Book Eat Sleep Work Repeat

Download or read book Eat Sleep Work Repeat written by Bruce Daisley and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2020-02-25 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “An important reminder of simple everyday practices to improve how we all work together, which will lead to greater team and individual happiness and performance. Great results will follow.”—Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter and Square “With just 30 changes, you can transform your work experience from bland and boring (or worse) to fulfilling, fun, and even joyful.”—Daniel Pink, author of When and Drive The vice president of Twitter Europe and host of the top business podcast Eat Sleep Work Repeat offers thirty smart, research-based hacks for bringing joy and fun back into our burned out, uninspired work lives. How does a lunch break spark a burst of productivity? Can a team’s performance be improved simply by moving the location of the coffee maker? Why are meetings so often a waste of time, and how can a walking meeting actually get decisions made? As an executive with decades of management experience at top Silicon Valley companies including YouTube, Google, and Twitter, Bruce Daisley has given a lot of thought to what makes a workforce productive and what factors can improve the workplace to benefit a company’s employees, customers, and bottom line. In his debut book, he shares what he’s discovered, offering practical, often counterintuitive, insights and solutions for reinvigorating work to give us more meaning, productivity, and joy at the office. A Gallup survey of global workers revealed shocking news: only 13% of employees are engaged in their jobs. This means that burn out and unhappiness at work are a reality for the vast majority of workers. Managers—and employees themselves—can make work better. Eat Sleep Work Repeat shows them how, offering more than two dozen research-backed, user-friendly strategies, including: Go to Lunch (it makes you less tired over the weekend) Suggest a Tea Break (it increases team cohesiveness and productivity) Conduct a Pre-Mortem (foreseeing possible issues can prevent problems and creates a spirit of curiosity and inquisitiveness) “Let’s start enjoying our jobs again,” Daisley insists. “It’s time to rediscover the joy of work.”

Book excerpt: Heat up your summer with three romantic yet clean reads you can take anywhere—be it the beach, vacation, a day relaxing in the sun, or your favorite chair for a moment of downtime. In Halflings, book one of the Halflings series, after being repeatedly attacked by an evil force, seventeen-year-old Nikki finds herself under the watchful guardianship of Mace, Raven, and Vine, three mysterious young men who call themselves halflings. The three boys vow to Nikki safe while hiding their deepest secret—and the wings that come with. But a growing attraction between Nikki and two of her protectors presents a whole other danger. As the mysteries behind the boys’ powers, as well as her role in a scientist’s dark plan, unfold, Nikki is faced with choices that may affect the earthly and heavenly worlds. In Summer by Summer, Summer took a nanny job in Belize as a fresh start before college, but things take a turn when she finds herself trapped on an island with Bray, a boy she can’t stand. But as their time on the island wears on, the issues that kept them at odds begin to drop away, and both Bray and Summer discover that each may be able to provide the healing they’ve been searching for. And in Doon, book one of the Doon series, Veronica keeps seeing visions of an attractive kilted stranger. When she and her best friend, Kenna, find themselves in Scotland for a summer, what appeared to be a sign she was going crazy becomes an adventure when Veronica and Kenna are zapped across the Alloway Bridge and into a world that appears to be a real-life fairy tale. Veronica soon comes face to face with the boy from her dreams, but the kingdom of Doon holds a dark underbelly that may prevent Veronica’s happily ever after before it can even begin.

Book Mobilities Networks Geographies

Download or read book Mobilities Networks Geographies written by Prof Dr Kay W Axhausen and published by Ashgate Publishing, Ltd.. This book was released on 2012-11-28 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There have been striking increases in both long-distance travel and in communications through mobile phones, text messaging, emailing and videoconferencing. Such developments in communication, along with a similar increase in physical travel and movement of goods around the globe, reconfigure social networks by disconnecting and reconnecting people in new ways. This original book puts forward one of the first social science studies of the geographies of social networks and related mobilities of travel, communications and face-to-face meetings. The book examines five interdependent mobilities that form and reform these geographies of networks and travel in the contemporary world. These are: physical travel of people for work, leisure, pleasure, migration and escape; physical movement of objects delivered to producers, consumers and retailers; imaginative travel elsewhere through images and memories seen on texts, TV, computer screens and film; virtual travel on the internet; and communicative travel through letters, cards, telegrams, telephones, faxes, text messages and videoconferences. In the book the authors examine the interconnections between these different mobilities. They research how travel and social meetings require systems of coordination using virtual and communicative travel in-between physical travel and meetings. They argue that, while it might be imagined that there would be less need of physical meetings with improved technology, on the contrary, scheduled visits and meetings have become highly significant. The research shows that they are necessary to social life in the contemporary world, both within business and, especially, within families and friendships which are increasingly conducted at a distance.
