Book Crack Cocaine Evil Spirit in Jesus Name I Command You to Release Your Hold

Download or read book Crack Cocaine Evil Spirit in Jesus Name I Command You to Release Your Hold written by Christian Willie J. Henderson and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2012-09-01 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Apostle Paul stated publicly, “To the Jew I became like a Jew to win the Jews… To those not having the law I became like one not having the law, so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some” (1Cor.9:20-22 TNIV.)Just as the Apostle Paul unfortunately had to live through, suffer, literally “BECOME THE PERSON he was called to witness to in order that he would be able to understand and help them with their problem”, Pastor Willie, comparable to Paul, also live through, suffered, struggled with crack cocaine addiction, homelesness and as a result he understands the deception, complications, rejection, misery, pain and agony that crack cocaine addicts go through in their search for deliverance. For those reasons God has also called him into ministry with the purpose of using Pastor Willie's testimony, knowledge, struggles, and compassion for the drug addicted to help deliver, witness and bring them into a happy, drug free, praise worthy relationship with God! The truth is that God knows “when people are in “bondage” (Ex2:23; 6:5-6), held a slave to anyone or anything that they will neglect to praise and serve him”. (See Ex.6:9).That why I fearlessly say to the evil spirit of crack cocaine influence, “Demon spirit of crack cocaine Bondage let my people go that THEY MAY PRAISE THE LORD!” (See Ex. 1:13-14; 3:7-12; 2:23; 8:1, 20; 9:1). Are you sick are tired of going in and out of rehabs only to relapse shortly afterward being released, tired of being confused about why you're or a love is having such a hard time tired breaking the addiction, tired of prostituting yourself, and being viewed as weak and pathedic by the world? Well, your deliverance is moments away!

Book excerpt: “Iced is a powerhouse. . . . Ray Shell writes beautifully. The story is heartbreaking. I kept putting it down and picking it up again—it won’t let me go.”—Maya Angelou A timeless tale of one man’s decline into the depths of addiction that is at both a shocking study of the addict’s life, and a deeply compelling and often uplifting tale of human love and loss. First published at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic thirty years ago, Ray Shell’s “powerhouse” (Maya Angelou) of a novel is as timely and relevant today as it was in 1994. It is the story of Cornelius Washington, a young upper-middle-class Black man blessed with burning talent and ambition, who enjoys experimenting with drugs—a dangerous pastime that gradually becomes a destructive addiction. Now a middle-aged crackhead, Cornelius ponders his life and the choices that have led him here. Written as a series of immersive stream of consciousness diary entries, Iced captures the despair and dashed dreams of a man caught between the harsh realities of his present and the adventures and upheavals of his past—a youth marked by a host of characters both intriguing and terrifying. A complicated man both compelling and maddening, sympathetic and defiant, Cornelius tries desperately to break free from his addiction, a struggle that ends in defeat time and time again. Despite the thought loops that lead to his bad choices, this painfully realistic character elicits hope for his survival, even though he will likely meet a devastating end. Resonant and haunting, illuminating and heartbreaking, Iced paints a portait of being Black in America, and the ways in which marginalized communities are targeted and ignored, left to suffer the consequences of policies made by powerful people ignorant and uncaring of their lives. It is a novel that transcends time, offering a glimpse of the past that is present in our lives today.

Finding the strength to pull his life together, he graduated summa cum laude from college, graduated from law school, and married. But because of his conviction, he was not even allowed to sit for the bar exam in Florida. And when his wife ran for state office, he was filled with pride—but not permitted to vote for her. Meade takes us on a journey from his time in homeless shelters, to the exhilarating, joyful night in November of 2018, when Amendment 4 passed with 65 percent of the vote. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While he was still in his twenties, Horace Tapscott gave up a successful career in Lionel Hampton’s band and returned to his home in Los Angeles to found the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra, a community arts group that focused on providing affordable, community-oriented jazz and jazz training. Over the course of almost forty years, the Arkestra, together with the related Union of God’s Musicians and Artists Ascension (UGMAA) Foundation, were at the forefront of the vital community-based arts movements in black Los Angeles. Some three hundred artists—musicians, vocalists, poets, playwrights, painters, sculptors, and graphic artists—passed through these organizations, many ultimately remaining within the community and others moving on to achieve international fame. Based primarily on one hundred in-depth interviews with current and former participants, The Dark Tree is the first history of the important and largely overlooked community arts movement of African American Los Angeles. Brought to life by the passionate voices of the men and women who worked to make the arts integral to everyday community life, this engrossing book completes the account began in the highly acclaimed Central Avenue Sounds, which documented the secular music history of the first half of the twentieth century and which the San Francisco Examiner called "one of the best jazz books ever compiled."

Book Dark Alliance

Download or read book Dark Alliance written by Gary Webb and published by Seven Stories Press. This book was released on 2011-01-04 with total page 592 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Major Motion Picture based on Dark Alliance and starring Jeremy Renner, "Kill the Messenger," to be be released in Fall 2014 In August 1996, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Gary Webb stunned the world with a series of articles in the San Jose Mercury News reporting the results of his year-long investigation into the roots of the crack cocaine epidemic in America, specifically in Los Angeles. The series, titled “Dark Alliance,” revealed that for the better part of a decade, a Bay Area drug ring sold tons of cocaine to Los Angeles street gangs and funneled millions in drug profits to the CIA-backed Nicaraguan Contras. Gary Webb pushed his investigation even further in his book, Dark Alliance: The CIA, The Contras, and the Crack Cocaine Explosion. Drawing from then newly declassified documents, undercover DEA audio and videotapes that had never been publicly released, federal court testimony, and interviews, Webb demonstrates how our government knowingly allowed massive amounts of drugs and money to change hands at the expense of our communities. Webb’s own stranger-than-fiction experience is also woven into the book. His excoriation by the media—not because of any wrongdoing on his part, but by an insidious process of innuendo and suggestion that in effect blamed Webb for the implications of the story—had been all but predicted. Webb was warned off doing a CIA expose by a former Associated Press journalist who lost his job when, years before, he had stumbled onto the germ of the “Dark Alliance” story. And though Internal investigations by both the CIA and the Justice Department eventually vindicated Webb, he had by then been pushed out of the Mercury News and gone to work for the California State Legislature Task Force on Government Oversight. He died in 2004.

Book High Price

Download or read book High Price written by Carl Hart and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2013-06-11 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High Price is the harrowing and inspiring memoir of neuroscientist Carl Hart, a man who grew up in one of Miami’s toughest neighborhoods and, determined to make a difference as an adult, tirelessly applies his scientific training to help save real lives. Young Carl didn't see the value of school, studying just enough to keep him on the basketball team. Today, he is a cutting-edge neuroscientist—Columbia University’s first tenured African American professor in the sciences—whose landmark, controversial research is redefining our understanding of addiction. In this provocative and eye-opening memoir, Dr. Carl Hart recalls his journey of self-discovery, how he escaped a life of crime and drugs and avoided becoming one of the crack addicts he now studies. Interweaving past and present, Hart goes beyond the hype as he examines the relationship between drugs and pleasure, choice, and motivation, both in the brain and in society. His findings shed new light on common ideas about race, poverty, and drugs, and explain why current policies are failing.

Book excerpt: Understanding Addiction By: Sadie Petersen Understanding Addiction: Behind the Scenes isn’t going to be like that nagging uncle telling you to kick your son out on the streets. It’s not going to tell you what you should and shouldn’t do about your sister, grandson, daughter, mom, brother, or best friend’s addiction, either. It’s not going to hammer you with statistics and big words about addiction that make no sense, or stuff a bunch of scientific jargon down your throats. What author Sadie Petersen does provide you with is some REAL personal stories about her own life and experiences, real struggles addicts might be afraid to tell you themselves, and some REAL advice and “answers,” by giving you a look behind the scenes of drug addiction. This book is about helping you, and so many others like you, to take a deeper look inside drug addiction by providing a better understanding of this lifestyle through different perspectives, and to help you find the peace and understanding for which you might be searching. It is Petersen’s goal that, after reading her book, every reader will leave with the ability to think objectively and critically about the severity that comes with addiction, and learn how to apply their own behaviors in situations that may arise with their loved one’s addiction. Petersen hopes her audience WILL understand this lifestyle more clearly after reading her story and be able to apply it to their own lives to create improved outcomes for the long run. There are no RIGHT answers in dealing with drug addiction. But, with ten plus years of experience within this lifestyle, Petersen has found her peace with it, and she knows you can, too!

Book E C S Finest

Download or read book E C S Finest written by Fat Mack and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2016-03-19 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the early 70s in Cleveland, Ohio, I was told that suburbs were beautiful where the high societies and rich folks had lived, such as Shaker Heights, Garfield Heights, Warrensville Heights, and others. But mostly white citizens of these communities had kept their lawns and home up to par like they were in a contest to see whose yards and gardens were the prettiest. And the heights police had made sure that these places had stayed this way by keeping lower-standard living people and crooks out, making sure that their communities where they lived stayed colorless. You may have seen a few blacks here and there in Shaker Heights or any of the heights, but you best believe that they were either lawyers, doctors, or professionals with degrees; most of these blacks probably had a white spouse who had produced mixed children.
