Book Danske Rederier Danish Shipping Companies volume 21

Download or read book Danske Rederier Danish Shipping Companies volume 21 written by Bent Mikkelsen and published by . This book was released on with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Gender in Nordic Blue Economies

Download or read book Gender in Nordic Blue Economies written by Svels, Kristina and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2022-12-05 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Available online: https://pub.norden.org/temanord2022-561/ The Sisters in the Arctic Blue (SAB) network aims in their first report, the Gender in Nordic Blue Economies: initial networking results and future academic research, to develop gender dimensions for Nordic Blue Economies. The SAB report shows that there is a clear need for Nordic countries to focus on gender issues in Blue Economy agendas, especially beyond a traditional focus on fisheries. There are opportunities to learn from individual country contexts where gender research has been more rich and active, e.g., Norway and Iceland, and a pressing lack to strengthen gender research in e.g., Sweden, Finland, and Denmark. Consequently, since the Blue Economy highlights the great potential of an ocean economy that boosts employment, gender research in blue sectors needs to be increased and receive sustained support to ensure inclusiveness and equality across Nordic and Arctic regions.

Book excerpt: The world evolves. Billions are subjugated by the elite few, who cannot be legally deposed. As the planet rolls onwards to its nemesis, two groups will remain for the denouement, the elite few, and the assassins they contracted with, and in the end, only the assassins. Stephen Parry, cold, remorseless Cumbrian, and Michael O’Leary, charismatic, literate Irishman, are professional assassins. Publicly denied, their profession is an essential component of world politics. Assassinations, commissioned by quietly spoken people in suits, are carried out with cool efficient detachment. This changes however, when the assassins confront an apocalyptic horror, casually undertaken by the elite, which dramatically polarises their previous political disinterest. The consequences are world shattering.

Book The Oxford Handbook of Contextual Approaches to Human Resource Management

Download or read book The Oxford Handbook of Contextual Approaches to Human Resource Management written by Dr. Emma Parry and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2021-05-25 with total page 752 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years scholars and practitioners have increasingly recognized that human resource management (HRM) has paid insufficient attention to the impact of context. While research has been devoted to examining the impact of national context on HRM systems, this literature has been largely separate from that focused on other levels of context affecting organizational choices in HRM strategies, such as the impact of the organizational environment, industry sector, occupation or workforce characteristics. In addition, research has tended to consider elements of context in isolation rather than considering its impact at different levels. The goal of The Oxford Handbook of Contextual Approaches to Human Resource Management is to provide a more holistic approach to developing a contextual understanding of HRM. This Handbook offers a comprehensive understanding of the influence of contextual characteristics on the design and implementation of HRM systems. Rather than focusing on a single level or approach to examining context, the Handbook provides both conceptual and empirical analyses of different elements of context using a range of different lenses and measures. In order to explore the influence of contextual factors at multiple levels, the volume assembles a range of detailed accounts of how context affects the design, implementation and impact of HRM activities.

Book Europe Small Navies and Maritime Security

Download or read book Europe Small Navies and Maritime Security written by Robert McCabe and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-09-16 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book seeks to identify and address gaps in our understanding of maritime security and the role of small navies in Europe. The majority of Europe’s navies are small, yet they are often called upon to address a complex array of traditional and non-traditional threats. This volume examines the role of small navies within the European security architecture, by discussing areas of commonality and difference between navies, and arguing that it is not possible to fully understand either maritime strategy or European security without taking into account the actions of small navies. It contains a number of case studies that provide an opportunity to explore how different European states view the current security environment and how naval policy has undergone significant changes within the lifetime of the existing naval assets. In addition, the book examines how maritime security and naval development in Europe might evolve, given that economic forecasts will likely limit the potential procurement of ‘larger’ naval assets in the future, which means that European states will increasingly have to do more with less in the maritime domain. This book will be of much interest to students of maritime strategy, naval power, strategic studies, European politics and international relations in general.

Book Mapping European Corporations

Download or read book Mapping European Corporations written by Andrea Colli and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-09-13 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses the evolution of the strategies, structures, ownership patterns and performances of large European corporations since the early 1960s. The authors study large and small countries, in order to understand how the process of economic integration has affected the patterns of growth and the structural characteristics of the largest firms. Drawing both on extensive databases and on case studies, the contributions in this volume address the peculiar specificities of large firms in different national contexts, adopting a longitudinal, long term perspective. This volume delivers the first results of an international, collective research effort undertaken by several national teams. The 'Mapping Corporate Europe' project aims to provide a detailed account of the structural traits of the European Corporation in a framework which includes (i) a chronological analysis over 50 years, starting with the Rome treaty in 1957; (ii) geographical extension beyond previous analyses for France, Germany and the UK, by including smaller countries; (iii) firms from other industries in addition to manufacturing companies; and (iv) attention to internationalisation of European firms. These analyses form the basis of a rich description of the developments of large European corporations over the past five decades, using both qualitative and quantitative approaches. This book was originally published as a special issue of Business History.
