Download or read book False Flag written by V.M. BRADLEY and published by Author House. This book was released on 2014-01-17 with total page 613 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: False Flag is a complex story of politics and power, yet its also the story of the remarkable people of Bridgeview, the sixteenth town on Cape Cod. How the people of Bridgeview react to a treasonous plot, imposed on their community by conspirators based in Washington D.C., illustrates the strengths and weaknesses and remarkable resilience of average Americans. At first, the quiet, tourist oriented seaside town is the scene of a near drowning, but when the local police prove more astute than expected, everything changes. As the political mystery unfolds, investigators are led inexorably toward an unexpected and at first hardly believable conclusion: that is, rogue government officials are seeking to create, on U.S. soil, an incident that can be used to justify American military retaliation against another nation. To the conspirators, Bridgeview is perfectly located in a world renowned resort area, and it abuts the Mass. Military Reservation, still called Otis. Known as Edwards Army Base in WWII, when it was the jump-off spot for the War in Europe, and as Otis Air Base, a huge Strategic Air Command facility during the Cold War, it is now home to multiple armed services detachments, as well as special op training facilities. However, while the massive runways and the central facilities remain well maintained, other areas of the 22,000 acre base are nearly forgotten, creating a perfect situation for the conspirators to exploit. False Flag reaches deep into Cape Cod history, but also into the Washington beltway, the Pentagon, and various government agencies. In the process the designs and machinations of a powerful group of NeoCon government conspirators is revealed. This shadow group of high officials and military officers is intent on changing American and global politics and establishing permanent power bases for themselves. The people of Bridgeview thwart their plans.

Book excerpt: In False Flag, Israeli-born Dalia Artzi, a tactical genius and specialist at Princeton in the study of maneuver warfare, uncovers a fiendish plot by a small group of Israeli fanatics to commit a horrific crime against the United States government and pin the blame on Iran. At first, Dalia, a pacifist, is hesitant to get involved. But, strong in her Jewish faith, she believes that the goal of her religion is not to crush one’s enemies but to practice tikkun olam, to repair the world. Soon Dalia has little choice but to act quickly and do what she must to prevent the unspeakable. Meanwhile, Jana, a beautiful but deadly Israeli operative taking orders from the conspiring fanatics, is determined to deftly fulfill the deadly mission entrusted to her. Once the plot has been carried out, Jana and the commanders of her mission believe that Israel’s enemies will meet with total destruction when the world’s most powerful nation retaliates. Jana is firm in her conviction that she is on the side of right and believes the ends will justify the means, however violent. Centered on a fascinating and original Israeli heroine and antiheroine, False Flag probes some of the most important political and moral conflicts of our times. Altman examines extremism in its many incarnations and the complex pitfalls humans encounter when they try to do what is right, no matter the cost. In the process, he continues his tradition of creating ruthless female assassins, delivering his most terrifying creation yet. Riveting espionage, struggles of conscience, and edge-of-your-seat intrigue combine to make False Flag one of the most compelling and controversial thrillers of 2017.

Download or read book The Flat Tax written by Scott E. Hicko and published by Addicus Books. This book was released on 2013-08-01 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the surface, the concept of a flat tax sounds good—it would simplify tax preparation and lower most people's taxes. However, according to Scott E. Hicko, a flat tax would increase taxes for the average worker and destroy the American dream. Under such tax legislation, the super wealthy would pay less tax while the nations's working class sould carry the nation's tax burden. First introduced in the 1970's, the flat tax concept will continue to be debated as the government seeks ways to streamline, says Hicko. And, most people do not understand the realities of it. The Flat Tax: Why it Won'T Work for America is the first book to outline the negative impact a flat tax sould create on the American economy.

Download or read book Off the Edge written by Kelly Weill and published by Algonquin Books. This book was released on 2022-02-22 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A deep dive into the world of Flat Earth conspiracy theorists . . . that brilliantly reveals how people fall into illogical beliefs, reject reason, destroy relationships, and connect with a broad range of conspiracy theories in the social media age. Beautiful, probing, and often empathetic . . . An insightful, human look at what fuels conspiracy theories.” —Science Since 2015, there has been a spectacular boom in a centuries-old delusion: that the earth is flat. More and more people believe that we all live on a pancake-shaped planet, capped by a solid dome and ringed by an impossible wall of ice. How? Why? In Off the Edge, journalist Kelly Weill draws a direct line from today’s conspiratorial moment, brimming not just with Flat Earthers but also anti-vaxxers and QAnon followers, back to the early days of Flat Earth theory in the 1830s. We learn the natural impulses behind these beliefs: when faced with a complicated world out of our control, humans have always sought patterns to explain the inexplicable. This psychology doesn’t change. But with the dawn of the twenty-first century, something else has shifted. Powered by Facebook and YouTube algorithms, the Flat Earth movement is growing. At once a definitive history of the movement and an essential look at its unbelievable present, Off the Edge introduces us to a cast of larger-than-life characters. We meet historical figures like the nineteenth-century grifter who first popularized the theory, as well as the many modern-day Flat Earthers Weill herself gets to know, from moms on vacation to determined creationists to neo-Nazi rappers. We discover what, and who, converts people to Flat Earth belief, and what happens inside the rabbit hole. And we even meet a man determined to fly into space in a homemade rocket-powered balloon—whose tragic death is as senseless and absurd as the theory he sets out to prove. In this incisive and powerful story about belief, Kelly Weill explores how we arrived at this moment of polarized realities and explains what needs to happen so that we might all return to the same spinning globe.
