Book Life System Modeling and Intelligent Computing

Download or read book Life System Modeling and Intelligent Computing written by Kang Li and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-09-14 with total page 736 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 2010 International Conference on Life System Modeling and Simulation (LSMS 2010) and the 2010 International Conference on Intelligent Computing for Sustainable Energy and Environment (ICSEE 2010) were formed to bring together researchers and practitioners in the fields of life system modeling/simulation and intelligent computing applied to worldwide sustainable energy and environmental applications. A life system is a broad concept, covering both micro and macro components ra- ing from cells, tissues and organs across to organisms and ecological niches. To c- prehend and predict the complex behavior of even a simple life system can be - tremely difficult using conventional approaches. To meet this challenge, a variety of new theories and methodologies have emerged in recent years on life system modeling and simulation. Along with improved understanding of the behavior of biological systems, novel intelligent computing paradigms and techniques have emerged to h- dle complicated real-world problems and applications. In particular, intelligent c- puting approaches have been valuable in the design and development of systems and facilities for achieving sustainable energy and a sustainable environment, the two most challenging issues currently facing humanity. The two LSMS 2010 and ICSEE 2010 conferences served as an important platform for synergizing these two research streams.

Book Control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

Download or read book Control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors written by Sadegh Vaez-Zadeh and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2018-02-23 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Permanent magnet synchronous (PMS) motors stand at the forefront of electric motor development due to their energy saving capabilities and performance potential. The motors have been developed in response to mounting environmental crises and growing electricity prices, and they have enabled the emergence of motor drive applications like those found in electric and hybrid vehicles, fly by wire, and drones. Control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors is a timely advancement along that path as the first comprehensive, self-contained, and thoroughly up-to-date book devoted solely to the control of PMS motors. It offers a deep and extended analysis, design, implementation, and performance evaluation of major motor control methods, including Vector, Direct Torque, Predictive, Deadbeat, and Combined Control, in a systematic and coherent manner. All major Sensorless Control and Parameter Estimation methods are also studied. The book places great emphasis on energy saving control schemes.

Book Direct Torque Control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors with Non sinusoidal Back EMF

Download or read book Direct Torque Control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors with Non sinusoidal Back EMF written by Salih Baris Ozturk and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work presents the direct torque control (DTC) techniques, implemented in four- and six-switch inverter, for brushless dc (BLDC) motors with non-sinusoidal back- EMF using two and three-phase conduction modes. First of all, the classical direct torque control of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) with sinusoidal back-EMF is discussed in detail. Secondly, the proposed two-phase conduction mode for DTC of BLDC motors is introduced in the constant torque region. In this control scheme, only two phases conduct at any instant of time using a six-switch inverter. By properly selecting the inverter voltage space vectors of the two-phase conduction mode from a simple look-up table the desired quasi-square wave current is obtained. Therefore, it is possible to achieve DTC of a BLDC motor drive with faster torque response while the stator flux linkage amplitude is deliberately kept almost constant by ignoring the flux control in the constant torque region. Third, the avarege current controlled boost power factor correction (PFC) method is applied to the previously discussed proposed DTC of BLDC motor drive in the constant torque region. The test results verify that the proposed PFC for DTC of BLDC motor drive improves the power factor from 0.77 to about 0.9997 irrespective of the load. Fourth, the DTC technique for BLDC motor using four-switch inverter in the constant torque region is studied. For effective torque control in two phase conduction mode, a novel switching pattern incorporating the voltage vector look-up table is designed and implemented for four-switch inverter to produce the desired torque characteristics. As a result, it is possible to achieve two-phase conduction DTC of a BLDC motor drive using four-switch inverter with faster torque response due to the fact that the voltage space vectors are directly controlled. Finally, the position sensorless direct torque and indirect flux control (DTIFC) of BLDC motor with non-sinusoidal back-EMF has been extensively investigated using three-phase conduction scheme with six-switch inverter. In this work, a novel and simple approach to achieve a low-frequency torque ripple-free direct torque control with maximum efficiency based on dq reference frame similar to permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives is presented.

Download or read book Direct Torque Control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines with Applications to Motor Drives and Wind Energy Conversion Systems written by Zhe Zhang and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this work, the root causes of ripple production in the PMSM systems controlled by digital DTC schemes are explicitly analyzed and demonstrated. Based on the analysis, three improved DTC schemes are developed to effectively reduce the torque, flux and current ripple levels afflicting the conventional DTC. The improvement strategies in the proposed DTC schemes are generally classified into two categories. First, the space vector modulation (SVM) is integrated into DTC using fewer machine parameters and no proportional-integral (PI) regulators. Second, the hysteresis controller in conventional DTC is modified to develop new switching-table-based DTC following the idea of the conventional DTC. All of the proposed DTC schemes can effectively solve the problems associated with the conventional DTC, i.e., the large ripple levels and high-demand hardware, and provide viable and cost-effective solutions for various industrial PMSM-based applications. The inherent properties of the conventional DTC, such as fast dynamic response, no PI and current regulators, and no coordinate transformations are well preserved.
