Download or read book Examining the performance effects of corporate entrepreneurship written by and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2024-06-05 with total page 51 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bachelor Thesis from the year 2024 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,0, University of Paderborn (Fakultät Wirtschaftswissenschaften), language: English, abstract: The purpose of this bachelor thesis was to investigate the relationship between corporate entrepreneurship (CE) (i.e., innovation, strategic renewal, and corporate venturing) and firm performance (i.e., financial, non-financial, subjective, and objective). For this purpose, a meta-analysis is performed, analyzing prior literature findings regarding the CE-performance relationship of 76 independent samples. The results indicate that innovation, strategic renewal, and corporate venturing each have a significant positive impact on firm performance. Results also suggest that the CE-performance relationship is stronger, when performance is assessed subjectively, as opposed to objectively. In addition to this, a moderator analysis is conducted, to evaluate whether the relationships vary between the firms’ country of origin. Results show that innovation, strategic renewal, and corporate venturing have a stronger effect on performance in Asian countries, than in European or American countries. Those findings are discussed and embedded in current literature. Lastly, practical implications and limitations are discussed.

This book was released on 2006-01-25 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Corporate Entrepreneurship and Venturing is positioned at the crossroads of the strategy and entrepreneurship fields. The common theme is how and why corporate entrepreneurship and corporate venturing can contribute to innovation and strategic renewal in large established companies, in particular it explores ways to balance exploitation and exploration in established companies. The issue is how the locus of entrepreneurship affects the way corporate entrepreneurship addresses the exploitation/exploration challenge. In some chapters corporate entrepreneurship is dispersed across the organization and they examine the key elements of an entrepreneurial culture and the organizational conditions that are favorable to entrepreneurial initiatives. The other chapters contribute to the discussion on the potential role of corporate venturing which is separated from the main parts of the organization. They examine the advantages and disadvantages of corporate venture capital programs as particular forms of focused corporate entrepreneurship.

Book Toward an Integrative Explanation of Corporate Financial Performance

Download or read book Toward an Integrative Explanation of Corporate Financial Performance written by N. Capon and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a milestone on our journey toward developing a more comprehensive understanding of the underpinnings of corporate financial performance. Weare concerned with both the factors that cause the financial performance of some firms to be better than others at a point in time and those factors that influence the trajectory of firm financial performance over time. In addressing these issues, we consider theoretical and empirical work on financial performance, drawn from several literatures, as well as present the results from our own empirical study. The review of the theoretical and empirical work is contemporary; the major portion of data comprising the empirical study was collected in the early 1980s as part of the Columbia Business School project on corporate strategic planning, but some data sequences extend into the mid-1980s and early 1990s. Our goals are to improve understanding of firm financial performance by developing a more integrated framework and to develop a research agenda based on what we have learned. This volume consists of four chapters, 12 appendices that provide detailed technical support and development for various portions of the discussion and an extensive set of references. It interweaves results from published literature in various fields with our original empirical work and develops an integrative approach to the study of firm fmancial performance.

Book Institutions Entrepreneurship and Economic Performance

Download or read book Institutions Entrepreneurship and Economic Performance written by David Urbano and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-04-11 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using institutional economics as a theoretical framework, this book analyzes institutional environment conducive to entrepreneurial activity in order to enhance economic performance across countries. In particular, the main contributions of this book to the entrepreneurship literature are the following: • Identify past and current research about the institutional context shaping entrepreneurial activity and its effect on economic growth • Examine social progress orientation as those institutional factors that are shaping innovative entrepreneurial activity • Explore the effect of different types of entrepreneurial activities on economic growth • Examine how social progress orientation through opportunity-driven entrepreneurship affects economic development • Analyze the interrelationships between institutions, entrepreneurial activity and economic development across countries • Study how the country's institutional context influences the way in which entrepreneurial activity affects social progress Two sides of the same coin might be observed when analyzing policy aspects of those institutions affecting entrepreneurial activity. On the one hand, effective public policy to promote entrepreneurship is predicated on understanding the underlying forces as well as the consequences and impacts of entrepreneurship. On the other hand, different endeavors to promote entrepreneurial activity might have deleterious economic effects since they could actually reduce employment in the long-term. Thus, it is crucial to understand the institutional environment in which entrepreneurs are interacting and making decisions. The comprehension of these phenomena serves to move forward the theoretical, practical and policy debate on entrepreneurship as a mechanism to achieve higher economic performance.

Book New Challenges in Entrepreneurship and Finance

Download or read book New Challenges in Entrepreneurship and Finance written by Marta Peris-Ortiz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-10-24 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the 2008 economic crisis, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have faced serious financial problems and have been looking to financial institutions and governments for solutions and new proposals to address these issues. This book examines the new challenge in which firms receive sustainable funding that is in alignment with the company’s spending capacity. The purpose of this book is to examine the main theoretical issues and practices regarding entrepreneurship and finance and their impact on performance, innovation and economic growth. It analyzes the fundamental aspects of entrepreneurship and studies ways in which financial institutions can better fulfill their primary function of feeding capital to businesses and the economy as a whole. Entrepreneurship and finance are fundamental to achieving success in economic and social activities. SMEs’ existence and development depend on the initiatives of entrepreneurship and access to resources, especially those of a financial nature. During the recent economic crisis, several new financing instruments have appeared, especially with structures designed for helping SMEs make their way out of the recession. This book explores some of these tools in various global economies, such as France and Spain, providing an international, multidimensional perspective.

Book The Impact of Corporate Governance on Innovativeness

Download or read book The Impact of Corporate Governance on Innovativeness written by Mahir Sahin and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2005-06-02 with total page 63 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Diploma Thesis from the year 2005 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,0, Technical University of Berlin (Institut für Technologie- und Innovationsmanagement), language: English, abstract: [...] The paper starts with a brief description of the theoretical bases by defining the term Corporate Governance. Further, Corporate Governance’s historical origin is examined and the theoretical assumptions of the two contrasting approaches are described. A short insight is given to the Corporate Governance system in Germany to show that there are differences in national governance systems, especially between the Anglo-Saxon and the German one. For theoretical clarity, the terms innovativeness and entrepreneurship will be defined after. In chapter three, the main part of the paper, empirical findings between the relationship of Corporate Governance mechanisms and innovativeness are examined and the design of control and incentive systems is also discussed. A psychological model, which shows the effects of overemphasizing control or collaboration tensions to Corporate Governance, is then introduced. In the following chapter, the mediating role of culture to Corporate Governance is shown. Additionally, a model of a cultural type is presented, thus making the classification of an organization into four different culture types possible. Finally, my own contingency theoretical framework is constructed, which makes the application of the right theoretical approach to Corporate Governance dependent on the type of culture. The main findings of the paper are that Corporate Governance systems are correlated with innovativeness and that the stewardship approach to Corporate Governance is superior to the agency one in revealing innovativeness.

Book Entrepreneurial Orientation Social Networks and Creative Performance

Download or read book Entrepreneurial Orientation Social Networks and Creative Performance written by Ming-Huei Chen and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Though previous research has highlighted how important it is for middle managers to contribute to corporate entrepreneurship, little work has been done to explore how they produce creative performance by examining the direct, curvilinear and moderating effects of their entrepreneurial orientation and social networks. A total of 337 middle managers conducting marketing, R&D and project management in Taiwan are studied. The results suggest that middle managers' disposition towards proactiveness and innovativeness is positively related to their creative performance, and their internal bonding networks and upper management networks are found to strengthen the effects of entrepreneurial orientation on creative performance. However, middle managers' external bridging networks are found to have an inverted U-shaped curvilinear relationship with their creative performance, and to weaken the effect of entrepreneurial orientation on creative performance. These findings echo the interactionist perspective of creativity, implying that middle managers should manage their social networks more carefully, as social interaction with network actors may either facilitate or inhibit their creativity at work.
