Download or read book Connected written by P K Babcock and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2014-12-22 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Connected is about a near-death experience I had in 1960, following a ruptured appendix. At the end of this wonderful experience, I didn't wish to come back inside my body. An angel beside me told me, "You have to go back, Peter. It's not your time, and you have many important things to do." In the following thirteen years, I saved or helped to save six people's lives, and over time, helped out many other people. Although these many other people were not in life-or-death struggles, they nonetheless were in dire situations and needed help supplied by me and the Lord.

Download or read book Proofs and Ideas written by B. Sethuraman and published by American Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2021-12-02 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Proofs and Ideas serves as a gentle introduction to advanced mathematics for students who previously have not had extensive exposure to proofs. It is intended to ease the student's transition from algorithmic mathematics to the world of mathematics that is built around proofs and concepts. The spirit of the book is that the basic tools of abstract mathematics are best developed in context and that creativity and imagination are at the core of mathematics. So, while the book has chapters on statements and sets and functions and induction, the bulk of the book focuses on core mathematical ideas and on developing intuition. Along with chapters on elementary combinatorics and beginning number theory, this book contains introductory chapters on real analysis, group theory, and graph theory that serve as gentle first exposures to their respective areas. The book contains hundreds of exercises, both routine and non-routine. This book has been used for a transition to advanced mathematics courses at California State University, Northridge, as well as for a general education course on mathematical reasoning at Krea University, India.
Download or read book Effective Faithful Tropicalizations Associated to Linear Systems on Curves written by Shu Kawaguchi and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2021-07-21 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For a connected smooth projective curve X of genus g, global sections of any line bundle L with deg(L) ≥ 2g + 1 give an embedding of the curve into projective space. We consider an analogous statement for a Berkovich skeleton in nonarchimedean geometry: We replace projective space by tropical projective space, and an embedding by a homeomorphism onto its image preserving integral structures (or equivalently, since X is a curve, an isometry), which is called a faithful tropicalization. Let K be an algebraically closed field which is complete with respect to a nontrivial nonarchimedean value. Suppose that X is defined over K and has genus g ≥ 2 and that Γ is a skeleton (that is allowed to have ends) of the analytification Xan of X in the sense of Berkovich. We show that if deg(L) ≥ 3g − 1, then global sections of L give a faithful tropicalization of Γ into tropical projective space. As an application, when Y is a suitable affine curve, we describe the analytification Y an as the limit of tropicalizations of an effectively bounded degree.

Download or read book Mathematical Analysis II written by V. A. Zorich and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-02-12 with total page 729 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second English edition of a very popular two-volume work presents a thorough first course in analysis, leading from real numbers to such advanced topics as differential forms on manifolds; asymptotic methods; Fourier, Laplace, and Legendre transforms; elliptic functions; and distributions. Especially notable in this course are the clearly expressed orientation toward the natural sciences and the informal exploration of the essence and the roots of the basic concepts and theorems of calculus. Clarity of exposition is matched by a wealth of instructive exercises, problems, and fresh applications to areas seldom touched on in textbooks on real analysis. The main difference between the second and first English editions is the addition of a series of appendices to each volume. There are six of them in the first volume and five in the second. The subjects of these appendices are diverse. They are meant to be useful to both students (in mathematics and physics) and teachers, who may be motivated by different goals. Some of the appendices are surveys, both prospective and retrospective. The final survey establishes important conceptual connections between analysis and other parts of mathematics. This second volume presents classical analysis in its current form as part of a unified mathematics. It shows how analysis interacts with other modern fields of mathematics such as algebra, differential geometry, differential equations, complex analysis, and functional analysis. This book provides a firm foundation for advanced work in any of these directions.
Download or read book Global Controllability And Stabilization Of Nonlinear Systems written by Sergey Nikitin and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994-09-30 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main purpose of this book is to provide a self-contained, complete and geometrically clear presentation of the recent results on global controllability and stabilization. It contains many pictures and exercises so as to develop a geometrical control intuition and inspire the reader to think independently. The material presented is organized such that for Part I, it is only assumed that the reader has mastered the very basic notions of ordinary differential equation theory, general topology and analytic geometry. For Part II, the reader is assumed to be familiar with the elements of differential geometry.
Download or read book Analytical Mechanics written by Valter Moretti and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-05-31 with total page 848 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook aims at introducing readers, primarily students enrolled in undergraduate Mathematics or Physics courses, to the topics and methods of classical Mathematical Physics, including Classical Mechanics, its Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formulations, Lyapunov stability, plus the Liouville theorem and the Poincaré recurrence theorem among others. The material also rigorously covers the theory of Special Relativity. The logical-mathematical structure of the physical theories of concern is introduced in an axiomatic way, starting from a limited number of physical assumptions. Special attention is paid to themes with a major impact on Theoretical and Mathematical Physics beyond Analytical Mechanics, such as the Galilean symmetry of classical Dynamics and the Poincaré symmetry of relativistic Dynamics, the far-fetching relationship between symmetries and constants of motion, the coordinate-free nature of the underpinning mathematical objects, or the possibility of describing Dynamics in a global way while still working in local coordinates. Based on the author’s established teaching experience, the text was conceived to be flexible and thus adapt to different curricula and to the needs of a wide range of students and instructors.
Download or read book Advanced Calculus for Economics and Finance written by Giulio Bottazzi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-07-01 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook provides a comprehensive introduction to mathematical calculus. Written for advanced undergraduate and graduate students, it teaches the fundamental mathematical concepts, methods and tools required for various areas of economics and the social sciences, such as optimization and measure theory. The reader will be introduced to topological, metric and normed spaces, learning about numerical sequences, series, and differential and integral calculus. These concepts are introduced using the axiomatic approach as a tool for logical reasoning, consistency, and formalization of ideas. The book follows a theorem-proving approach, stressing the limitations of applying the different theorems, while providing thought-provoking counter-examples. Each chapter features exercises that facilitate learning and allow students to apply and test important concepts and tools.
Download or read book A Taste of Topology written by Volker Runde and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-12-07 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This should be a revelation for mathematics undergraduates. Having evolved from Runde’s notes for an introductory topology course at the University of Alberta, this essential text provides a concise introduction to set-theoretic topology, as well as some algebraic topology. It is accessible to undergraduates from the second year on, and even beginning graduate students can benefit from some sections. The well-chosen selection of examples is accessible to students who have a background in calculus and elementary algebra, but not necessarily in real or complex analysis. In places, Runde’s text treats its material differently to other books on the subject, providing a fresh perspective.

Download or read book Set Function T written by Sergio Macías and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-20 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents, in a clear and structured way, the set function \mathcal{T} and how it evolved since its inception by Professor F. Burton Jones in the 1940s. It starts with a very solid introductory chapter, with all the prerequisite material for navigating through the rest of the book. It then gradually advances towards the main properties, Decomposition theorems, \mathcal{T}-closed sets, continuity and images, to modern applications. The set function \mathcal{T} has been used by many mathematicians as a tool to prove results about the semigroup structure of the continua, and about the existence of a metric continuum that cannot be mapped onto its cone or to characterize spheres. Nowadays, it has been used by topologists worldwide to investigate open problems in continuum theory. This book can be of interest to both advanced undergraduate and graduate students, and to experienced researchers as well. Its well-defined structure make this book suitable not only for self-study but also as support material to seminars on the subject. Its many open problems can potentially encourage mathematicians to contribute with further advancements in the field.
Download or read book Topics on Continua written by Sergio Macías and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-07-24 with total page 451 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a significant companion text to the existing literature on continuum theory. It opens with background information of continuum theory, so often missing from the preceding publications, and then explores the following topics: inverse limits, the Jones set function T, homogenous continua, and n-fold hyperspaces. In this new edition of the book, the author builds on the aforementioned topics, including the unprecedented presentation of n-fold hyperspace suspensions and induced maps on n-fold hyperspaces. The first edition of the book has had a remarkable impact on the continuum theory community. After twelve years, this updated version will also prove to be an excellent resource within the field of topology.

This book was released on 2020-10-01 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Connectivity is one of the most important concepts in graph theory. Since Neutrosophic Graphs are a branch of graphs, connectivity will be very important in this branch as well. In this paper, we will define the connectivity in Neutrosophic graphs using the strength of connectedness between each pair of its vertices. Also in this article, we define two new concepts of Partial connectivity index and totally connectivity index. We present several theorems related to these concepts and prove the theorems.
