Book excerpt: Titriyor sesimiz. Yanımızdakine bile duyuramıyoruz sesimizi. Sislerle örülü coğrafyada yazmak hem zorlaşıyor hem daha bir anlam kazanıyor.. Kuşluk saatlerinde alazlanan, ikindi sularını bereketlendiren, her vakit bizi sınayan, kendimiz olmaya çağıran yüce duyguyla yüzleşmeliyiz. Hemen ve daha sıklıkta yüzleşmeliyiz. Özgür ortamlar sanatın, edebiyatın boyverdiği, geliştiği en güzel yerlerdir. Eğer inanıyorsak, samimi olarak isteğimizi ortaya koyabiliyorsak bunu başarabiliriz.. İnanarak, samimiyetle.. Ve çok çalışarak..

Book Directory of Scholarly Journals in Turkey

Download or read book Directory of Scholarly Journals in Turkey written by Metin Kozak and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2017-03-07 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scholarly journals are the capillaries of the scientific world, ensuring the circulation of knowledge. Moreover, scholarly journals guide and indicate the scientific development in an academic field of study or in a country. Scholarly journals, which transfer and spread scientific information, are intended to properly fulfill their functions, preventing the transfer of imperfect or incorrect information to the science world. Significant issues are, therefore, inevitable in the characteristics of scientific studies in such disciplines and countries where the scholarly journals do not fulfill their functions properly. This study encompasses all scholarly journals published in Turkey in all fields of science and other disciplines. The reference questions in this study are grouped under three main categories: the contact and publication information, article evaluation, and publishing information. The number of journals in this present study totals 1,910.

Download or read book The Garden of the Mosques written by Crane and published by BRILL. This book was released on 1999-11-23 with total page 659 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an annotated translation of what is perhaps the most important Ottoman literary source for the Islamic monuments of the Ottoman capital, Istanbul: Hafız Hüseyin bin Ismail Ayvansarayî's Hadikat al-Cevami (The Garden of Mosques). Long recognized by Turkish scholars as a unique source for the city's architecture and urban form, the text, which was completed in 1195/1780 and revised and enlarged between 1248/1832-33 and 1253/1838 by Ali Sati, contains separate descriptions of each of Istanbul's more than 800 mosques, plus accounts of its medreses, tombs, tekkes and other monuments. The annotations place each of these buildings within the city's urban plan and provide biographical information about the patrons, architects and other personalities mentioned in the text. An introductory essay gives an account of Ayvansarayî's life and works, describes the various manuscript versions of the text and reviews the cartographic resources available for the study of Istanbul's urban form.

Landau appears to have consulted every conceivable source, including archives and collections... In addition, the book is useful to students of pan-nationalism and nationalism, for Landau also expertly places all his information into a larger theoretical context. This contribution to the literature is invaluable. -- Journal of Developing Areas... a most worthwhile work, ... It... deserves to be in all library collections on the Middle East. -- Perspectives on Political ScienceLandau has provided an up-to-date compendium of facts concerning the history of these nationalist ideas and movements. Students of nationalism in general and the politics of post-Soviet Central Asia and the Turkish Republic in particular will remain greatly indebted to [Landau] for some considerable time. -- American Political Science ReviewAn examination of relations between Turks in Turkey and their kin abroad -- in Cyprus, the Balkans, and especially in the six ex-Soviet Muslim republics in the Caucasus and Central Asia. This book delineates the special relationship between the new republics and Turkey, which has altered the essence of Pan-Turkism from militant irredentism to practical solidarity in matters political, economic, and cultural.

Shared book reading allows different mathematical conversations to pass between parent or teacher and child. Shared book reading improves children’s problem-solving skills, allows for an exchange of ideas, establishes logical, and may prompt discussion of abstract concepts. This chapter reviews how children learn mathematics and research on the use of storybooks for mathematics skill development. It concludes with examples of how explicit and implicit storybooks, in either paper or digital versions, may be used. Keywords: Storybooks, mathematics, children’s learning of mathematics, children’s development

Book Research Anthology on Feminist Studies and Gender Perceptions

Download or read book Research Anthology on Feminist Studies and Gender Perceptions written by Management Association, Information Resources and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2022-01-21 with total page 779 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Global society has always been impacted by the perception of gender. While gender roles may differ in certain cultures, many cultures around the world have allowed for the disempowerment and objectification of women. Women today still struggle for gender equality whether it be professionally, socially, or even legally. To examine feminism thoroughly, however, thorough analysis must be conducted on all genders and perceptions. The Research Anthology on Feminist Studies and Gender Perceptions explores the application of feminist theory and women empowerment in the 21st century and the role that gender plays in society. This book analyzes media representation, gender performativity, and theory to present a comprehensive view of gender and society. Covering topics such as masculinity, women empowerment, and gender equality, this two-volume comprehensive major reference work is an essential resource for sociologists, community leaders, human resource managers, activists, students and professors of higher education, researchers, and academicians.

Book Interdisciplinary Studies in Turkey

Download or read book Interdisciplinary Studies in Turkey written by Eyup Saritas and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2016-04-30 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The information age facilitates life easier on the one hand and enables all to have access to any desired information in the shortest possible time. Scientific studies that are products of great efforts keep pace with globalism to a substantial extent, thanks to advanced technologies that shorten long distances. As scientists, we need to disregard negative impacts of globalism on all aspects of life and endeavour to make use of its positive effects. Consequently, as scientists that come up with good works after long and dedicated efforts, we need to cut off ties with locality in modern information age. As it will be seen, what is meant by locality is not scientists' working on local issues but addressing to a group limited to one's own country only. For instance, a scientific paper published in Turkey about a village or borough in Ankara might not easily exceed the narrow restriction of locality. Likewise, publishing in Dutch a scientific work on a historical or social problem in the city of Leiden would be hardly possible to provide scientifically influential conclusions.

Book Environment and Ecology in the Mediterranean Region

Download or read book Environment and Ecology in the Mediterranean Region written by Recep Efe and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2012-03-15 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Mediterranean Basin with its mountainous shores, high biodiversity and spectacular scenery is located at the intersection of Africa and Eurasia. Through the 8000 years of human development in this area, there have been tremendous changes in its history and biogeography. Approximately 300 million people live here today. Although the evergreen maquis, vineyards, olive plantations and natural woodlands cover the lands all over the basin, it is facing severe destruction of habitats due to deforestation, intensive grazing, fires, and in particular, a severe coastal degradation due to infrastructure development, which is changing the landscape. Both the historical heritage and geography of the land is facing a great threat due to urbanisation and fragmentation. Time has come for its inhabitants to weigh their impact on its ecogeography in order to save the biodiversity as well as the history of the basin. This book synthesises the knowledge from different disciplines so as to increase awareness among the humans in the basin.
