cross (1540-1591) sketches 'a trail made up of the footprints of love'. He does not sketch a romantic image of a 'mystical' paradise where we may experience the glory of the divine presence. Listening to the stories of the struggles of countless people in his day, he became an experienced mystical teacher who introduces the reader into Carmelite spirtuality as a 'school of love'. To encounter the other we must venture to enter a new land where there are no familiar roads. The wilderness of the mystic is the space where the face of the other can light up. In his love God withdraws himself so that human life may take shape as 'a trail made up of the footprints of love'. This book contains a set of explorations of the logic of divine love, a love which transforms men into true lovers. It deals with the four great commentaries of John of the Cross and one of his poems.
