Book Organized Crime in Chicago

Download or read book Organized Crime in Chicago written by Robert M. Lombardo and published by University of Illinois Press. This book was released on 2012-12-30 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive sociological explanation for the emergence and continuation of organized crime in Chicago. Tracing the roots of political corruption that afforded protection to gambling, prostitution, and other vice activity in Chicago and other large American cities, Robert M. Lombardo challenges the dominant belief that organized crime in America descended directly from the Sicilian Mafia. According to this widespread "alien conspiracy" theory, organized crime evolved in a linear fashion beginning with the Mafia in Sicily, emerging in the form of the Black Hand in America's immigrant colonies, and culminating in the development of the Cosa Nostra in America's urban centers. Looking beyond this Mafia paradigm, this volume argues that the development of organized crime in Chicago and other large American cities was rooted in the social structure of American society. Specifically, Lombardo ties organized crime to the emergence of machine politics in America's urban centers. From nineteenth-century vice syndicates to the modern-day Outfit, Chicago's criminal underworld could not have existed without the blessing of those who controlled municipal, county, and state government. These practices were not imported from Sicily, Lombardo contends, but were bred in the socially disorganized slums of America where elected officials routinely franchised vice and crime in exchange for money and votes. This book also traces the history of the African-American community's participation in traditional organized crime in Chicago and offers new perspectives on the organizational structure of the Chicago Outfit, the traditional organized crime group in Chicago.

Book The Crime of Conspiracy in International Criminal Law

Download or read book The Crime of Conspiracy in International Criminal Law written by Juliet R. Amenge Okoth and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-05-13 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book looks at the relevance of conspiracy in international criminal law. It establishes that conspiracy was introduced into international criminal law for purposes of prevention and to combat the collective nature of participation in commission of international crimes. Its use as a tool of accountability has, however, been affected by conflicting conceptual perceptions of conspiracy from common law and civil law countries. This conflict is displayed in the decisions on conspiracy by the international criminal tribunals, and finally culminates into the exclusion of punishment of conspiracy in the Rome Statute. It is questionable whether this latest development on the law of conspiracy was a prudent decision. While the function of conspiracy as a mode of liability is satisfactorily covered by the modes of participation in the Rome Statute, its function as a purely inchoate crime used to punish incomplete crimes is missing. This book creates a case for inclusion in the Rome Statute, punishment of conspiracies involving international crimes that do not extend beyond the conceptual stage, to reinforce the Statute’s purpose of prevention. The conspiracy concept proposed is one that reflects the characteristics acceptable under both common law and civil law systems.

Based On A True Story Human Trafficking along with the illegal, inside the home video watching & tracking, the set-up of physical assaults, stalking, harassing, intimidation, blacklisting, slander, & attempts at general destruction is why so many of these women's lives are destroyed. All documented in this book... A deeper look into the conspiracy against everyday people, the country, law enforcement, and parts of the government, crimes in plain sight, and the deception used to cover it up. If you want insight into foreign interference, and how things such as the election interference of 2016 could have happened, some of the culprits of these cyber attacks, and misleading information being planted, the companies and people doing these crimes, including Warfare testing on people in American, then this book is a must read. It discusses social media sites, and other big companies that are selling out to corruption, corruption and crime going on in plain sight, a true secret society of crime. A must read for everyday people in the United States and around the world. For those who are the victim of these targeted crimes and for those coerced to participate in these conspiracy crimes. For law enforcement throughout the country that want to get to the bottom of what has been going on, and how they can stop it before the next election and before it is too late for the country. Written as an entertaining dramatic novel, the first few chapters laying the foundation of the characters and what is known about this organized crime group, but by chapters, 5-"The Silver Bullet," 6-"In the Name of Research," 7-"Drugging, Assault, And Destruction, 8-"Crime in Plain Sight," and 9-"Human Warfare Testing in America," all the unimaginable, real life dirty deeds and humanitarian crimes come out, such as trafficking, voyeurism, drugging, and illegal videotaping that is then being sold on the dark web, nationally and internationally, drone tracking & much more, and those who are funding and assisting in these crimes are documented in this eye opening testament to the atrocities being committed on Targeted Individuals in the United States. My reason and goal for writing these books, is to expose these crimes for federal law enforcement and Washington government committees to take note by investigating and bringing new laws against organized stalking, harassment, and human warfare testing and to hopefully receive justice for me and the thousands of others these, civil and criminal human rights violations, are being done to.
