Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rajasthan is a vivid land of colour and spice, Maharajahs and gods. But the vibrant city of Udaipur is not the peaceful Hindu refuge it once was, and as India races towards modernity its youth faces a cultural identity crisis. When young Raj hits a cow with his motorcycle, little does he know that he has started a chain reaction that will obliterate his close-knit group of friends. Mariam is a Muslim artist forbidden to paint Hindu deities. Her paramour Shiv aches to be a politician in a city ruled by gangland overlords. And lovelorn Vansh finds himself sucked into a mystical vortex from which his mind may not recover. Set against the sweeping grandeur of Rajasthani history, Cycles of Udaipur spins on the axle of tradition and progress: a tangled web of hope, faith and enduring passion that epitomises a new India heretofore unknown to the West.

Book India s Nuclear Fuel Cycle

Download or read book India s Nuclear Fuel Cycle written by Taraknath V.K. Woddi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-06-01 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analysis of the current (February 2009) status and future potential of India's nuclear fuel cycle is presented in this book. Such a fuel cycle assessment is important, but relatively opaque because India regards various aspects of its nuclear fuel cycle as strategically sensitive. Any study therefore necessarily depends upon reverse calculations based on the information that is available, expert assessments, engineering judgment and anecdotal information. In this work every effort is made to provide transparency to these foundations, so that changes can be made in light of alternative expectations or subsequent information. This book should be of interest to policy experts, governmental specialists, technologists, nuclear technologists, and others seeking to understand and explain the associated facts and potential consequences of the recent U.S.-India civil nuclear accord. Table of Contents: Introduction / A Brief History of the Indian Nuclear Program / Indian Nuclear Facilities / Fuel Cycle Analysis: From Beginning to Present Day / Fuel Cycle Analysis: Future Projections / Alternate Reactor Systems / Conclusions / Acknowledgements

Book The Solar Activity Cycle

Download or read book The Solar Activity Cycle written by André Balogh and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-04-16 with total page 594 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A collection of papers edited by four experts in the field, this book sets out to describe the way solar activity is manifested in observations of the solar interior, the photosphere, the chromosphere, the corona and the heliosphere. The 11-year solar activity cycle, more generally known as the sunspot cycle, is a fundamental property of the Sun. This phenomenon is the generation and evolution of magnetic fields in the Sun’s convection zone, the photosphere. It is only by the careful enumeration and description of the phenomena and their variations that one can clarify their interdependences. The sunspot cycle has been tracked back about four centuries, and it has been recognized that to make this data set a really useful tool in understanding how the activity cycle works and how it can be predicted, a very careful and detailed effort is needed to generate sunspot numbers. This book deals with this topic, together with several others that present related phenomena that all indicate the physical processes that take place in the Sun and its exterior environment. The reviews in the book also present the latest theoretical and modelling studies that attempt to explain the activity cycle. It remains true, as has been shown in the unexpected characteristics of the first two solar cycles in the 21st century, that predictability remains a serious challenge. Nevertheless, the highly expert and detailed reviews in this book, using the very best solar observations from both ground- and space based telescopes, provide the best possible report on what is known and what is yet to be discovered. Originally published in Space Science Reviews, Vol 186, Issues 1-4, 2014.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rajasthan is a land of extremes and the present book indicates the great variety in relief, climate, soil, vegetation, agricultural activity and mineral deposits. Rajasthan is endowed with diversified natural resources. The survival of mankind has always been supported by nature and its resources for centuries man has been exploiting these resources for his survival and development. In the rapid march of progress, the balance that needs to be maintained between exploitation and regeneration was however largely ignored. With the increase in population there has thus been great pressure on these resources leading to their scarcity and degradation. Proper Planning for management of growth is possible only when relevant information of resource, population, availability of social and industrial infrastructure and the trends in growth are known. The aim of the books is comprehension and understanding through functional co-relation Detailed in information is furnished for the purpose of illustrating a point and general functional relationship. The Subject has been treated in its regional aspects and an attempt has been made to preserve a balance between the physical, human and economic aspects in this book. In a book dealing with a state such as Rajasthan where agriculture, animal husbandry and mining industry are of a paramount importance, it is natural that much space has been devoted to these aspects of economic geography. This book provides updated information regarding land, people available resources and infrastructural facilities mainly through maps, graphs, charts and tables. I hope the book will be very useful for planner s researchers, teachers, Students, NGO and all those interested in developmental activities.

Book Remote Sensing and GIS GPS Based Resource Management

Download or read book Remote Sensing and GIS GPS Based Resource Management written by T.S. Chouhan and published by Scientific Publishers. This book was released on 2017-01-01 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Remote sensing and Geographical Information System (GIS) offers an abundant opportunity to monitor and manage natural resources at multi-temporal, multi-spectral and multi-spatial resolution. This system is based on new tools and sources of information provided by modern technologies. These include Remote Sensing (RS), Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) are such technologies that are much more reliable, precise and efficient as well than any other resource assessment technology. These technologies give a visual impression of the landscape that helps to make quick decision in resource management. Satellite remote sensing, in conjunction with geographic information systems (GIS), has been widely applied and been recognized as a powerful and effective tool in detecting land use and land cover change. It provides cost-effective multi-spectral and multi-temporal data, and turns them into information valuable for understanding and monitoring land development patterns.
