Tesla would undergo a hellish fifteen years, beset by rivals—pressured by investors, hobbled by whistleblowers. Musk often found himself in the public’s crosshairs, threatening to bring down the company he had helped build. As the Roadster's Product Architect, prior to becoming CEO, Musk won a Global Green Award that was presented to him by Mikhail Gorbachev. The Tesla Model S is expected to ship in June of 2012, and analysts have stated the future of the company hinges specifically on how well these do in the marketplace. Book excerpt: Get inside the head of one of the most compelling entrepreneurs of our time with this collection of quotes from global business icon Elon Musk, the founder and CEO of Tesla Motors and SpaceX. Elon Musk, the South African-born entrepreneur who made his first fortune with Internet companies such as PayPal, has risen to global prominence as the visionary CEO of both Tesla Motors and SpaceX, two companies with self-proclaimed missions to improve life as we know it and better secure the future of humanity. Now, the most insightful, thought-provoking, and revealing quotes from this entrepreneurial engineer have been compiled into a single book. SpaceX, the first private company to launch, orbit, and recover a rocket and dock at the International Space Station, has drastically reduced the cost of launching and manufacturing reusable spacecraft, which the company sees as the first step toward its "ultimate goal" of making life multiplanetary. In the words of Richard Branson, "Whatever skeptics have said can’t be done, Elon has gone out and made real." Newly updated and repackaged from its original publication in 2017 as Rocket Man: Elon Musk In His Own Words, this book curates Musk quotes from interviews, public appearances, online postings, company blogs, press releases, and more. Book Elon Musk

Download or read book Elon Musk written by Walter Isaacson and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2023-09-12 with total page 558 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: #1 New York Times non-fiction bestseller #2 Sunday Times non-fiction bestseller SHORTLISTED FOR THE FINANCIAL TIMES BUSINESS BOOK OF THE YEAR AWARD CHOSEN AS A BOOK OF THE YEAR BY APPLE, AMAZON, THE TIMES AND FINANCIAL TIMES Epic feats. Epic failures. An epic story. Walter Isaacson charts Elon Musk’s journey from humble beginnings to one of the wealthiest people on the planet – but is Musk a genius or a jerk? From the author of Steve Jobs and other bestselling biographies, this is the astonishingly intimate story of Elon Musk, the most fascinating and controversial innovator of our era – a rule-breaking visionary who helped to lead the world into the era of electric vehicles, private space exploration and artificial intelligence. Oh, and took over Twitter. When Elon Musk was a kid in South Africa, he was regularly beaten by bullies. One day a group pushed him down some concrete steps and kicked him until his face was a swollen ball of flesh. He was in the hospital for a week. But the physical scars were minor compared to the emotional ones inflicted by his father, an engineer, rogue and charismatic fantasist. His father’s impact on his psyche would linger. He developed into a tough yet vulnerable man-child with an exceedingly high tolerance for risk, a craving for drama, an epic sense of mission, and a maniacal intensity that was callous and at times destructive. At the beginning of 2022 – after a year marked by SpaceX launching thirty-one rockets into orbit, Tesla selling a million cars, and him becoming the richest man on earth – Musk spoke ruefully about his compulsion to stir up dramas. ‘I need to shift my mindset away from being in crisis mode, which it has been for about fourteen years now, or arguably most of my life,’ he said. It was a wistful comment, not a New Year’s resolution. Even as he said it, he was secretly buying up shares of Twitter, the world’s ultimate playground. Over the years, whenever he was in a dark place, his mind went back to being bullied on the playground. Now he had the chance to own the playground. For two years, Walter Isaacson had unprecedented access. He shadowed Musk, attended his meetings, walked his factories with him and spent hours interviewing him, his family, friends, coworkers and adversaries. The result is the revealing inside story, filled with amazing tales of triumphs and turmoil, that addresses the question: are the demons that drive Musk also what it takes to drive innovation and progress? The book includes over 100 integrated black and white images.

Book Elon Musk

Download or read book Elon Musk written by Grid and published by Grid. This book was released on 2024-01-23 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the biography of Elon Musk that everyone has been waiting for... He is a man who needs no introduction. He's the billionaire tech mogul who founded SpaceX, Tesla, and Neuralink. He's also the guy who tweeted that he was going to take Tesla private and then didn't. And he's the guy who smoked weed on a Joe Rogan podcast. But before he was all that, Elon Musk was just a kid from South Africa with a big dream. He wanted to make the world a better place, and he figured the best way to do that was to start a bunch of companies that would revolutionize the way we live, work, and travel. So, without further ado, I present to you the funny version of Elon Musk's biography: Elon Musk was born in Pretoria, South Africa, in 1971. He was a bright kid, but he was also a bit of a nerd. He loved computers and science fiction, and he dreamed of one day going to Mars. When Elon was 12 years old, he sold his first computer program for $500. He used the money to buy a new computer, and he was off to the races. After high school, Elon moved to Canada to attend Queen's University. He later transferred to the University of Pennsylvania, where he received bachelor's degrees in physics and economics. After college, Elon moved to Silicon Valley to start his first company, Zip2. Zip2 was a web software company that provided maps and business directories to online newspapers. Zip2 was acquired by Compaq Computers in 1999 for $307 million. After selling Zip2, Elon started X.com, an online financial services company. X.com merged with Confinity in 2000 to form PayPal, which specialized in transferring money online. PayPal was acquired by eBay in 2002 for $1.5 billion. In 2002, Elon founded SpaceX, an aerospace manufacturer and space transport services company. SpaceX has developed launch vehicles and spacecraft that are designed to reduce the cost of space travel and enable the colonization of Mars. In 2008, Elon became the CEO of Tesla Motors, an electric car company that he had invested in in 2004. Tesla has become the world's leading electric car company, and its products are known for their long range, performance, and advanced technology. Elon Musk is a visionary entrepreneur who is passionate about using technology to solve some of the world's biggest problems. He is also a bit of a goofball. Here are a few funny Elon Musk quotes: "I think the best way to predict the future is to create it." "If you're not embarrassed by the first version of your product, you've launched too late." "I'm not a genius. I'm just a guy who works really hard." "I'm not afraid of failure. I've failed so many times, I've lost all fear of it." "I'm not a politician. I'm an engineer." Elon Musk is a complex and fascinating figure. He's a brilliant entrepreneur, a visionary leader, and a bit of a goofball. He's also one of the most influential people in the world today. So, next time you're thinking about Elon Musk, just remember that he's just a guy who's trying to make the world a better place, one tweet at a time.

Book Insane Mode

Download or read book Insane Mode written by Hamish McKenzie and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2019-10-08 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A USA Today New and Noteworthy Title “You’ll tell me if it ever starts getting genuinely insane, right?”—Elon Musk, TED interview Hamish McKenzie tells how a Silicon Valley start-up's wild dream came true. Tesla is a car company that stood up against not only the might of the government-backed Detroit car manufacturers but also the massive power of Big Oil and its benefactors, the infamous Koch brothers. The award-winning Tesla Model 3, a premium mass-market electric car that went on sale in 2018, has reconfigured the popular perception of Tesla and continues to transform the public's relationship with motor vehicles—much like Ford's Model T did nearly a century ago. At the same time, company CEO Elon Musk courts controversy and spars with critics through his Twitter account, just as Tesla's ever-increasing debt teeters on junk bond status.... As McKenzie's rigorously reported account shows, Tesla has triggered frenzied competition from newcomers and traditional automakers alike, but it retains an edge because of its expansive infrastructure and the stupendous battery factory it built in the Nevada desert. The popularity of electric cars is growing around the world, especially in China, and McKenzie interviews little-known titans who have the money and the market access to power a global electric car revolution quickly and decisively. Insane Mode started off as a feature on the dual-motor Tesla Model S, which gave the car Ferrari-like acceleration, but it's also the perfect description of the operating cycle of a company that has sworn it won't rest until every car on the road is electric. Here is a story about the very best kind of American ingenuity and its history-making potential. Buckle up!

In addition to his primary business pursuits, he has envisioned a high-speed transportation system known as the Hyperloop, and has proposed a vertical take-off and landing supersonic jet aircraft with electric fan propulsion, known as the Musk electric jet. Musk also founded The Boring Company in 2016.
