Book Effect of Heat on the Strength of Cement Mortar

Download or read book Effect of Heat on the Strength of Cement Mortar written by Herbert Clinton Beck and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-04-30 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Effect of Heat on the Strength of Cement Mortar: Thesis With the present extensive use of mortar and concrete as building materials and as fireproofing materials their action uh der high temperature has become of much interest. If a concrete structure be subjected to the intense heat of a fire it is impera tive to Know to what extent its walls and floors have been damaged. The object of the tests herin described was to discover if possible the initial temperature at which mortar begins to lose its strength and also to discover whether or not there is a defi nite relation between loss of strength and temperature. AS a matter of convenience in heating the tests were made on small cubes of cement mortar rather than on larger ones of concrete. Book Concrete at High Temperatures

Download or read book Concrete at High Temperatures written by Zdeněk P. Bažant and published by Prentice Hall. This book was released on 1996 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the increased use of concrete in high temperature environments, it is essential for engineers to have a knowledge of the properties and mathematical modelling of concrete in such extreme conditions. Bringing together, for the first time, vast amounts of data previously scattered throughout numerous papers and periodicals, this book provides, in two parts, a comprehensive and systematic review of both the properties and the mathematical modelling of concrete at high temperatures. Part I provides a comprehensive description of the material properties of concrete at high temperatures. Assuming only a basic knowledge of mathematics, the information is presented at an elementary level suitable for graduates of civil engineering or materials science. Part II describes the response of concrete to high temperatures in precise terms based on mathematical modelling of physical processes. Suitable for advanced graduate students, researchers and specialists, it presents detailed mathematical models of phenomena such as heat transfer, moisture diffusion, creep, volume changes, cracking and fracture. Concrete at High Temperatures will prove a valuable reference source to university researchers and graduate students in civil engineering and materials science, engineers in research laboratories, and practising engineers concerned with fire resistance, concrete structures for nuclear reactors and chemical technology vessels.

Book Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Composites Second Edition

Download or read book Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Composites Second Edition written by Arnon Bentur and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2006-11-22 with total page 625 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced cementitious composites can be designed to have outstanding combinations of strength (five to ten times that of conventional concrete) and energy absorption capacity (up to 1000 times that of plain concrete). This second edition brings together in one volume the latest research developments in this rapidly expanding area. The book is split into two parts. The first part is concerned with the mechanics of fibre reinforced brittle matrices and the implications for cementitious systems. In the second part the authors describe the various types of fibre-cement composites, discussing production processes, mechanical and physical properties, durability and applications. Two new chapters have been added, covering fibre specification and structural applications. Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Composites will be of great interest to practitioners involved in modern concrete technology and will also be of use to academics, researchers and graduate students.

Book Compressive Strength of Concrete

Download or read book Compressive Strength of Concrete written by Pavel Krivenko and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2020-03-11 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concrete made using mineral cements, the raw materials which on earth are practically endless, is known as one of the oldest building materials and during the last decades of the twentieth century has become a dominant building material for general use. At the same time, the requirements of the quality of concrete and its performance properties, in particular compressive strength, durability, economical efficiency, and low negative impact of its manufacture on the environment have not yet been completely met. Bearing these requirements in mind, researchers and engineers worldwide are working on how to satisfy these requirements. This book has been written by researchers and experts in the field and provides the state of the art on recent progress achieved on the properties of concrete, including concrete in which industrial by-products are utilized. The book is dedicated to graduate students, researchers, and practicing engineers in related fields.
