Book Real Prospects for Energy Efficiency in the United States

Download or read book Real Prospects for Energy Efficiency in the United States written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2010-06-10 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: America's economy and lifestyles have been shaped by the low prices and availability of energy. In the last decade, however, the prices of oil, natural gas, and coal have increased dramatically, leaving consumers and the industrial and service sectors looking for ways to reduce energy use. To achieve greater energy efficiency, we need technology, more informed consumers and producers, and investments in more energy-efficient industrial processes, businesses, residences, and transportation. As part of the America's Energy Future project, Real Prospects for Energy Efficiency in the United States examines the potential for reducing energy demand through improving efficiency by using existing technologies, technologies developed but not yet utilized widely, and prospective technologies. The book evaluates technologies based on their estimated times to initial commercial deployment, and provides an analysis of costs, barriers, and research needs. This quantitative characterization of technologies will guide policy makers toward planning the future of energy use in America. This book will also have much to offer to industry leaders, investors, environmentalists, and others looking for a practical diagnosis of energy efficiency possibilities.

This book was released on 2018-07-15 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2008-10-07 Energy Conservation Program for Commercial and Industrial Equipment - Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner and Packaged Terminal Heat Pump (US Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Office Regulation) (EERE) (2018 Edition) The Law Library presents the complete text of the 2008-10-07 Energy Conservation Program for Commercial and Industrial Equipment - Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner and Packaged Terminal Heat Pump (US Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Office Regulation) (EERE) (2018 Edition). Updated as of May 29, 2018 The Department of Energy (DOE) has determined that its adoption of amended energy conservation standards for commercial standard size packaged terminal air conditioners (PTACs) and packaged terminal heat pumps (PTHPs), at efficiency levels more stringent than those in American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE)/Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) Standard 90.1-1999, is supported by clear and convincing evidence that such standards would result in significant additional conservation of energy and are technologically feasible and economically justified. On this basis, DOE is today amending the existing energy conservation standards for these types of equipment. In addition, DOE has determined that its adoption of amended energy conservation standards more stringent than the efficiency levels specified by ASHRAE Standard 90.1-1999 for non-standard size PTACs and PTHPs is not supported by clear and convincing evidence, thus, DOE is adopting the efficiency levels in ASHRAE Standard 90.1-1999 for non-standard size PTACs and PTHPs in today's final rule. This book contains: - The complete text of the 2008-10-07 Energy Conservation Program for Commercial and Industrial Equipment - Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner and Packaged Terminal Heat Pump (US Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Office Regulation) (EERE) (2018 Edition) - A table of contents with the page number of each section

Book Heat Pumps for Sustainable Heating and Cooling

Download or read book Heat Pumps for Sustainable Heating and Cooling written by Y. H. Venus Lun and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-11-13 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights the significance of using sustainable energy to prevent the deterioration of our planet using heat pumps. Energy sustainability can be achieved through improved energy efficiency. In this regard, heat pumps offer an energy-efficient alternative for heating and cooling. To drive the adoption of heat pumps as a key component of sustainable buildings, the authors focus on examining sustainable practices in heat pump operations and innovative system design. In view of the growing desire to use sustainable energy to meet heating and cooling demands and improve indoor air quality, this book offers a valuable reference guide to the available options in HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning) system design. To begin with, the authors define sustainable energy and discuss the trend of “thinking green” in building design. They then discuss sustainable practices and heat pump applications in mapping out HVAC systems. In turn, they examine the use of green operations to promote sustainable practices and, in order to highlight the importance of innovative design, discuss the configuration options and precision control aspects. In closing, the authors illustrate innovative sustainable design on the basis of several energy-efficient cases. The book’s main goal is to drive the adoption of sustainable energy solutions. Heat pumps, it argues, represent the most efficient system for meeting commercial/recreational/residential heating and cooling demands. The book not only examines industrial practices in heat pump application, but also discusses advanced heat pump technologies and innovative heat pump designs.
