Download or read book Care Planning written by Barrett David and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-08-15 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This clear and intuitive introduction to care planning for nurses explains the benefits of holistic, individualised care planning from a professional and clinical perspective. Using the ASPIRE model, it guides the reader step-by-step through a problem-solving approach to care, from assessing patients and identifying their needs, to planning goals and interventions, and evaluating progress. The book is structured to explain the theory of care planning in relation to a number of common nursing models and then show how the theory can best be put into practice. It draws on recent research to show how nurses can develop individualised care plans from scratch or use and adapt a range of ‘off-the-shelf’ tools. It is written in a clear, succinct and down-to-earth writing style, which will put students immediately at their ease, and is rich with pedagogic features, including: ‘Stop and think’ boxes to check understanding; boxed ‘Practice examples’ to illustrate points made; ‘Research summary’ boxes to highlight relevant and important studies; ‘What have you learnt so far?’ features to recap on key points of discussion; mini care plans; regular activities to encourage the reader to apply what they have learnt to particular practice scenarios. This is a go-to text for all pre-registration nursing students taking courses on the theory and practice of effective healthcare delivery.

Download or read book Comprehensive Casebook of Cognitive Therapy written by Frank M. Dattilio and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the golden age of cognitive therapy. Its popularity among society and the professional community is growing by leaps and bounds. What is it and what are its limits? What is the fundamental nature of cognitive therapy? It is, to my way of thinking, simple but profound. To understand it, it is useful to think back to the history of behavior therapy, to the basic development made by Joseph Wolpe. In the 1950s, Wolpe astounded the therapeutic world and infuriated his colleagues by finding a simple cure for phobias. The psychoanalytic establishment held that phobias-irrational and intense fear of certain objects, such as cats-were just surface manifesta tions of deeper, underlying disorders. The psychoanalysts said their source was the buried fear in male children of castration by the father in retaliation for the son's lust for his mother. For females, this fear is directed toward the opposite sex parent. The biomedical theorists, on the other hand, claimed that some as yet undiscovered disorder in brain chemistry must be the underlying problem. Both groups insisted that to treat only the patient's fear of cats would do no more good than it would to put rouge over measles. Wolpe, however, reasoned that irrational fear of something isn't just a symptom of a phobia; it is the whole phobia.

LILAC LOVE is a small town witchy friends-to-lovers romance that will melt your heart and make you believe in love again! When Amanda moves to the sleepy small town of Glen Haven, the best part, as far as she’s concerned, is that the locals don’t like newbies. In fact, she’s counting on everyone leaving her alone to hike in the woods and pick up the pieces of her life. Amanda’s running—more like sprinting—from a dark and dangerous past, and she doesn’t need anyone poking their nose into her business, trying to be friends… or even something more. So when she meets sweet, sultry Elsie, she desperately tries to keep her distance. She knows how badly it can hurt when someone you care about lets you down. Better not to let anyone in in the first place. But now she's living with Elsie, and she finds herself wanting to be with her all the time, to share things about herself nobody knows. The two form a fast, if unlikely, friendship, and Amanda begins to believe she could trust, and maybe even love, again. Except Elsie’s keeping a secret. A big secret. Something that no one else in Glen Haven knows. She’s a witch, and the woods where her feisty new housemate Amanda loves to hike are in danger from a dark, sinister magic. Can Elsie tell Amanda her secret and enlist her help to find the magical culprit without risking the growing attraction between them? Elsie knows that witches and 'normys' can't be happy together, can they? You’ll love this closed-door small town romance with a dash of dark mystery, baking and a rambunctious puppy! Lilac Love is a whimsical witchy love story that will light the candle in anyone’s heart. Perfect for fans of Gilmore Girls, Charmed, and The Only Purple House in Town.
