Book Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Public Healthcare

Download or read book Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Public Healthcare written by KC Santosh and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-01-01 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses and evaluates AI and machine learning (ML) algorithms in dealing with challenges that are primarily related to public health. It also helps find ways in which we can measure possible consequences and societal impacts by taking the following factors into account: open public health issues and common AI solutions (with multiple case studies, such as TB and SARS: COVID-19), AI in sustainable health care, AI in precision medicine and data privacy issues. Public health requires special attention as it drives economy and education system. COVID-19 is an example—a truly infectious disease outbreak. The vision of WHO is to create public health services that can deal with abovementioned crucial challenges by focusing on the following elements: health protection, disease prevention and health promotion. For these issues, in the big data analytics era, AI and ML tools/techniques have potential to improve public health (e.g., existing healthcare solutions and wellness services). In other words, they have proved to be valuable tools not only to analyze/diagnose pathology but also to accelerate decision-making procedure especially when we consider resource-constrained regions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Artificial intelligence (AI) has been much in the news recently, with some commentators expressing concern that AI might eventually replace humans. But many developments in AI are designed to enhance and supplement the performance of humans rather than replace them, and a novel field of study, with new approaches and solutions to the development of AI, has arisen to focus on this aspect of the technology. This book presents the proceedings of HHAI2023, the 2nd International Conference on Hybrid Human-Artificial Intelligence, held from 26-30 June 2023, in Munich, Germany. The HHAI international conference series is focused on the study of artificially intelligent systems that cooperate synergistically, proactively, responsibly and purposefully with humans, amplifying rather than replacing human intelligence, and invites contributions from various fields, including AI, human-computer interaction, the cognitive and social sciences, computer science, philosophy, among others. A total of 78 submissions were received for the main conference track, and most papers were reviewed by at least three reviewers. The overall final acceptance rate was 43%, with 14 contributions accepted as full papers, 14 as working papers, and 6 as extended abstracts. The papers presented here cover topics including interactive hybrid agents; hybrid intelligence for decision support; hybrid intelligence for health; and values such as fairness and trust in hybrid intelligence. We further accepted 17 posters and 4 demos as well as 8 students to the first HHAI doctoral consortium this year. The authors of 4 working papers and 2 doctoral consortium submissions opted for not publishing their submissions to allow a later full submission, resulting in a total of 57 papers included in this proceedings Addressing all aspects of AI systems that assist humans and emphasizing the need for adaptive, collaborative, responsible, interactive, and human-centered artificial intelligence systems which can leverage human strengths and compensate for human weaknesses while considering social, ethical, and legal considerations, the book will be of interest to all those working in the field.

Book Ethical Artificial Intelligence in Power Electronics

Download or read book Ethical Artificial Intelligence in Power Electronics written by Tarandeep Kaur Bhatia and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-08-01 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the techniques of artificial intelligence that are mainly used in the power electronics field for the optimization of lost vehicle power. With the intention of optimizing the powerful energy of the vehicles and producing reliable energy, the most efficient methods, algorithms, and strategies of ethical artificial intelligence (AI) are being applied. By employing machine learning methods, the optimization of power energy in vehicles can be quickly recovered and managed efficiently. In today’s bustling world, power energy is indispensable for progress, yet in congested Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs), vehicles often face power depletion and decreased efficiency. This book explores these challenges, encompassing not only power but also other critical power electronics within vehicles. We aim to introduce innovative approaches, leveraging ethical AI methods, to optimize energy performance in the face of these difficulties. Through this exploration, we seek to provide practical insights into navigating congested VANET environments while upholding ethical principles in technological advancements. Our book will discuss the current power energy concerns faced by vehicles and also contribute a novel strategy to overcome those concerns. The employment of ethical AI in vehicular power energy will undoubtedly improve the effectiveness and production of vehicles.

Book Beyond Artificial Intelligence

Download or read book Beyond Artificial Intelligence written by Jan Romportl and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-08-11 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an edited collection of chapters based on the papers presented at the conference “Beyond AI: Artificial Dreams” held in Pilsen in November 2012. The aim of the conference was to question deep-rooted ideas of artificial intelligence and cast critical reflection on methods standing at its foundations. Artificial Dreams epitomize our controversial quest for non-biological intelligence and therefore the contributors of this book tried to fully exploit such a controversy in their respective chapters, which resulted in an interdisciplinary dialogue between experts from engineering, natural sciences and humanities. While pursuing the Artificial Dreams, it has become clear that it is still more and more difficult to draw a clear divide between human and machine. And therefore this book tries to portrait such an image of what lies beyond artificial intelligence: we can see the disappearing human-machine divide, a very important phenomenon of nowadays technological society, the phenomenon which is often uncritically praised, or hypocritically condemned. And so this phenomenon found its place in the subtitle of the whole volume as well as in the title of the chapter of Kevin Warwick, one of the keynote speakers at “Beyond AI: Artificial Dreams”.
