Book The Chemistry of Coordination Complexes and Transition Metals

Download or read book The Chemistry of Coordination Complexes and Transition Metals written by P.L. Soni and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-05-14 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers all important nomenclature, theories of bonding and stereochemistry of coordination complexes. The authors have made an effort to inscribe the ideas knowledge, clearly and in an interesting way to benefit the readers. The complexities of Molecular Orbital theory have been explained in a very simple and easy manner. It also deals with transition and inner transition metals. Conceptually, all transition and inner transition elements form complexes which have definite geometry and show interesting properties. General and specific methods of preparation, physical and chemical properties of each element has been discussed at length. Group wise study of elements in d-block series have been explained. Important compounds, complexes and organometallic compounds of metals in different oxidation states have been given explicitly. Note: T&F does not sell or distribute the Hardback in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Book An Investigation of the Distorted Geometries of Copper II Nickel II and Cobalt II Complexes Induced by 1 3 Bis pyridylimino isoindoline Derivatives

Download or read book An Investigation of the Distorted Geometries of Copper II Nickel II and Cobalt II Complexes Induced by 1 3 Bis pyridylimino isoindoline Derivatives written by Amanda Courtney Robinson and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Biomimetic properties of copper, nickel, and cobalt coordination compounds have been studied extensively as these metals are found in the active sites of numerous proteins. Coordinating ligands with nitrogen donor atoms are especially of interest because nitrogen is also extremely common at these active sites. By changing the structure of the ligand, the complexes can be modified to mimic a wide array of enzymes. Studying these complexes has led researchers to propose mechanisms for many enzymes. In this work, tridentate ligands with nitrogen donor atoms were complexed with Cu(II), Ni(II), and Co(II) to form tetracoordinate and pentacoordinate systems. Syntheses and characterizations will be presented including X-ray crystallographic data, electron spin resonance, and electronic absorption data. [phi]t, [omega], and [tau] parameters will be given to describe the distorted geometries of the metal-ligand complexes.

Book Introduction to Coordination Chemistry

Download or read book Introduction to Coordination Chemistry written by Geoffrey A. Lawrance and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-03-15 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the heart of coordination chemistry lies the coordinate bond, in its simplest sense arising from donation of a pair of electrons from a donor atom to an empty orbital on a central metalloid or metal. Metals overwhelmingly exist as their cations, but these are rarely met ‘naked’ – they are clothed in an array of other atoms, molecules or ions that involve coordinate covalent bonds (hence the name coordination compounds). These metal ion complexes are ubiquitous in nature, and are central to an array of natural and synthetic reactions. Written in a highly readable, descriptive and accessible style Introduction to Coordination Chemistry describes properties of coordination compounds such as colour, magnetism and reactivity as well as the logic in their assembly and nomenclature. It is illustrated with many examples of the importance of coordination chemistry in real life, and includes extensive references and a bibliography. Introduction to Coordination Chemistry is a comprehensive and insightful discussion of one of the primary fields of study in Inorganic Chemistry for both undergraduate and non-specialist readers.
