Book Distributed Fault Detection in Formation of Multi Agent Systems with Attack Impact Analysis

Download or read book Distributed Fault Detection in Formation of Multi Agent Systems with Attack Impact Analysis written by Arefeh Amrollahi Biyooki and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) are capable of performing a variety of deepwater marine applications as in multiple mobile robots and cooperative robot reconnaissance. Due to the environment that AUVs operate in, fault detection and isolation as well as the formation control of AUVs are more challenging than other Multi-Agent Systems (MASs). In this thesis, two main challenges are tackled. We first investigate the formation control and fault accommodation algorithms for AUVs in presence of abnormal events such as faults and communication attacks in any of the team members. These undesirable events can prevent the entire team to achieve a safe, reliable, and efficient performance while executing underwater mission tasks. For instance, AUVs may face unexpected actuator/sensor faults and the communication between AUVs can be compromised, and consequently make the entire multi-agent system vulnerable to cyber-attacks. Moreover, a possible deception attack on network system may have a negative impact on the environment and more importantly the national security. Furthermore, there are certain requirements for speed, position or depth of the AUV team. For this reason, we propose a distributed fault detection scheme that is able to detect and isolate faults in AUVs while maintaining their formation under security constraints. The effects of faults and communication attacks with a control theoretical perspective will be studied. Another contribution of this thesis is to study a state estimation problem for a linear dynamical system in presence of a Bias Injection Attack (BIA). For this purpose, a Kalman Filter (KF) is used, where we show that the impact of an attack can be analyzed as the solution of a quadratically constrained problem for which the exact solution can be found efficiently. We also introduce a lower bound for the attack impact in terms of the number of compromised actuators and a combination of sensors and actuators. The theoretical findings are accompanied by simulation results and numerical can study examples.

Book From Fault Classification to Fault Tolerance for Multi Agent Systems

Download or read book From Fault Classification to Fault Tolerance for Multi Agent Systems written by Katia Potiron and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-21 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Faults are a concern for Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) designers, especially if the MAS are built for industrial or military use because there must be some guarantee of dependability. Some fault classification exists for classical systems, and is used to define faults. When dependability is at stake, such fault classification may be used from the beginning of the system’s conception to define fault classes and specify which types of faults are expected. Thus, one may want to use fault classification for MAS; however, From Fault Classification to Fault Tolerance for Multi-Agent Systems argues that working with autonomous and proactive agents implies a special analysis of the faults potentially occurring in the system. Moreover, the field of Fault Tolerance (FT) provides numerous methods adapted to handle different kinds of faults. Some handling methods have been studied within the MAS domain, adapting to their specificities and capabilities but increasing the large amount of FT methods. Therefore, unless being an expert in fault tolerance, it is difficult to choose, evaluate or compare fault tolerance methods, preventing a lot of developed applications from not only to being more pleasant to use but, more importantly, from at least being tolerant to common faults. From Fault Classification to Fault Tolerance for Multi-Agent Systems shows that specification phase guidelines and fault handler studies can be derived from the fault classification extension made for MAS. From this perspective, fault classification can become a unifying concept between fault tolerance methods in MAS.

Book Distributed High Impedance Fault Detection Using Multi Agent Protection Scheme

Download or read book Distributed High Impedance Fault Detection Using Multi Agent Protection Scheme written by Jit Chatterjee and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) are attracting a lot of attention in research and are among fast-growing technologies implemented to model independent decision-making entities. Unlike conventional centralized control, MAS actualizes decentralized control. In decentralized control, power equipment, for instance, distributed generators, loads, power instruments, etc. are mapped to a unique "agent". These "agents" execute a predefined task to control and monitor the power system instruments and the system as a whole. MAS has attributes making it suitable for deployments in systems with increasing penetration of renewable energy resources, to support smart grid and microgrid model. This research presents automated detection of unbalanced High Impedance Fault (HIF) location and isolation of an open ring bus power system. MAS is used to develop the autonomous structures of the protection scheme. Two-ended negative sequence method along with modified conventional overcurrent-based protection scheme, is implemented in the MAS to distinguish the type and the location of the HIF in the system. This enables the agents to pinpoint the fault location accurately and execute the fault isolation precisely. The MAS protection schemes also take into consideration unreliable communication network of the distributed agents during fault analysis through back-up protection scheme or communicating with upstream agent. The agents also keep a status of the adjacent buses and corresponding line segment when deciding the state of the power system. JAVA Agent Development (JADE) environment is used to implement the MAS protection scheme. To improve system redundancy, a back-up protection scheme is developed in Simulink environment using Clark's transformation based current protection scheme and the phasor sequence phase differential protection scheme. The final decision from the backup system is implemented after comparing binary outputs from the algorithms using Boolean algebra. The backup protection scheme permits the open ring bus system to recognize a fault and isolate the fault in a scenario where MAS fails to operate because of communication failure among agents.

Book Fault Estimation for Network Systems via Intermediate Estimator

Download or read book Fault Estimation for Network Systems via Intermediate Estimator written by Jun-Wei Zhu and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-10-29 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is concerned with the fault estimation problem for network systems. Firstly, to improve the existing adaptive fault estimation observer, a novel so-called intermediate estimator is proposed to identify the actuator or sensor faults in dynamic control systems with high accuracy and convergence speed. On this basis, by exploiting the properties of network systems such as multi-agent systems and large-scale interconnected systems, this book introduces the concept of distributed intermediate estimator; faults in different nodes can be estimated simultaneously; meanwhile, satisfactory consensus performances can be obtained via compensation based protocols. Finally, the characteristics of the new fault estimation methodology are verified and discussed by a series of experimental results on networked multi-axis motion control systems. This book can be used as a reference book for researcher and designer in the field of fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control and can also be used as a reference book for senior undergraduate and graduate students in colleges and universities.

Book Distributed Adaptive Fault tolerant Control of Nonlinear Uncertain Multi agent Systems

Download or read book Distributed Adaptive Fault tolerant Control of Nonlinear Uncertain Multi agent Systems written by Mohsen Khalili and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The research on distributed multi-agent systems has received increasing attention due to its broad applications in numerous areas, such as unmanned ground and aerial vehicles, smart grid, sensor networks, etc. Since such distributed multi-agent systems need to operate reliably at all time, despite the possible occurrence of faulty behaviors in some agents, the development of fault-tolerant control schemes is a crucial step in achieving reliable and safe operations. The objective of this research is to develop a distributed adaptive fault-tolerant control (FTC) scheme for nonlinear uncertain multi-agent systems under intercommunication graphs with asymmetric weights. Under suitable assumptions, the closed-loop system's stability and leader-follower cooperative tracking properties are rigorously established. First, a distributed adaptive fault-tolerant control method for nonlinear uncertain first-order multi-agent systems is developed. Second, this distributed FTC method is extended to nonlinear uncertain second-order multi-agent systems. Next, adaptive-approximation-based FTC algorithms are developed for two cases of high-order multi-agent systems, i.e., with full-state measurement and with only limited output measurement, respectively. Finally, the distributed adaptive fault-tolerant formation tracking algorithms for first-order multi-agent systems are implemented and demonstrated using Wright State's real-time indoor autonomous robots test environment. The experimental formation tracking results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

This book was released on 2013-12-31 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cooperative Control of Multi-Agent Systems extends optimal control and adaptive control design methods to multi-agent systems on communication graphs. It develops Riccati design techniques for general linear dynamics for cooperative state feedback design, cooperative observer design, and cooperative dynamic output feedback design. Both continuous-time and discrete-time dynamical multi-agent systems are treated. Optimal cooperative control is introduced and neural adaptive design techniques for multi-agent nonlinear systems with unknown dynamics, which are rarely treated in literature are developed. Results spanning systems with first-, second- and on up to general high-order nonlinear dynamics are presented. Each control methodology proposed is developed by rigorous proofs. All algorithms are justified by simulation examples. The text is self-contained and will serve as an excellent comprehensive source of information for researchers and graduate students working with multi-agent systems.

Book An Introduction to MultiAgent Systems

Download or read book An Introduction to MultiAgent Systems written by Michael Wooldridge and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-06-22 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of multi-agent systems (MAS) focuses on systems in which many intelligent agents interact with each other. These agents are considered to be autonomous entities such as software programs or robots. Their interactions can either be cooperative (for example as in an ant colony) or selfish (as in a free market economy). This book assumes only basic knowledge of algorithms and discrete maths, both of which are taught as standard in the first or second year of computer science degree programmes. A basic knowledge of artificial intelligence would useful to help understand some of the issues, but is not essential. The book’s main aims are: To introduce the student to the concept of agents and multi-agent systems, and the main applications for which they are appropriate To introduce the main issues surrounding the design of intelligent agents To introduce the main issues surrounding the design of a multi-agent society To introduce a number of typical applications for agent technology After reading the book the student should understand: The notion of an agent, how agents are distinct from other software paradigms (e.g. objects) and the characteristics of applications that lend themselves to agent-oriented software The key issues associated with constructing agents capable of intelligent autonomous action and the main approaches taken to developing such agents The key issues in designing societies of agents that can effectively cooperate in order to solve problems, including an understanding of the key types of multi-agent interactions possible in such systems The main application areas of agent-based systems
