Book excerpt: This audit by the Auditor General of British Columbia examined whether the Ministry of Health Services has appropriate and effective mechanisms in place to guide, monitor and report on the implementation of its electronic health record (EHR) system while meeting the goals of a Canada-wide compatible EHR system. Specifically, the Auditor General expected the ministry to be: planning for, directing and guiding the implementation of an EHR system for British Columbia that would be compatible with that for the country as a whole; managing projects based on recognized project management methodology to achieve expected results, including that of establishing a compatible EHR; and reporting on progress in achieving the goals identified in its EHR strategic plan. The already completed procurement process was not examined because audit work was already being undertaken by the Office of the Comptroller General of British Columbia. The audit consists of an executive summary, the response from the Ministry of Health Services, and a detailed report of the audit itself.--Includes text from document.

It was known as Information Technology and Communications in Health (ITCH) 2007; with the same acronym but with a different meaning as demanded by its international appeal and wider choice of subject areas. The conference in 2007 was an unmatched success and for the conference of 2009, an even more eventful convention is expected, which encourages experts to demonstrate and share their experiences and knowledge. The theme for the ITCH 2009 conference is ‘Revolutionizing Health Care with Informatics: From Research to Practice’.
