Book excerpt: INTELLIGENT DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEMS FOR SMART CITY APPLICATIONS This book provides smart city frameworks to address new difficulties by adding new features and allowing the city environment to react to collected data and information to increase the efficiency and sustainability of services for inhabitants. Making a smart city is an emerging strategy to mitigate the problems generated by urban population growth and rapid urbanization. This book aims to provide a better understanding of the concept of smart cities and the application of an intelligent decision support system. Based on the analysis of existing information there are eight critical factors of smart city initiatives: management and organization, technology, governance, policy context, people and communities, economy, built infrastructure, and natural environment. This book will focus on the application of the decision support system in managing these eight crucial aspects of smart cities. The intent in writing this book was also to provide a source that covers the stage-by-stage integration of the four key areas involving planning, physical infrastructure, ICT infrastructure, and deploying the smart solutions necessary for city transformation. With this as the motivation, “Decision Support Systems for Smart City Applications” provides the application of an intelligent decision support system for effectively and efficiently managing the transformation process, which can aid various supply chain stakeholders, academic researchers, and related professionals in building smart cities. Various chapters of this book are expected to support practicing managers during the implementation of smart solutions for city transformation. Audience This book is aimed at both academics and practitioners alike in the fields of intelligent computing, decision support systems, the manufacturing industry, supply chain managers, stakeholders, policymakers, and other technical and administrative personnel.

Book L tude de la relation client

Download or read book L tude de la relation client written by Jacques Angot and published by La Charte, Professional Publishing. This book was released on 2015-06-01 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book PROMOTION DE LA SANTE ET AUTONOMISATION DANS LE CONTEXTE AFRICAIN

Download or read book PROMOTION DE LA SANTE ET AUTONOMISATION DANS LE CONTEXTE AFRICAIN written by David HouŽto and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014-02-26 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book The Oxford Handbook of Organizational Paradox

Download or read book The Oxford Handbook of Organizational Paradox written by Wendy K. Smith and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2017-09-07 with total page 625 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The notion of paradox dates back to ancient philosophy, yet only recently have scholars started to explore this idea in organizational phenomena. Two decades ago, a handful of provocative theorists urged researchers to take seriously the study of paradox, and thereby deepen our understanding of plurality, tensions, and contradictions in organizational life. Studies of organizational paradox have grown exponentially over the past two decades, canvassing varied phenomena, methods, and levels of analysis. These studies have explored such tensions as today and tomorrow, global integration and local distinctions, collaboration and competition, self and others, mission and markets. Yet even with both the depth and breadth of interest in organizational paradoxes, key issues around definitions and application remain. This Handbook seeks to aid, engage, and fuel the expanding interest in organizational paradox. Contributions to this volume depict how paradox studies inform, and are informed, by other theoretical perspectives, while creating a resource that enables scholars to learn about and apply this lens across varied organizational phenomena. The increasing complexity, volatility, and ambiguity in our world continually surfaces paradoxical dynamics. Thus, this Handbook offers insights to scholars across organizational theory.

Book Price Quality and Trust

Download or read book Price Quality and Trust written by Mari Sako and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1992-10-08 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The management of buyer-supplier relations has come to be regarded as a key to achieving manufacturing competitiveness, particularly in sectors facing global competition based on both price and quality. This book is a theoretical and empirical exploration of the link between the type of buyer-supplier relations and corporate performance. Dr Sako examines how British and Japanese companies in the electronics industry manage their relationships with buyers and suppliers, the empirical study comprising a three-way comparison of a Japanese customer company, a British customer company, and a Japanese company in Britain, and an analysis of 36 supplier companies in Britain and Japan. Variations of the companies' business practices are assessed in terms of technology, the nature of market competition, the national legal framework, financial structures, employment systems, and the mode of entrepreneurship. The author identifies two distinct approaches in the two countries - the arm's-length contractual relation (ACR) in Britain, and the obligational contractual relation (OCR) in Japan - and argues that the trust and interdependence present in the latter can be a powerful springboard from which to achieve corporate success.

The papers represent the stimulating dialogue among psychologists, sociologists, political scientists, philosophers, economists, and students of finance and business administration. The authors are communicating across the frontiers of established disciplines to address enduring questions on economic theory and policy, and they aim to liberate the study of economics from the straitjacket of the neoclassical approach.

Book Collected Critical Writings

Download or read book Collected Critical Writings written by Geoffrey Hill and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 827 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Collected Critical Writings gathers more than forty years of Hill's published criticism, in a revised final form, and also adds much new work. It will serve as the canonical volume of criticism by Hill, the pre-eminent poet-critic whom A. N. Wilson has called "probably the best writer alive, in verse or in prose." In his criticism Hill ranges widely, investigating both poets (including Jonson, Dryden, Hopkins, Whitman, Eliot, and Yeats ) and prose writers (such as Tyndale, Clarendon, Hobbes, Burton, Emerson, and F. H. Bradley). He is also steeped in the historical context - political, poetic, and religious - of the writers he studies. Most importantly, he brings texts and contexts into new and telling relations, neither reducing texts to the circumstances of their utterance nor imagining that they can float free of them. A number of the essays have already established themselves as essential reading on particular subjects, such as his analysis of Vaughan's "The Night", his discussion of Gurney's poetry, and his critical account of The Oxford English Dictionary. Others confront the problems of language and the nature of value directly, as in "Our Word is Our Bond", "Language, Suffering, and Value", and "Poetry and Value". In all his criticism, Hill reveals literature to be an essential arena of civic intelligence.

Book Islamic Banking

Download or read book Islamic Banking written by Fuad A Al-Omar and published by Zed Books. This book was released on 1996-06 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Islam has a very specific approach to commercial transactions, the law of contract, interest charges, indeed to the very nature of property. For financial institutions operating in an Islamic environment, or seeking to meet the requirements of communities committed to Islamic law, this poses a variety of problems. This important book investigates how such a challenge can be met in practice. The authors investigate the way Islamic banks work within different economic, financial, social, legal and religious environments. They take the reader through the basic principles involved, the issues that arise, and the difficulties that are often encountered. Drawing on detailed studies of Islamic banking in London, Jordan, Turkey, Malaysia and Pakistan, they provide an understanding of how complex Islamic concepts impact upon the use of financial instruments, commercial priorities and services. Relationships with central banks, comparative analysis of financial statements and the role of Islamic banking in a development context are also covered. ISLAMIC BANKING will be essential reading to all those involved in the setting up and running of Islamic banking units in western countries, and a key resource for students of economics in the international arena.
