Book Corporate Repentance And Producing It

Download or read book Corporate Repentance And Producing It written by James Tarter and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2016-03-13 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We can easily see a great need for many nations and churches to repent in order to get healthy and stay healthy. If we have taken this need seriously, then most likely we have already found that real progress seems disappointingly hard or impossible. We can be greatly encouraged by seeing in the Bible that God plans to transform huge groups of people through His believers in Jesus: whole localities, lands, nations, and people groups. We can also see that this repentance begins with a great repentance of His people in these groups. Producing corporate repentance causes special problems that God wants to solve through His children learning to work with Him, with each other, and with His better ways of living in Christ Jesus. The repentance of both His people in a huge group and the whole huge group goes far beyond what we have seen up to now.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Where Are Critical Theory and the Social Justice Movement Taking Us? Critical theory and its expression in fields such as critical race theory, critical pedagogy, and queer theory are having a profound impact on our culture. Contemporary critical theory’s ideas about race, class, gender, identity, and justice have dramatically shaped how people think, act, and view one another—in Christian and secular spheres alike. In Critical Dilemma, authors Neil Shenvi and Pat Sawyer illuminate the origins and influences of contemporary critical theory, considering it in the light of clear reason and biblical orthodoxy. While acknowledging that it can provide some legitimate insights regarding race, class, and gender, Critical Dilemma exposes the false assumptions at the heart of critical theory, arguing that it poses a serious threat to both the church and society at large. Drawing on exhaustive research and careful analysis, Shenvi and Sawyer condemn racism, urge Christians to seek justice, and offer a path forward for racial healing and unity while also opposing critical theory’s manifold errors.

Book The Second Epistle to the Corinthians

Download or read book The Second Epistle to the Corinthians written by Murray J. Harris and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2013-08-22 with total page 1071 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The reputation of the NIGTC series is so outstanding that the appearance of each new volume is noteworthy. This book on 2 Corinthians is no exception. Master New Testament exegete Murray J. Harris has produced a superb commentary that analyzes the Greek text verse by verse against the backdrop of Paul's tumultuous relations with his converts at Corinth. Believing that Scripture cannot be understood theologically unless it has first been understood grammatically, Harris provides a careful, thoroughgoing reading of the text of 2 Corinthians. He gives special attention to matters of translation, making regular references not only to the standard modern English translations but also to influential older versions such as The Twentieth Century New Testament and those by Weymouth, Moffatt, and Goodspeed. His close attention to matters of textual criticism and grammar leads to discussions of the theology of 2 Corinthians that show the relevance of Paul's teaching to Christian living and church ministry. Other notable features of the book include a comprehensive introduction in which all the relevant literary and historical issues are discussed, an expanded paraphrase of the letter that conveniently shows Harris's decisions on exegetical issues and indicates the flow of Paul's argument, a chronology of the relations of Paul, Timothy, and Titus with the Corinthian church, and an excursus on Paul's "affliction in Asia" (1:8-11) and its influence on his outlook and theology.

Book excerpt: The Bible shows God's plan to work through the Body of Christ to heal people and even whole nations. God gives His plan especially in Ephesians, John, 2Chron. 7:13-14, and Romans 8. Every nation today is sick because the Church there has not yet followed His plan, which goes far beyond our imaginations or anything that has been accomplished up to now. Nevertheless, Ephesians shows God's commitment to fulfill His plan. This book shows all these things, specifically including how the Body of Christ is to heal nations and deliver people from moral corruption through Jesus Christ. This book also shows the Bible's strategy for individual believers in Jesus to help the whole Body of Christ go far beyond all that it has done up to now.

Book excerpt: Tony Lane surveys a wide range of doctrines relating to our experience of God’s gracious salvation. He begins with our need as sinful and fallen people, moves on to consider what is involved in becoming a Christian – majoring on justification (being put right with God) – and concludes with sanctification (living the Christian life). As well as expounding various aspects of these doctrines, Lane introduces their historical roots in classical expositions. Lane warns that these doctrines are in danger of being lost by significant sectors of evangelicalism, and he explains them clearly. He encourages readers to hold firmly to an evangelical soteriology, having a greater understanding of it and a stronger conviction of its truth, with experience of its application to Christian discipleship.

Book A NATION S DAY of the LORD

Download or read book A NATION S DAY of the LORD written by James Tarter and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-11-02 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Day of the Lord on a nation is its just judgment by God: a nation's full accountability to the just and loving God for the nation's sins throughout its history. The Bible shows many examples of God's just judgment of ancient nations as whole units. National judgments have continued through the centuries after Biblical times, but have become especially common in the last 80 years as nation after nation has come under atheistic communism or another dominating spiritual darkness. As with individuals, a nation that has sinned badly can be justly blessed by joining itself to the Lord Jesus and receiving His sacrifice for sinful mankind. For a nation to receive this blessing, believers in Jesus need to help the people in their land to want Jesus in their hearts and lives. This little book shows all of this and more.

Download or read book GOD S CURE for the POST CHRISTIAN SYNDROME Western Europe written by James Tarter and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-05-23 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Christianity with little of Christ for generations causes a nation to become like Judah in Malachi. This includes nations in Western Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the U.S. Many people in all these nations have hearts hardened against the true God and His words to us. Malachi shows that God is preparing His faithful people, so that at the right time He will release them mightily as He did Jesus in Judea. This will heal the hardened hearts of many people who have not yet really tasted God's goodness in Jesus. God has made a way in Christ to rescue each of these nations from heading toward certain destruction into becoming Jesus' national disciple. Malachi helps us to see God's work in His people in any of these nations like Judah while the nation keeps corrupting itself. Then God's sudden release of His prepared people with great power and healing changes everything!
