Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

  • Publisher : Cambridge Scholars Publishing
  • Release : 2014-06-12
  • ISBN : 1443861669

Download or read book Esther Tusquets written by Nina L. Molinaro and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2014-06-12 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume reviews and revisits the life and work of Spanish writer, editor, and intellectual Esther Tusquets (1936–2012). The author of some seven novels, three collections of short stories, two books for children, seven volumes of essays and memoirs, and an extensive corpus of journalistic and other short prose texts, Tusquets’s contributions to contemporary Spanish culture and literature are vast and heterogeneous. Most academic scholarship to date has been dedicated to Tusquets’s groundbreaking novelistic trilogy (El mismo mar de todos los veranos [1978], El amor es un juego solitario [1979], Varada tras el último naufragio [1980]) and to her unified short-story collection, Siete miradas en el mismo paisaje (1979). The essays contained in Esther Tusquets: Scholarly Correspondences offer new readings of the author’s canonical fiction and delve into the largely unexplored terrain of her non-fiction. Participating faculty-scholars include Nina L. Molinaro (University of Colorado at Boulder); Maureen Tobin Stanley (University of Minnesota Duluth); Inmaculada Pertusa-Seva (Western Kentucky University); Laura Lonsdale (Queen’s College, University of Oxford); Stacey Dolgin Casado (University of Georgia); Abigail Lee Six (Royal Holloway, University of London); María Elena Soliño (University of Houston); Mayte de Lama (Elon University); Catherine G. Bellver (University of Nevada, Las Vegas); Rosalía Cornejo Parriego (University of Ottawa); Meri Torras Francès (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona); and Mary S. Vázquez (Davidson College). The volume concludes with a complete bibliography by Tiffany L. Malloy of works by and about Tusquets.

Book Desire and Human Flourishing

Download or read book Desire and Human Flourishing written by Magdalena Bosch and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-07-23 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the concept of desire as a positive factor in human growth and flourishing. All human decision-making is preceded by some kind of desire, and we act upon desires by either rejecting or following them. It argues that our views on and expressions of desire in various facets of life and through time have differed according to how human beings are taught to desire. Therefore, the concept has tremendous potential to affect human beings positively and to enable personal growth. Though excellent research has been done on the concepts of flourishing, character education and positive psychology, no other work has linked the concept of desire to all of these topics. Featuring key references, explanations of central concepts, and significant practical applications of desire to various fields of human thought and action, the book will be of interest to students and researchers in the fields of positive psychology, positive education, moral philosophy, and virtue ethics.

Download or read book INFLUENCER written by Sonia González Boysen and published by Whitaker House. This book was released on 2024-01-15 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: INFLUENCER: Communication for Leaders in the Digital Age. This is an invitation, including a wake-up call, to rethink the power of conscious and positive influence. Influence is not an exclusive profession of the so-called “influencers”, “content creators” of social networks, which companies seek to market their products. Just as conscious leadership seeks to focus more on people than on results, on the “who” rather than on the “how”, now we must aim towards a conscious influence, focused on adding value, under this premise: It is about “them”, “not about “you”. Conscious influence is aimed at influencing through purposeful communication, aimed at transforming, inspiring and motivating change and the continuous development of people. Not to be swept away by the overwhelming trend of decadent communication that gives the power of influence to: • People who only love themselves and money • Pretentious, arrogant, daring, ungrateful leaders, without faith and without love • Implacable, those who like to practice bullying – harassment – and slander • Those who do not have self-control or emotional intelligence • Someone aggressive, not loyal, or prudent • Proud and lovers of their pleasures and vices more than God himself. The “why” of your message should be the beginning, the thread, and the closure of everything you say and publish. To achieve this, you must ask yourself these questions: what do I want to say? Why do I want to say it? And… most importantly: what do I want to say it for? All this and more awaits you with INFLUENCER: Communication for Leaders in the Digital Age.

  • Release : 2008
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 314 pages

Download or read book De lo humano written by Ute Eskildsen and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1977, this book brings together what is known about liberal feminist and socialist movements for the emancipation of women all over the world in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It deals not only with Britain and the United States but also with Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Russia, Austria-Hungary and the Scandinavian countries. The chapters trace the origins, development, and eventual collapse of these movements in relation to the changing social formations and political structures of Europe, America and Australasia in the era of bourgeois liberalism. The first part of the book discusses the origins of feminist movements and advances a model or 'ideal type' description of their development. The second part then takes a number of case studies of individual feminist movements to illustrate the main varieties of organised feminism and the differences from country to country. The third part looks at socialist women's movements and includes a study of the Socialist Women's International. A final part touches on the reason for the eclipse of women's emancipation movements in the half-century following the end of the First World War, before a general conclusion pulls together some of the arguments advanced in earlier chapters and attempts a comparison between these feminist movements of 1840-1920 and the Women's Liberation Movement.
