Josiah Records (1741-1809) was born in Somerset County, Maryland, the son of John Rickcords (1691-1747) and grandson of John Rickards (ca. 1656-1744). He married Susanna Tulley (1743-1823) in 1761. They had twelve children, 1762-ca. 1783. The family migrated to western Pennsylvania and he served in the frontier militia there during the Revolutionary War. The family migrated to Kentucky in 1784. He died in Ross County (later Pike County), Ohio. Descendants listed, chiefly some descendants of his son, Laban Records (1765- 1822), lived in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and elsewhere.
