Book excerpt: Cette thèse propose le développement et la mise en œuvre d'une technique de mesure optique et non intrusive, fondée sur l'utilisation couplée de la vélocimétrie laser à effet doppler et de la fluorescence induite par laser. Cette technique permet d'effectuer des mesures simultanées de vitesse et de concentration, ou de température, avec une résolution temporelle et une résolution spatiale compatibles avec l'étude des champs turbulents. Une modélisation du signal de fluorescence en fonction de la concentration et de la température est proposée et les conditions d'utilisation de la technique sont développées. Cette technique a été appliquée a l'étude d'un écoulement de type turbulence de grille homogène et isotrope et a permis de décrire les propriétés di fusionnelles par un modèle de diffusivité turbulente constante. L'utilisation de cette technique a permis d'analyser les propriétés di fusionnelles d'un jet axisymétrique turbulent d'un contaminant passif massique. La validation des modèles de fermeture des équations de la turbulence au second ordre portant sur les termes de corrélations entre les fluctuations de pression et les fluctuations du scalaire est en particulier proposée. Les résultats expérimentaux ont permis d'établir un modèle de viscosité turbulente et un modèle de diffusivité turbulente variables et aboutissent à la définition d'un nombre de Schmidt turbulent constant dans la zone centrale de l'écoulement. Une extension de cette technique aux mesures simultanées de vitesse et de température est proposée, et nous présentons les résultats expérimentaux concernant l'étude des champs cinématiques et thermiques d'un jet turbulent axisymétrique chaud. La mesure des corrélations $vt entre les fluctuations de vitesse et les fluctuations de température a abouti au calcul d'une diffusivité thermique turbulente d t variable, ainsi qu'a la définition d'un nombre de Prandtl turbulent.

Book excerpt: Remote sensing of very low amplitude (few micrometers) vibration at long range is a growing need in the industry, both in the civilian sector to study the integrity of structure, and in the military sector to achieve target identification. Coherent lidars allow the measure of vibration speed around some micrometers per second at a range of several kilometers or even dozens of kilometres. They are based on the measure of the frequency shift due to Doppler effect suffered when backscattering on a moving target occurs. The scientific issue of the work reported in this thesis is to design a laser vibrometer measuring these low vibration speeds of non-cooperative targets at long range. A theoretical and experimental study is conducted, more particularly about the noise affecting the measure, and the coupling between the laser spot and the vibration patterns on the surface of the target. A simulator of the measure, validated by comparing experimental measurements on a model airplane with simulated measurements, is built to determine the system performance. Then the experimental demonstration of the ability of coherent lidar to perform long range and high sensitivity measurements is made on flying targets at 2.5 km, and by very low frequency measures on buildings, using a 1.55 micron all fibered lidar. Finally, the compensation of own platform vibration is studied in order to board the laser vibrometer on a moving carrier.

Les techniques optiques de mesure présentent une haute résolution spatiale en comparaison aux techniques par microondes et ultrasons. Mais elles sont très souvent de cout élevé. La technique d'interférométrie à rétro-injection optique permet de concevoir des capteurs laser à faible coût, auto-alignés et de bonne précision. Cette technique repose sur le fait qu'une partie de la lumière réfléchie par une cible en mouvement illuminée par une diode laser rentre dans la cavité du laser et interfère avec le champ existant à l'intérieur de la cavité. Cette interférence induit des variations de la puissance optique de sortie de la diode laser dû notamment à l'effet Doppler. Par mesure de la fréquence Doppler de la puissance optique, la vitesse de la cible peut être déterminée. L'objectif de cette thèse est de développer des dispositifs adaptés à ce type de mesure et opérant en temps réel. A cette fin, nous avons étudié tout d'abord les configurations optiques du dispositif de mesure et nous avons démontré qu'une architecture à double-tête laser permet d'augmenter la robustesse et la précision du capteur. L'architecture optimale d'un tel dispositif a été déterminée. Ensuite, nous avons étudié les principales techniques de traitement du signal opérant en temps réel. Basée sur le comptage numérique de fréquence, une technique simple mais démontrée convenable en temps réel a été proposée pour la mesure de vitesse. Cette technique se caractérise par son faible coût en ressources et sa bande passante élevée permettant d'étendre la gamme de vitesses mesurables. Nous avons enfin appliqué le dispositif développé à la mesure de vitesse dans des micro-canaux fluidiques.
