Book Discernment of Revelation in the Gospel of Matthew

Download or read book Discernment of Revelation in the Gospel of Matthew written by Frances Shaw and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2007 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the biblical tradition revelation from God is frequently mediated through certain gifted individuals. Disclosure and hiddenness are both integral to revelation and this study explores how Matthew presents Jesus as a true discerner of revelation and how he seeks to persuade his readers to accept the truth of his claim. Discernment of revelation is a significant motif running through Matthew's Gospel, relating closely to other aspects of his theological dynamic. This is explored by examining the background in the Old Testament and early Jewish literature, model discernment (Jesus), fragile discernment (Peter) and failed discernment (opponents). A general composition critical approach is taken, although insights from literary criticism are also used, especially to explore literary devices familiar in the apocalyptic and wisdom traditions which Matthew uses as persuasive tools.

Book excerpt: “I want to do more than hear a word from God. I want to become that word. That is revelation’s ultimate purpose—for the Word to become flesh.” —James GollWhat is “prophetic revelation” from God? And what is the believer’s role in receiving and activating it? James Goll, author of the best seller The Seer, explains that although some believers are especially gifted as prophets, every follower of Jesus receives the gifts of revelation and discernment. And every believer needs to use them! In fact, without discernment and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, we cannot progress in our use of any of the gifts and callings. With clear explanations, scriptural illustrations, and real-life contemporary stories, Goll demonstrates how we can receive revelation through the natural senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste—and how to open ourselves up to the comparable supernatural senses through which God wants to speak. He also removes uncertainty about how to discern revelation and test the spirits, so that every believer can fulfill their ultimate purpose: extending Jesus’ powerful kingdom on earth. The Discerner is both a wonderful introduction to the prophetic lifestyle and a challenging call for those already immersed in prophetic revelation.

Book The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment Foreword by John MacArthur

Download or read book The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment Foreword by John MacArthur written by Tim Challies and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2007-12-19 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spiritual discernment is good for more than just making monumental decisions according to God's will. It is an essential, day-to-day activity that allows thoughtful Christians to separate the truth of God from error and to distinguish right from wrong in all kinds of settings and situations. It is also a skill-something that any person can develop and improve, especially with the guidance in this book. Written by a leading evangelical blogger, The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment is an uplifting, scripturally grounded work that explains the need for discernment, its challenges, and the steps that will cultivate it. Author Tim Challies does not do the discerning for readers; he simply shows them how to practically apply scriptural tools, principles, and wisdom so that their conclusions about everything-people, teachings, decisions, media, and organizations-will be consistent with God's Word.

Book Fresh Revelation on the Gospel of Matthew

Download or read book Fresh Revelation on the Gospel of Matthew written by Joshua Anquandah and published by . This book was released on 2016-05-08 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A true living relationship with your Father through Jesus Christ means you are always receiving fresh revelation on a day to day basis. The fresh revelation could be anything such as a cool invention, prophecies, healings, miracles, books and access to glory living. This book is one of such. For believers I am living the Jesus life and so you can too for real. I travelled across the United States from Pennsylvania all the way to Hawaii with very little money depending entirely on God. My life has been changed living the gospel daily throughout the entire journey and connecting with sold out believers. Father God put it on our hearts to bring you this fresh revelation on the Gospel according to Matthew. Everybody can learn from this fresh revelation. This is because I want unbelievers and atheists to be become sons and daughters of God. Also, for believers to be sharpened, reach out to the lost orphans and live the glory lifestyle. What you read on in this book might not be what you grew up hearing. Stay open to the Holy Spirit, God manifests in different ways. How the Father does this, could be mysterious. He does this because He created us all differently, so He speaks to all of us differently. I want you to be free to live as He created you to be. He loves you. He created you to be loved. True life and identity is only found in Jesus. Jesus is love. Jesus is life too. When you become a new creation, you become love. Love is your true identity. You can only become Love when you have Jesus. When you have Jesus inside of you, you become love. The only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ. It sounds too good to be true but that's why it is true. Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross for you to become freedom, love, joy, intimacy, wealth, healing, miracles and signs and wonders. This is all for you to be as you were truly created to be. Receiving the Holy Spirit lets you do greater miracles than Jesus. The Holy Spirit is the one who will teach you all things, comfort you always, and give you fresh revelation. When you receive all this it does not mean it is for keeps but for you to share and free everybody up to become perfect love and live as the presence of God 24/7. You must let the glory out. God is a big kid who celebrates and enjoys the moment. Laugh because in the presence of God there is fullness of joy. Take note that this is simply called fresh revelation. Look at it this way, the Bible came about directly from God breathed into men and so they put it out. In the same way, I have gotten revelation on Matthew for today so check it out. This is pure truth, love and life. Therefore, this is not another Matthew, this is not another Bible, this is not another New Testament, this is not illumination, and this is not heresy either. Just open your heart and mind to what our Savior is doing in our times. A true pure living relationship with your Father through Jesus brings constant revelation. However, a dead relationship has nothing fresh daily. Send feedback on www.freshrevi.com. The fun has just began keep on reading. It is an election year let us say a prayer for Ghana and USA.

Book What Is God Like

Download or read book What Is God Like written by Rachel Held Evans and published by Convergent Books. This book was released on 2021-06-15 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The late, beloved Rachel Held Evans answers many children's first question about God in this gorgeous picture book, fully realized by her friend Matthew Paul Turner, the bestselling author of When God Made You. Children who are introduced to God, through attending church or having loved ones who speak about God, often have a lot of questions, including this ever-popular one: What is God like? The late Rachel Held Evans loved the Bible and loved showing God’s love through the words and pictures found in that ancient text. Through these pictures from the Bible, children see that God is like a shepherd, God is like a star, God is like a gardener, God is like the wind, and more. God is a comforter and support. And whenever a child is unsure, What Is God Like? encourages young hearts to “think about what makes you feel safe, what makes you feel loved, and what makes you feel brave. That's what God is like.”

Book Rapture

  • Pages : 513 pages

Download or read book Rapture written by David Currie and published by Sophia Institute Press. This book was released on 2003-07-31 with total page 513 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The end-times error that leaves the Bible behind! Author David Currie grew up convinced that one day all true Christians will suddenly be snatched up to heaven. The unfortunate souls left behind by this "rapture" will endure seven horrible years of tribulation, at the end of which Christ will return to earth for a glorious thousand-year reign. Today, millions of Christians accept this end-times theology, assuming - as Currie did -- that the Bible clearly teaches it. Many plan their whole lives around it. But, after studying Scripture for decades, Currie has come to see that if you accept the Bible, you have to reject the rapture. In these remarkable pages - which constitute the world's most careful and thorough scriptural study of the rapture - Currie demonstrates why. He considers all the relevant verses (and there are hundreds!) and examines them in the light of ancient history, the writings of the earliest Christians, and the claims of rapturist theologians. With painstaking thoroughness, he unlocks the meanings of the key biblical prophecies that culminate in Christ's Messianic Kingdom - including those verses in Daniel, Matthew, and Revelation that rapturists turn to most. Marshalling evidence that's as startling as it is compelling, Currie argues that these prophecies of war and tribulation don't point to some still-unrealized apocalyptic future. Rather, most of them were fulfilled long ago: the spiritual, priestly Kingdom prefigured in the Old Testament was inaugurated on Calvary, consummated in 70 A.D. with the destruction of the Temple, and continues to exist today . . . in the Catholic Church! That may surprise you. Yet, shows Currie, it's the only conclusion that fits all the scriptural and historical evidence. Rapture: The End-Times Error That Leaves the Bible Behind makes Scripture, prophecy, and history come alive; and it demonstrates that if you open your Bible, you'll find that God's plan for the future of the world is not filled with darkness and disaster, but with light, mercy, and hope. "We can all learn much from David Currie, not only from what he says, which is wise, but from how he says it, which is Catholic and Christian." From the Foreword by Scott Hahn. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Matthew was a Hebrew, whose calling in life was that of a tax-gatherer under the Roman government. His writing evidences his acquaintance with the Hebrew Scriptures, and especially with those which foretold the coming of the Messiah King. Thus, both in his religious thinking and in the prosecution of his daily calling he was familiar with the idea of government." --From Matthew: Jesus Christ the King "The only satisfactory introduction to the book of Revelation is found in the text thereof, which deals with authorship, nature, origin, method, and intention. Its earliest phrase constitutes its title, and indicates its content. It is the 'unveiling of Jesus Christ.' Our analysis is based upon the supposition that the key to the interpretation of the book is found in the final charge of Jesus to John, 'Write therefore the things which thou sawest, and the things which are, and the things which shall come to pass after these.'" --From Revelation: The Unveiling of Jesus Christ

  • Pages : 296 pages

Download or read book The Gospel of Matthew written by Patty Binns Farinola and published by . This book was released on 2020-05-06 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the existence of over two billion Christians throughout the world, there is much reverence for the Holy Bible, especially the four canonical gospels of the New Testament. There are standard interpretations many are familiar with. However, for those seeking greater meaning and deeper understanding, there are few, if any, sources of spiritual or esoteric interpretation in the public domain. This book is the first in a series meant to address that. The esoteric interpretation applied herein takes the literal into account and also perceives the deeper symbology within the texts which give them much more meaning. This provides the ability to go beyond an intellectual understanding of God and God's messages, and when interpreted this way, the Gospels contain important lessons that are especially relevant to our lives today. What makes this book unique is the application of the Tree of Life to the meaning and messages of the Gospel of Matthew. Trees are mentioned throughout the Bible, from the first chapter in Genesis to the last chapter in Revelation. That is how important this image is. The Tree of Life is a powerful archetype, brought forward through the ages, that is a symbolic representation of consciousness. Using the Tree to interpret the Gospel of Matthew, this book is about consciousness, and the ways in which we can rise to a whole new level of awareness.

Book The Dispensational Study Bible

Download or read book The Dispensational Study Bible written by Jim Phillips and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2023-06-05 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Dispensational Study Bible Matthew - Revelation is a combination of the previous three volume series into one book for those who prefer keeping them together as a whole section which is more commonly referred to as the New Testament. All scriptures quoted are from the 1611 King James Bible. The DSB uses the method of Bible Study called rightly dividing the word of truth found in 2nd Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Saul of Tarsus later became Paul, the apostle of the Gentiles after his salvation on the road to Damascus in Acts 9 when the dispensation of grace was given to the apostle Paul to dispense to the body of Christ today: Ephesians 3:2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: Colossians 1:25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; Today we are to be preaching Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery that was given to the apostle Paul, but sadly, that mystery is still a mystery to most of the body of Christ. That mystery had been kept hid in God until it was revealed to the apostle of the Gentiles to give to us. Romans 11:13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office: Romans 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, The revelation of the mystery is God revealing to man his manifold wisdom about his plan for the body of Christ in this current dispensation of grace and how it differs from His prophecy program which was made known to the prophets since the world began. Ephesians 3:8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; 9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: 10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, I would ask one thing of those who read this study bible that they actually read it beginning from page 1 and going all the way through it before they make up their mind about it. Taking a verse out of its context is an easy way to lead people astray and make the bible say whatever you want it to say, but reading it in its context will help you to see the dispensational differences as they occur. There are those, and they are many, who are diametrically opposed to the dispensational method of Bible study, largely because translators have taken the word "Dispensation" out of their bibles so they don't even know it is a biblical word. The word dispensation means an economy, a dispensing of truth at one point in time that is different and even contradictory to information dispensed at another time to another group of people. For Example: We today who are believers in Jesus' death, burial and resurrection are a part of the body of Christ. We are not Israel under the law of Moses. We are the body of Christ under grace. Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. 15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. A failure to rightly divide the word of truth today has produced all the thousands of denominations that exist today all claiming they are spiritual Israel, They are not. We are a separate and distinct entity. In closing, I would love to thank my wonderful wife Suzanne for all her support over these years enabling me to be able to do what I do. I truly love you.
