Book Diffraction by a Tipped Wedge

Download or read book Diffraction by a Tipped Wedge written by Sam Karp and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-07 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Diffraction by a Tipped Wedge: With Applications to Blunt Edges The problem of the diffraction of electromagnetic waves by a cylindrically tipped perfectly conducting wedge under plane wave or line source excitation is treated. Mathematically, this reduces to the problem of finding a solution of the two-dimensional time-reduced wave equation which either vanishes or has a vanishing normal derivative on the surface of the tipped wedge depending upon whether the electric vector or the mag netic vector is normal to the plane of incidence. Series representations of the solutions are obtained in all cases in terms of the eigenfunctions of the Simple wedge problem (where the radius of the cylindrical tip is zero). The far field expressions for the case of the cylindrically tipped wedge under plane wave excitation are obtained for both polarizations. Graphs of the net scattered amplitude are given for the special case of normal incidence on a half-plane with a cylindrical tip of radius a a k-l. Book Diffraction by an Immersed Elastic Wedge

Download or read book Diffraction by an Immersed Elastic Wedge written by Jean-Pierre Croisille and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-15 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph presents the mathematical description and numerical computation of the high-frequency diffracted wave by an immersed elastic wave with normal incidence. The mathematical analysis is based on the explicit description of the principal symbol of the pseudo-differential operator connected with the coupled linear problem elasticity/fluid by the wedge interface. This description is subsequently used to derive an accurate numerical computation of diffraction diagrams for different incoming waves in the fluid, and for different wedge angles. The method can be applied to any problem of coupled waves by a wedge interface. This work is of interest for any researcher concerned with high frequency wave scattering, especially mathematicians, acousticians, engineers.

Book DIFFRACTION BY A REFRACTING WEDGE

Download or read book DIFFRACTION BY A REFRACTING WEDGE written by MICHAEL. PAPADOPOULOS and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The refraction and scattering of acoustic plane waves following their arrival at the tip of a refracting wedge are examined. The scattered field contains not only plane waves reflected from the plane walls of the prisms but also the field diffracted at the sharp edge. It is not necessary to discuss the dominant refraction effects in any detail because they are so wellknown. The diffraction properties however, are quite unknown. To understand these properties it is necessary to consider the mathematical difficulty of defining a normal derivative on the inside of an acute-angled wedge close to the vertex. It ay be that the uniform use of the interaction conditions across the refracting surfaces at all distances from the vertex leads to no solution, and that the only well-set problem of this type may be one where the wedge has a rounded tip (as when the wedge is of hyperbolic section) with large curvature. The nature of the local field near the edge of a dielectric wedge has, in fact, been examined by taking the local expansion of the field in power series involving distance from the wedge it is not necessarily good for anything more than the electrostatic situation. Book Scattering and Diffraction by Wedges 2

Download or read book Scattering and Diffraction by Wedges 2 written by Vito G. Daniele and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-10-29 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book has a dual purpose. The first is to expose a general methodology to solve problems of electromagnetism in geometries constituted of angular regions. The second is to bring the solutions of some canonical problems of fundamental importance in modern electromagnetic engineering with the use of the Wiener-Hopf technique. In particular, the general mathematical methodology is very ingenious and original. It is based on sophisticated and attractive procedures exploiting simple and advanced properties of analytical functions. Once the reader has acquired the methodology, she/he can easily obtain the solution of the canonical problems reported in the book. The book can be appealing also to readers who are not directly interested in the detailed mathematical methodology and/ or in electromagnetics. In fact the same methodology can be extended to acoustics and elasticity problems. Moreover, the proposed practical problems with their solutions constitute a list of reference solutions and can be of interests in engineering production in the field of radio propagations, electromagnetic compatibility and radar technologies.
