Book Extraction of In Medium Nucleon Nucleon Amplitude from Experiment

Download or read book Extraction of In Medium Nucleon Nucleon Amplitude from Experiment written by National Aeronautics and Space Adm Nasa and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2018-12-29 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The in-medium nucleon-nucleon amplitudes are extracted from the available proton-nucleus total reaction cross sections data. The retrieval of the information from the experiment makes the estimate of reaction cross sections very reliable. Simple expressions are given for the in-medium nucleon-nucleon amplitudes for any system of colliding nuclei as a function of energy. Excellent agreement with experimental observations is demonstrated in the ion-nucleus interactions. Tripathi, R. K. and Cucinotta, Francis A. and Wilson, John W. Book Proton Nucleus Total Cross Sections in Coupled Channel Approach

Download or read book Proton Nucleus Total Cross Sections in Coupled Channel Approach written by R. K. Tripathi and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recently, nucleon-nucleon (N-N) cross sections in the medium have been extracted directly from experiment. The in-medium N-N cross sections form the basic ingredients of several heavy-ion scattering approaches including the coupled-channel approach developed at the Langley Research Center. In the present study the ratio of the real to the imaginary part of the two-body scattering amplitude in the medium was investigated. These ratios are used in combination with the in-medium N-N cross sections to calculate total proton-nucleus cross sections. The agreement is excellent with the available experimental data. These cross sections are needed for the radiation risk assessment of space missions.

Book Extracting Forward Strong Amplitudes from Elastic Differential Cross Sections

Download or read book Extracting Forward Strong Amplitudes from Elastic Differential Cross Sections written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The feasibility of a model-independent extraction of the forward strong amplitude from elastic nuclear cross section data in the Coulomb-nuclear interference region is assessed for [pi] and K scattering at intermediate energies. Theoretically-generated ''data'' are analyzed to provide criteria for optimally designing experiments to measure these amplitudes, whose energy dependence (particularly that of the real parts) is needed for disentangling various sources of medium modifications of the projectile-nucleon interaction. The issues considered include determining the angular region over which to make the measurements, the role of the most forward angles measured, and the effects of statistical and systematic errors. We find that there is a region near the forward direction where Coulomb-nuclear interference allows reliable extraction of the strong forward amplitude for both pions and the K from .3 to 1 GeV/c.

Book A Simple Method for Nucleon Nucleon Cross Sections in a Nucleus

Download or read book A Simple Method for Nucleon Nucleon Cross Sections in a Nucleus written by R. K. Tripathi and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A simple reliable formalism is presented for obtaining nucleon-nucleon cross sections within a nucleus in nuclear collisions for a given projectile and a target nucleus combination at a given energy for use in transport, Monte Carlo, and other calculations. The method relies on extraction of these values from experiments and has been tested and found to give excellent results.

Book Medium And High Energy Nuclear Physics Proceedings Of The Conference

Download or read book Medium And High Energy Nuclear Physics Proceedings Of The Conference written by M K Pal and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1992-12-10 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume gives a detailed account of the current trends in the interface areas of medium and high energy nuclear physics. Special stress is given to topics like chiral models, relativistic models, hot nuclei, quark-gluon plasma and other reactions with non-nucleonic degrees of freedom. The articles present the state-of-the-art research in these areas and also suggest unsolved problems which will form the main thrust of future research work in nuclear physics.

Book Fundamental Physics with Pulsed Neutron Beams

Download or read book Fundamental Physics with Pulsed Neutron Beams written by Christopher R. Gould and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2001 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Low energy neutron beams are used to address many questions in nuclear physics, particle physics and astrophysics. The scientific issues include elucidating the nature of time reversal noninvariance; understanding the origin of the baryon asymmetry in the Universe; describing the weak interaction between quarks and between nucleons; understanding the origin of the elements in stellar and big bang nucleosynthesis. This book summarizes how spallation neutron sources work and discuss the advantages of pulsed beams in reducing systematic errors in precision measurements. It also describes recent breakthroughs in ultracold neutron production, together with the physics that will be addressed by the new generation of intense neutron sources.

Book excerpt: This volume consists of two review articles. E Hadjimichael's contribution, 'The Nuclear Three-Body Systems', concentrates on recent experimental and theoretical progress achieved in the field. Together with a pedagogical survey of the theoretical framework extensive discussion on the 3N system in the continuum and reactions of electromagnetic probes with 3N systems are provided. 'Four-Nucleon Transfer Reactions' by W Oelert reviews many aspects of α-particle transfer studies. A careful and balanced presentation of both theory and experiment is given. Reasonable agreement between the two is observed. Both reviews contain copious reference lists.
