Book Modeling Mineral and Energy Markets

Download or read book Modeling Mineral and Energy Markets written by Walter C. Labys and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a framework for analyzing and forecasting a variety of mineral and energy markets and related industries. Such modeling activity has been at the forefront of the economic and engineering professions for some time, having received a major stimulus fC?llowing the first oil price shock in 1973. Since that time, other shocks have affected these markets and industries, causing disequilibrium economic adjustments which are difficult to analyze and to predict. Moreover, geopolitics remains an important factor which can destabilize crude oil markets and associated refining industries. Mineral and energy modeling, consequently, has become a major interest of energy-related corporations, mining and drilling companies, metal manufacturers, public utilities, investment banks,. national government agencies and international organizations. This book hopes to advance mineral and energy modeling as follows: (1) The modeling process is presented sequentially by leading the model builder from model specification, estimation, simulation, and validation to practical model applications, including explaining history, analyzing policy, and market and price forecasting; (2) New developments in modeling approaches are presented which encompass econometric market and industry models, spatial equilibrium and programming models, optimal resource depletion models, input-output models, economic sector models, and macro oriented energy interaction models (including computable general equilibrium); (3) The verification and application of the models is considered not only individually but also in relation to the performance of alternative modeling approaches; and (4) The modeling framework includes a perspective on new directions, so that the present model building advice will extend into the future.

Book Energy Modeling

  • Author : Milton F. Searl
  • Publisher : Routledge
  • Release : 2016-03-22
  • ISBN : 1317358996
  • Pages : 283 pages

Download or read book Energy Modeling written by Milton F. Searl and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-03-22 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1973, a seminar was held by Resources for the Future to bring together the new and growing community of scholars researching into the general field of energy modelling. Originally published in the same year, this report gathers together all of the papers presented at that seminar in order to further spread the results of these studies with those who were unable to attend. The papers cover a full range of techniques used for energy modelling whilst commenting on current government and industry models. This title will be of interest to students of Environmental Studies.

Book Analyzing Demand Behavior

Download or read book Analyzing Demand Behavior written by Douglas R. Bohi and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-11-26 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First Published in 2011. This title takes econometric studies as data; it examines their assumptions, investigates their methodologies, contrasts the data sets they use, and compares their results. By informing users what they can and cannot expect from researchers, it can sharpen the criteria that are used to commission such studies and judge their results. By examining an array of studies dealing with the same or related phenomena, Bohi can analyse the ways in which decisions made by researchers affect their results. All while considering inferences surrounding the role of econometric demand estimation in formulating policy and understanding demand behavior.

Book Microeconomic Modeling and Policy Analysis

Download or read book Microeconomic Modeling and Policy Analysis written by Thomas G. Cowing and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microeconomic Modeling and Policy Analysis: Studies in Residential Energy Demand analyzes the aggregates and distributional impacts from alternative energy polices related to the energy demands of residential consumers. The book also analyzes the use of micro-simulation models in the study. The book examines three alternative energy policies and their possible impacts on the residential energy demand. The text describes models on energy use including general micro-simulation and micro-simulation as applied in ""Residential End-Use Energy Planning Systems"" (REEPS) and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Residential Energy Consumption Model. The book describes REEPS as a model providing end-use specific forecasts of energy consumption at the household level. The text describes ORNL as a computationally simpler design but conceptually more complex one. The book then evaluates three different policy scenarios using each of these two models. The performance of REEPS and ORNL, as well as other dimensions of model projections, is examined. The implications regarding 1) policy analysis and 2) the use of micro simulation models are noted. The book then presents a table that summarizes the results of the comparative model evaluation. Energy policymakers, city and local government planning officials, development engineers, and environmentalists will find this book very relevant.

Book The Econometrics of Energy Demand

Download or read book The Econometrics of Energy Demand written by William A. Donnelly and published by Praeger. This book was released on 1987-07-13 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The energy crisis is the background for this insightful volume, which brings together several important strands of energy modeling work into an integrated unit. The Econometrics of Energy Demand successfully ties together, within a general policy-modeling context, models which assist in developing policy alternatives, as well as those which incorporate variables over which the decision-maker may exercise control. The process of model development includes: problem indentification; model selection; database construction; implementation and documentation.
