Book excerpt: Are you an open-minded spiritual practitioner? A seeker of truth and knowledge? Someone who is willing to discuss alternate perspectives? Then this book is for you. Here within is my attempt at finding the truth behind the purpose and origin of the Elder Futhark as well as intuitively deciphering their somewhat obscure meanings. At a glance this book provides: * Discussion on how runes became a language used for divination * Modern meaning interpretations for each rune * Abstract geometric artwork for each rune * Additional western alchemical and astronomical associations for each rune * Several overview tables and references In this context, this book does not discuss the traditional meanings or interpretations of the runes, but rather more modern outlooks and perspectives on each. Instead of adding more content to already confusing and conflicting traditional/conventional meanings - I have opted for the opposite, to simplify rather than complicate. I have tried to distill the core of each rune through my studies into their history, linguistics and metaphysics in order to make clear delineations between the runes. Thus, brief mentions are made to traditional meanings in favour of more discussion around the transference of the runes into our daily lives with reference to more familiar circumstances and challenges. I am quite partial to the metaphysical symbolism of animals, plants and objects, thus this book includes plenty representations form the animal kingdom as well as everyday objects and some minor contributions from herbology. I have tried to keep to the mythology related to the Germanic tribes and to the everyday references of people living in Iron Age Europe. Therefore, some of my interpretations are similar to their traditional counterparts, but the majority of them have been cast anew. I truly appreciate any reviews, feedback and recommendations as I am constantly striving towards improving this runic body of work to make it more relatable to my fellow rune enthusiasts!

Book Celestial Rune Sigils

  • Pages : 103 pages

Download or read book Celestial Rune Sigils written by All Natural Spirit and published by . This book was released on 2020-07-10 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first and only book (which I am aware of) that is exclusively dedicated to a comprehensive system of bind runes created from the Elder Futhark! At a glance, it provides the following: * Easy-to-read and easy-to-use information with no expert rune knowledge required * Contains 24 black and white Elder Futhark bind runes, each with an unique stanza * Discusses the bind runes as active tools for magick, spiritual and/or self-empowerment rituals * Guidance on the purpose and use of each bindrune * Designs include additional western alchemical elements as well as a novel alchemical symbol of my own design My studies into the Elder Futhark, which have fascinated me since childhood, have been converted into a coherent system of bindrunes for everyday use without the requirement of expert knowledge. I have named this bindrune project; the Celestial Rune Sigils. It started as a set of magickal tools with which to facilitate self-improvement through the exploration of spirituality. Subsequently, I have transformed the bindrunes into a set of 24 black and white sigils, representative of their origins from the 24 Elder Futhark Runes. The sigils were initially featured on the Celestial Rune Sigils oracle deck (more details on my website) and now they have been converted into book format as well! In this book I provide guidance on the crafting, uses and invocation of the Celestial Rune Sigils. These sigils are not merely meant for use in divination, but rather they have a more active role with each sigil having a specific intention and contribution towards metaphysical, spiritual and magickal rituals. Therefore, the Celestial Rune Sigils are not only restricted to tarot readers or oracle enthusiasts. They have been created for the larger metaphysical community and would be of special interest to our energy workers and magick wielders. They are appropriate for most ages, including the very young and those who are wiser, since they can be used for both personal rituals and to assist clients during various healing and/or magick sessions. The Celestial Rune Sigils represent a metaphysical, spiritual or magickal toolbox, with each sigil representing a different metaphysical tool. Each sigil can be used in this way, much as one would use a wand, crystal or other spiritual tool. There is a lot of freedom as to how precisely to apply each card and I hope that the practitioners who make use of this book will find their own intuitive ways of applying each of the sigils during their spiritual journeys and magickal rituals. I appreciate any feedback, comments and/or reviews about this book as I am constantly striving to improve on the system and to make it relatable to all my fellow rune enthusiasts!

Book Revival of the Runes

Download or read book Revival of the Runes written by Stephen E. Flowers and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2021-03-02 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: • Explores the five periods of runic revival: the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, the Romantic period, the early 20th century, and the late 20th century • Examines the use of runes by the foremost magicians and scholars of each era, including mystic and scholar Johannes Bureus, who developed his own integrated system of runology known as Adalruna • Reveals how the Nazi misguided use of the runes showed a lack of comprehension of what was being discovered by scientific rune scholars of the day In this exploration of the history of the runes from 1500 CE to the present day, Stephen Edred Flowers examines the five periods of runic revival: the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, the Romantic period, the early 20th century, and the late 20th century. For each period, he discusses both the scholarly studies and those focused on the esoteric mysteries of the runes--and how these two branches of study were at first intertwined yet diverged in later revivals. Focusing in particular on the first runic revival, Flowers examines the use of runes during the Renaissance by the foremost magicians and scholars of the era, including mystic and scholar Johannes Bureus, the “grandfather of integral runology,” who developed his own system known as Adalruna. In his examination of the runic reawakenings of the early and late 20th century, Flowers looks at how the runes were employed as part of a reassessment of Germanic identity, one school of which led to Nazi Germany. He explains how the Nazi use and abuse of the runes was misguided and revealed a lack of comprehension of what earlier rune scholars had discovered through their extensive studies of the past. He also offers a fresh look at the work of Guido von List and clears him of his guilt by association with the Nazis. Detailing the multilayered history of the runes, the author reveals the integrated way the predecessors of today’s rune workers thought and conceived of the runes, highlighting how their discoveries helped shape modern magical practices and scholarly studies. He calls for a return of integral runology as was practiced during the Renaissance and before. By reuniting the two branches of runic study, blending the scientific with the magical, we make way for new discoveries in runology and a chance for a full-scale reawakening of integrated runic knowledge.

Book Wisdom of the Druids The Book of Nabelkos

Download or read book Wisdom of the Druids The Book of Nabelkos written by Gwenaël D'Echebrune and published by Theurgia. This book was released on 2020-08-25 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Western spiritual tradition has a long history dating back to the dawn of humanity. One of the consequences of Christianity was to hide and distort the thousands of years that preceded it. Whether around the Mediterranean basin or in the lands of Europe, rites handed down from generation to generation formed the real basis of this Western tradition. To believe that they were replaced for the better by a new religion is a mistake. The notion of progress does not exist for religious or spiritual systems. Gods and Goddesses are rejected, beaten, and sometimes replaced by new ones. Some disappear for a while and reappear in cycles that initiates have learned to decipher.Among the fascinating traditions coming from Gaul, today's France, Druidism and the Celtic mysteries have acquired an essential place that has too often been neglected by the occultists of the 19th century. Some individuals have had the privilege of open the curtains of mist and receiving messages from the immortal gods.Characteristic of a land and lineage, these communications are important. The "Book of Nabelkos," which has been translated into English by Jean-Marie Avril belongs to this story. This book constituted the doctrinal and prophetic heart of an Order bearing the beautiful name of "Hermetic Order of the Silver Ermine."It is a magnificent example that demonstrates the vitality of a pre-Christian tradition still alive today. Its style manifests its roots and the authenticity of the shamanic experience that gave birth to it.

Book excerpt: The mid-twentieth century saw the birth of popular occultism in Europe and the New World, including an interest in witchcraft. Chief among these was Wicca, a recension of ceremonial magic and nature worship advanced by Gerald Gardner and Alex Sanders, now widely regarded as a religion. However, lesser-known streams of the witch-current thrived the shadows, having older historical roots, and linked to a body of practice - witch-bottles, knotted cord spells, curses, exorcisms, sexual magic, and charms ranging from the conjuration of angels to protection for livestock and hearth. This is Traditional Witchcraft, whose origin in part lies with the sorcery of the cunning-folk of Britain and Colonial America. Eschewing the popular occult limelight, its perpetuation as a mystery-cult continues as a largely closed group of initiates. Now revised and expanded, the second edition of CHILDREN OF CAIN is the definitive history of Traditional Witchcraft and its key operatives in Britain and the United States, and is based on over forty years of research and private collaboration with practitioners of this mysterious form of folk magic.

Download or read book The Return of Odin written by Richard Rudgley and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2018-03-13 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A controversial examination of the influence and presence of the Norse god Odin in contemporary history and culture • Documents Odin’s role in the rise of Nazi Germany, the 1960s counterculture revolution, nationalist and ecological political movements, and the occult revival • Examines the spiritual influence of Odin in relation to Jesus Christ • Profiles key individuals instrumental in the rise of the modern pagan renaissance Exploring the influence of the Norse god Odin in the modern world, Richard Rudgley reveals Odin’s central role in the pagan revival and how this has fueled a wide range of cultural movements and phenomena, including Nazi Germany, the 1960s counterculture revolution, the Lord of the Rings, the ecology movement, and the occult underground. Rudgley argues that it is Odin and not Jesus Christ who is the single most important spiritual influence in modern Western civilization. He analyzes the Odin archetype--first revealed by Carl Jung’s famous essay on Wotan--in the context of pagan religious history and explains the ancient idea of the Web--a cosmic field of energies that encompasses time, space, and the hidden potentials of humanity—the pagan equivalent to the Tao of Eastern tradition. The author examines the importance of the concept of wyrd, which corresponds to “fate” or “destiny,” exploring techniques to read destiny such as the Runes as well as the existence of yoga in prehistoric and pagan Europe, which later produced the Norse Utiseta, an ancient system of meditation. Rudgley documents how the Odin archetype came into play in Nazi Germany with the rise of Hitler and the pagan counterculture of the 1960s. He examines how the concept of subterranean and mythic realms, such as the Hollow Earth, Thule, and Agartha, and mysterious energies like Vril were manifested in both occult and profane ways and investigates key occult figures like Madame Blavatsky, Guido von List, and Karl Wiligut. He provides pagan analyses of Tolkien and the Lord of the Rings and documents the impact the Odin archetype has had on nationalist and fascist groups in America and Europe. Examining pagan groups in Europe and America that use the Norse template, Rudgley reveals true paganism as holistic and intimately connected with the forces at work in the life of the planet. Showing how this “green” paganism can be beneficial for dealing with the adverse consequences of globalization and the ongoing ecological crisis, he explains how, when repressed, the Odin archetype is responsible for regressive tendencies and even mass-psychosis--a reflection of the unprecedented chaos of Ragnarok--but if embraced, the Odin archetype makes it possible for like-minded traditions to work together in the service of life.

Book excerpt: This modern guide explains everything you need to know to start doing your own in-depth rune readings. The descriptions are rich and accurate, based on new translations of the original rune poems. J. Hamburger combines deep respect for the ancient texts with practical rune-reading experience to bring you a truly authentic and inspiring book.Rune reading is a tool for gaining insight. Some see it as divination-a way of tapping into hidden knowledge. Others use it for self-reflection or focusing intention. Consulting the runes can be like talking to an old friend: you may know the truth, but sometimes you need to hear it before you believe it. However you use them, these ancient symbols will help you access your intuitive wisdom. Before Christianity spread to northern Europe, the indigenous peoples of the region were Germanic tribes, like the Anglo-Saxons, Goths, and Norsemen. Runes were the letters of their alphabets. Over time these letters developed rich symbolic meanings, passed down through poems and myths. Like most pre-Christian cultures, the Germanic peoples were polytheistic, and they revered natural elements as sacred. When you pick up the runes, you are entering a vibrant world, grounded in nature and everyday life, yet full of heroes, gods, and mythology. Most of what we know about runes comes from just a few ancient poems. It may be tempting to focus on the "nicer" elements from each poem, overlooking anything too difficult or unpleasant, but it's clear from the poems that runes have a dark side-and we know from history that the people who used them were both fearless and fearsome. This book doesn't leave anything out. All of the mystical depth is there, and so is the fighting spirit.
