Book Testing and Diagnosis of Analog Circuits and Systems

Download or read book Testing and Diagnosis of Analog Circuits and Systems written by Ruey-wen Liu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IS THE TOPIC ANALOG TESTING AND DIAGNOSIS TIMELY? Yes, indeed it is. Testing and Diagnosis is an important topic and fulfills a vital need for the electronic industry. The testing and diagnosis of digital electronic circuits has been successfuIly developed to the point that it can be automated. Unfortu nately, its development for analog electronic circuits is still in its Stone Age. The engineer's intuition is still the most powerful tool used in the industry! There are two reasons for this. One is that there has been no pressing need from the industry. Analog circuits are usuaIly small in size. Sometimes, the engineer's experience and intuition are sufficient to fulfill the need. The other reason is that there are no breakthrough results from academic re search to provide the industry with critical ideas to develop tools. This is not because of a lack of effort. Both academic and industrial research groups have made major efforts to look into this problem. Unfortunately, the prob lem for analog circuits is fundamentally different from and much more diffi cult than its counterpart for digital circuits. These efforts have led to some important findings, but are still not at the point of being practicaIly useful. However, these situations are now changing. The current trend for the design of VLSI chips is to use analog/digital hybrid circuits, instead of digital circuits from the past. Therefore, even Ix x Preface though the analog circuit may be small, the total circuit under testing is large.

Book Analog Fault Diagnosis of Large Scale Electronic Circuits

Download or read book Analog Fault Diagnosis of Large Scale Electronic Circuits written by Ruey-wen Liu and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The long-term objective of this research is to develop a practical and reliable Automatic Test Program Generator (ATPG) which will allow us to locate the faulty component(s) of a large analog circuit when it is faulty. The short-term objective is to search for viable and amenable concepts under which long-term objectives can be achieved. During this short period, some significant progress has been made.

They are organized in topical sections on computer vision and robotics, self organizing maps, classification/pattern recognition, financial and management applications of AI, fuzzy systems, support vector machines, learning and novel algorithms, reinforcement and radial basis function ANN, machine learning, evolutionary genetic algorithms optimization, Web applications of ANN, spiking ANN, feature extraction minimization, medical applications of AI, environmental and earth applications of AI, multi layer ANN, and bioinformatics. The volume also contains the accepted papers from the Workshop on Applications of Soft Computing to Telecommunication (ASCOTE 2011), the Workshop on Computational Intelligence Applications in Bioinformatics (CIAB 2011), and the Second Workshop on Informatics and Intelligent Systems Applications for Quality of Life Information Services (ISQLIS 2011).

Book A Neural Based Analog IC Parametric Fault Diagnostic System with Discriminant Simulation Sampling

Download or read book A Neural Based Analog IC Parametric Fault Diagnostic System with Discriminant Simulation Sampling written by A. Wu and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This article presents experimental results that show feedforward neural networks are well suited for analog IC parametric fault diagnosis. It describes a discriminant sampling method for analog IC parametric faults simulation for a neural-based diagnostic system to reduce the computational overhead of the neural network training phase. Analog circuit fault simulation has not achieved the same degree of success as its digital counterpart owing to the difficulty in modeling the more complex analog behavior. Analog circuit fault simulation does rely on time-consuming circuit simulations on a large number of sampled points subject to various process deviations to emulate the actual faulty conditions. The proposed algorithm uses an effective importance sampling strategy to capture the parametric acceptance boundaries of the circuit under test. It makes use of circuit simulations effectively to relate each circuit performance to the process disturbances and to establish response functions that are accurate at the transition boundaries of the acceptance region. With the proposed approach, simulation samples can be generated for fault simulations mostly at the boundaries of the acceptance region to institute the discriminant functions for parametric faults testing using a neural network approach. The proposed algorithm is more computationally effective when compared to the Monte Carlo method.
