Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Until now, no book has systematically presented the recently developed concept of envelopes in function spaces. Envelopes are relatively simple tools for the study of classical and more complicated spaces, such as Besov and Triebel-Lizorkin types, in limiting situations. This theory originates from the classical result of the Sobolev embedding theo

Download or read book SAGA Advances in ShApes Geometry and Algebra written by Tor Dokken and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-10-24 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book summarizes research carried out in workshops of the SAGA project, an Initial Training Network exploring the interplay of Shapes, Algebra, Geometry and Algorithms. Written by a combination of young and experienced researchers, the book introduces new ideas in an established context. Among the central topics are approximate and sparse implicitization and surface parametrization; algebraic tools for geometric computing; algebraic geometry for computer aided design applications and problems with industrial applications. Readers will encounter new methods for the (approximate) transition between the implicit and parametric representation; new algebraic tools for geometric computing; new applications of isogeometric analysis and will gain insight into the emerging research field situated between algebraic geometry and computer aided geometric design.

  • Pages : 218 pages

Download or read book Modeling Our World written by Michael Zeiler and published by ESRI, Inc.. This book was released on 1999 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geographic data models are digital frameworks that describe the location and characteristics of things in the world around us. With a geographic information system, we can use these models as lenses to see, interpret, and analyze the infinite complexity of our natural and man-made environments. With the geodatabase, a new geographic data model introduced with ArcInfo 8, you can extend significantly the level of detail and range of accuracy with which you can model geographic reality in a database environment.

Book Fourth Canada Japan Workshop on Composites

Download or read book Fourth Canada Japan Workshop on Composites written by Suong V. Hoa and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-09-24 with total page 552 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While this proceedings volume deals primarily with the conventional areas of metal, ceramic, and polymer composites for civil construction, several of the papers report on new developments in the emerging fields of wood and nanocomposites. The 63 papers from the September 2002 workshop includes the further integration of the fabrication and function processes, aspects of the scale of components which improve the competitive position of composites relative to conventional materials and the exploitation of new types of composite such as nanocomposites which exploit a variety of new length scales to achieve their functionality. This also gives rise to multifunctional composites which have attributes other than structural properties. In this talk these aspects of the future of composites will be explored and illustrated.

Book CGAL Arrangements and Their Applications

Download or read book CGAL Arrangements and Their Applications written by Efi Fogel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-01-05 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arrangements of curves constitute fundamental structures that have been intensively studied in computational geometry. Arrangements have numerous applications in a wide range of areas – examples include geographic information systems, robot motion planning, statistics, computer-assisted surgery and molecular biology. Implementing robust algorithms for arrangements is a notoriously difficult task, and the CGAL arrangements package is the first robust, comprehensive, generic and efficient implementation of data structures and algorithms for arrangements of curves. This book is about how to use CGAL two-dimensional arrangements to solve problems. The authors first demonstrate the features of the arrangement package and related packages using small example programs. They then describe applications, i.e., complete standalone programs written on top of CGAL arrangements used to solve meaningful problems – for example, finding the minimum-area triangle defined by a set of points, planning the motion of a polygon translating among polygons in the plane, computing the offset polygon, finding the largest common point sets under approximate congruence, constructing the farthest-point Voronoi diagram, coordinating the motion of two discs moving among obstacles in the plane, and performing Boolean operations on curved polygons. The book contains comprehensive explanations of the solution programs, many illustrations, and detailed notes on further reading, and it is supported by a website that contains downloadable software and exercises. It will be suitable for graduate students and researchers involved in applied research in computational geometry, and for professionals who require worked-out solutions to real-life geometric problems. It is assumed that the reader is familiar with the C++ programming-language and with the basics of the generic-programming paradigm.
