Book Dio e la legge naturale Una rilettura di Tommaso d Aquino

Download or read book Dio e la legge naturale Una rilettura di Tommaso d Aquino written by Fulvio Di Blasi and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Se c'è un Dio e noi siamo le sue creature, ovviamente queste verità devono influenzare la nostra comprensione di ciò che dobbiamo e non dobbiamo fare. Qualsiasi teoria adeguata dei giudizi morali fondamentali dovrebbe riconoscere Dio come l'autore della legge morale. Fulvio di Blasi ha scritto un libro che mostra il carattere inevitabilmente teistico di qualsiasi resoconto adeguato della legge naturale. Lo leggerete con profitto. "Di Blasi dimostra l'inintelligibilità di qualsiasi etica che non abbia una dipendenza esplicita da Dio come sua fonte ultima o che non riesca ad ancorare la nostra conoscenza morale nella natura umana" Joseph W. Koterski, Fordham University, Theological Studies "[L'analisi di Di Blasi è] Diretta ed immediata: perché appare sempre più difficile, per la nostra mentalità, riuscire a pensare fino in fondo, senza filtri storici e concettuali, l'idea, semplice e radicale, che la legge naturale non sia altro che l'incontro dell'uomo con Dio. La legge naturale è il modo in cui ci scopriamo parte del progetto della creazione." Salvatore Amato, Università di Catania, Rivista Internazionale di Filosofia del Diritto "Dio e la legge naturale di Fulvio Di Blasi è un'indagine penetrante sul fondamento teologico del diritto naturale tomista... The argument of the book... is well worth the effort for any serious student of Thomistic natural law." John Goyette, Thomas Aquinas College, The Thomist "I "nuovi" studiosi di Tommaso sono spesso brillanti... Di Blasi fa senz'altro parte di questa nuova generazione... Il bel libro di Di Blasi, mentre porta in Italia l'eco della rinascenza anglosassone degli studi tomistici, invita a una riflessione senza compromessi, e a suo modo spregiudicata, sul pensiero di un autore che non può più essere appiattito su alcuna manualistica vulgata, sia per il dibattito acceso che è in corso sulla sua opera, sia per le implicazioni normative che gli esiti di questa stessa rinascenza possono comportare. Anche chi non condivide, e anzi osteggi, tali esiti, finisce spesso per sentire il fascino della sintesi tomistica e del dibattito specialistico che continua a suscitare." Gianfrancesco Zanetti, Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia, Rivista Filosofia Politica "Di Blasi premette alla propria interpretazione della spiegazione della legge naturale di Tommaso d'Aquino una critica estesa dell'interpretazione neoclassica... La critica che ne risulta è illuminante e persuasiva... Gli editori [inglesi] vanno ringraziati per aver introdotto l'opera di un percettivo e originale pensatore a un pubblico di lingua inglese" Jean Porter, University of Notre Dame, The Journal of Religion "Dio e la legge naturale è l'opera impressionante di un giovane studioso, che naviga tra le correnti vorticose del moderno dibattito sul significato della legge naturale." Matthew J. Peterson, The Claremont Institute "[Di Blasi] ritiene, per quanto ciò sia delicato sul piano filosofico, che l'ordine della natura debba essere riconosciuto come voluto da Dio. Quest'ultima affermazione richiama una dimensione che la filosofia guarda già con sospetto, giudicandola troppo teologica. Con efficacia l'Autore la fa emergere, quasi in sovrimpressione, da una semplice fenomenologia dell'esperienza morale comune [...] al di là della lettura trascendentale dei neoclassici e di quella metodologicamente atea di alcuni interpreti contemporanei, Di Blasi afferma, con Tommaso, che se l'etica può essere indipendente dal problema di Dio non può esserlo però dalla sua realtà." Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vi è una legge vera, ragione retta conforme alla natura, presente in tutti, invariabile, eterna, tale da richiamare con i suoi comandi al dovere, e da distogliere con i suoi divieti dall'agire male... A questa legge non è possibile si tolga valore né è lecito che in qualcosa si deroghi, né essa può essere abrogata; da questa legge non possiamo essere sciolti ad opera del senato o del popolo... Essa non è diversa a Roma o ad Atene, non è diversa ora o in futuro: tutti i popoli invece in ogni tempo saranno retti da quest'unica legge eterna e immutabile; ed unico comune maestro, per così dire e sovrano di tutti sarà Dio; di questa legge egli solo è l'autore, l'interprete, il legislatore;

Book excerpt: On Tyranny is Leo Strauss’s classic reading of Xenophon’s dialogue Hiero, or Tyrannicus, in which the tyrant Hiero and the poet Simonides discuss the advantages and disadvantages of exercising tyranny. Included are a translation of the dialogue from its original Greek, a critique of Strauss’s commentary by the French philosopher Alexandre Kojève, and the complete correspondence between the two. This revised and expanded edition introduces important corrections throughout and expands Strauss’s restatement of his position in light of Kojève’s commentary to bring it into conformity with the text as it was originally published in France.

Book Using Italian

Download or read book Using Italian written by J. J. Kinder and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2004-07 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 2002 book is a guide to Italian usage for students who have already acquired the basics of the language and wish to extend their knowledge. Unlike conventional grammars, it gives special attention to those areas of vocabulary and grammar which cause most difficulty to English-speakers. Careful consideration is given throughout to questions of style, register, and politeness which are essential to achieving an appropriate level of formality or informality in writing and speech. It surveys the contemporary linguistic scene in Italy and gives ample space to the new varieties of Italian that are emerging in modern Italy. The influence of the dialects in shaping the development of Italian is also acknowledged. Clear, readable and easy to consult via its two indexes, this is an essential reference for learners seeking access to the finer nuances of the Italian language.

Download or read book The Imagined Immigrant written by Ilaria Serra and published by Fairleigh Dickinson Univ Press. This book was released on 2009 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using original sources--such as newspaper articles, silent movies, letters, autobiographies, and interviews--Ilaria Serra depicts a large tapestry of images that accompanied mass Italian migration to the U.S. at the turn of the twentieth century. She chooses to translate the Italian concept of immaginario with the Latin imago that felicitously blends the double English translation of the word as "imagery" and "imaginary." Imago is a complex knot of collective representations of the immigrant subject, a mental production that finds concrete expression; impalpable, yet real. The "imagined immigrant" walks alongside the real one in flesh and rags.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: XIV The stability of a philosophical construction will depend not only upon the solidity of the blocks, of the pillars and architraves that make it up, but also upon the way in which all these parts are connected. Of course, it will not be possible to argue for every single part of a philosophical building: to do so would mean to embark in a virtually endless enterprise. Accordingly, some of the parts of a philosophical building will have to be taken from the literature on the subject as 'ready made' or 'semi-finished' elements, while others will be argued for in the course of building. This is what happened in my work too. In some cases (for in stance, in the case of epistemic relativism), my concern was to illustrate theses which I believed to be sufficiently consolidated, rather than to ar gue for them. In other cases - where I was directly engaged in building the theory that I want to fonnulate - I did exactly the opposite. This is what I have tried to achieve, for example, for those proper architraves of my construction, viz. the connection between scepticism and metaphysi cal realism. and the thesis of the nonnative value of the fundamental epistemological notions (truth, objectivity, and rationality).
