However, many people have no idea how regulations are developed or how they have an impact on our lives. Regulation: A Primer by Susan Dudley and Jerry Brito provides an accessible overview of regulatory theory, analysis, and practice. The Primer examines the constitutional underpinnings of federal regulation and discusses who writes and enforces regulation and how they do it. Published by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, it also provides insights into the different varieties of regulation and how to analyze whether a regulatory proposal makes citizens better or worse off. Each chapter discusses key aspects of regulation and provides further readings for those interested in exploring these topics in more detail.

Book The Impact of Regulatory Costs on Small Firms

Download or read book The Impact of Regulatory Costs on Small Firms written by Nicole V. Crain and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2005 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a print on demand edition of a hard to find publication. The annual cost of federal regulations in the U.S. increased to more than $1.75 trillion in 2008. Had every U.S. household paid an equal share of the federal regulatory burden, each would have owed $15,586 in 2008. While all citizens and businesses pay some portion of these costs, the distribution of the burden of regulations is quite uneven. The portion of regulatory costs that falls initially on businesses was $8,086 per employee in 2008. Small businesses, defined as firms employing fewer than 20 employees, bear the largest burden of federal regulations. This report shows that as of 2008, small businesses face an annual regulatory cost of $10,585 per employee, which is 36% higher than the regulatory cost facing large firms (500+ employees). Ill.

Book Get the Heck out of Our Way

Download or read book Get the Heck out of Our Way written by Dale W. Cox and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2018-01-19 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Government regulations are increasingly holding back economic development, inflating the prices of most consumer goods, and reducing our freedoms. Dale W. Cox, and his wife, LeAnne, know that firsthand as they have operated businesses of various types throughout the years. What theyve found is rules and regulations that constantly change and get more complicated, which hurts their businesses, their family, and their customers. In this book, Cox gives a detailed account of how these regulations make it more expensive to do business, boost inflation, discourage innovation, curb economic growth, and reduce personal and business freedom. The examples of how regulations affect us from a cost and choice standpoint are illustrations that everyone can relate to, including buying a gallon of milk or a car. Coxs goal is to educate as many people as he can so we can move forward as a nation to restore freedom by supporting elected officials and others willing to do something about it. Its time to demand that we keep the fruits of our labor, which starts with telling meddling regulators to Get the Heck Out of Our Way!

Book Housing Costs Government Regulations

Download or read book Housing Costs Government Regulations written by Stephen R. Seidel and published by Routledge. This book was released on 1978 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph explores the effects of government regulations on housing costs in all areas in which housing construction is touched by government. From the national to the local level, the impact of zoning laws, environmental controls, building codes, settlement and financing regulations, and other regulations are assessed in terms of mandated dollars which developers and builders--and thus the consumer--must spend. Based on a national sampling of interviews and case studies, this volume explores regulatory cost implications and shows how to determine the total cost effect of government regulations on housing costs.
