This book was released on 1972 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The meeting was intended to provide a collaborative up-dating of research information on the aerodynamics of the stall at both low and high speeds. Recent work on the mechanics of flow separation was presented. A major subject area was the high lift performance and stalling behaviour of three-dimensional wings, including the influence of sweepback, the behaviour of high lift devices and the techniques and methods evolved for wind tunnel research. Flight development experience on recent combat and transport aircraft was described, and some papers concerned post-stall behaviour and the important problem of high speed buffet in relation to the maneuvering of combat aircraft.

Book Technical Evaluation Report on Fluid Dynamics Panel Specialists Meeting on Fluid Dynamic of Aircraft Stalling

Download or read book Technical Evaluation Report on Fluid Dynamics Panel Specialists Meeting on Fluid Dynamic of Aircraft Stalling written by R. C. Pankhurst and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report is concerned with the aerodynamics of the aircraft stall at both low speeds and high, with particular reference to the design and operation of combat and transport aircraft, including buffet penetration and post-stall behaviour. Major subject areas concerned flight experience, flight testing, wind-tunnel measurements and theoretical prediction methods, including the effects of three-dimensional flow, the influence of sweepback and the design and performance of high-lift devices. Consideration of special types of V/STOL aircraft were excluded, however, apart from occasional excursions such as the paper on transport aircraft with externally blown flaps. (Author).

Book Advances in Simulation of Wing and Nacelle Stall

Download or read book Advances in Simulation of Wing and Nacelle Stall written by Rolf Radespiel and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-07-09 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book reports on advanced solutions to the problem of simulating wing and nacelle stall, as presented and discussed by internationally recognized researchers at the Closing Symposium of the DFG Research Unit FOR 1066. Reliable simulations of flow separation on airfoils, wings and powered engine nacelles at high Reynolds numbers represent great challenges in defining suitable mathematical models, computing numerically accurate solutions and providing comprehensive experimental data for the validation of numerical simulations. Additional problems arise from the need to consider airframe-engine interactions and inhomogeneous onset flow conditions, as real aircraft operate in atmospheric environments with often-large distortions. The findings of fundamental and applied research into these and other related issues are reported in detail in this book, which targets all readers, academics and professionals alike, interested in the development of advanced computational fluid dynamics modeling for the simulation of complex aircraft flows with flow separation.

Book Aircraft Stalling and Buffeting

Download or read book Aircraft Stalling and Buffeting written by ADVISORY GROUP FOR AEROSPACE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PARIS (France) and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aircraft stalling and buffeting are related phenomena which limit the useable lift of an aircraft and hence determine its minimum flying speeds, its maximum cruising altitude and its manoeuverability. The basic physical mechanisms are aerodynamic, involving separations of the airflow over the wings, but the limitations on the performance of the aircraft depend on its aeroelastic and dynamic response. The Lecture Series aims to give an account of recent developments in the understanding of the fluid dynamics of stalling and buffeting, of the dynamic response of the aircraft and of techniques for buffet prediction, with consideration of the implications for aircraft design. This publication should be of interest to aircraft aerodynamicists and research workers in fluid dynamics and flight mechanics.

Book Introduction to Transonic Aerodynamics

Download or read book Introduction to Transonic Aerodynamics written by Roelof Vos and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-03-04 with total page 561 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written to teach students the nature of transonic flow and its mathematical foundation, this book offers a much-needed introduction to transonic aerodynamics. The authors present a quantitative and qualitative assessment of subsonic, supersonic and transonic flow around bodies in two and three dimensions. The book reviews the governing equations and explores their applications and limitations as employed in modeling and computational fluid dynamics. Some concepts, such as shock and expansion theory, are examined from a numerical perspective. Others, including shock-boundary-layer interaction, are discussed from a qualitative point of view. The book includes 60 examples and more than 200 practice problems. The authors also offer analytical methods such as Method of Characteristics (MOC) that allow readers to practice with the subject matter. The result is a wealth of insight into transonic flow phenomena and their impact on aircraft design, including compressibility effects, shock and expansion waves, shock-boundary-layer interaction and aeroelasticity.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This report consists of lecture notes of an AGARD Fluid Dynamics Panel Special Course. These notes provide the latest information on the development and use of dynamic experiments in wind tunnels from several of the NATO nations. They address current oscillatory and rotary test techniques, experimental results for typical configurations, and the use of these data for flight mechanics applications. Subject included are: dynamic lift, wing rock, fluid dynamics of rotary flows, mathematical modelling, non-linear data representation, vortex manipulation for control enhancement, and correlations of predictions based on rotary and oscillatory wind-tunnel and flight-test results. The complete course notes are contained in two volumes. The main part of the notes is contained in AGARD Advisory Report 265 (ADA235179). The present volume includes papers on: Unsteady aerodynamics of slender wings; Dynamic stall effects and applications to high performance aircraft; Oscillatory test techniques; Large amplitude oscillations; Oscillatory data for typical configurations; and Forebody vortex control."--Stinet.
