Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recommender systems provide users (businesses or individuals) with personalized online recommendations of products or information, to address the problem of information overload and improve personalized services. Recent successful applications of recommender systems are providing solutions to transform online services for e-government, e-business, e-commerce, e-shopping, e-library, e-learning, e-tourism, and more. This unique compendium not only describes theoretical research but also reports on new application developments, prototypes, and real-world case studies of recommender systems. The comprehensive volume provides readers with a timely snapshot of how new recommendation methods and algorithms can overcome challenging issues. Furthermore, the monograph systematically presents three dimensions of recommender systems — basic recommender system concepts, advanced recommender system methods, and real-world recommender system applications.By providing state-of-the-art knowledge, this excellent reference text will immensely benefit researchers, managers, and professionals in business, government, and education to understand the concepts, methods, algorithms and application developments in recommender systems.
Download or read book The Social Media Communication Matrix written by Kenneth D. Plowman and published by Business Expert Press. This book was released on 2015-09-10 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sophisticated problem solving in strategic communication or public relations (PR) is done through planning, strategic communication planning. The focus of this book is to meld current trends in social media to strategic communications planning in the field of PR. The definition of social media used here is channels delivering web-based information created by people to improve communication. This work used the strategic communication plan based on Wilson and Ogden's (2014) work for basic structure and an operational definition of strategic communication developed by one of the authors. The steps in a typical strategic communication campaign that will be affected include goals, measurable objectives, the big idea, key publics, message design, strategies and tactics and evaluation or return on investment. This book covers the major social media platforms and addresses branding, crisis communications, entertainment and sports, citizen journalism, and analytics. The contribution to the body of knowledge should be highly significant, affecting the way PR professionals go about devising and conducting strategic communication campaigns in light of the effect of social media as well as how academics teach the process in their classrooms.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hot-melt extrusion (HME) - melting a substance and forcing it through an orifice under controlled conditions to form a new material - is an emerging processing technology in the pharmaceutical industry for the preparation of various dosage forms and drug delivery systems, for example granules and sustained release tablets. Hot-Melt Extrusion: Pharmaceutical Applications covers the main instrumentation, operation principles and theoretical background of HME. It then focuses on HME drug delivery systems, dosage forms and clinical studies (including pharmacokinetics and bioavailability) of HME products. Finally, the book includes some recent and novel HME applications, scale -up considerations and regulatory issues. Topics covered include: principles and die design of single screw extrusion twin screw extrusion techniques and practices in the laboratory and on production scale HME developments for the pharmaceutical industry solubility parameters for prediction of drug/polymer miscibility in HME formulations the influence of plasticizers in HME applications of polymethacrylate polymers in HME HME of ethylcellulose, hypromellose, and polyethylene oxide bioadhesion properties of polymeric films produced by HME taste masking using HME clinical studies, bioavailability and pharmacokinetics of HME products injection moulding and HME processing for pharmaceutical materials laminar dispersive & distributive mixing with dissolution and applications to HME technological considerations related to scale-up of HME processes devices and implant systems by HME an FDA perspective on HME product and process understanding improved process understanding and control of an HME process with near-infrared spectroscopy Hot-Melt Extrusion: Pharmaceutical Applications is an essential multidisciplinary guide to the emerging pharmaceutical uses of this processing technology for researchers in academia and industry working in drug formulation and delivery, pharmaceutical engineering and processing, and polymers and materials science. This is the first book from our brand new series Advances in Pharmaceutical Technology. Find out more about the series here.

Download or read book Lectures on Finitely Generated Solvable Groups written by Katalin A. Bencsath and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-10-28 with total page 63 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lectures on Finitely Generated Solvable Groups are based on the “Topics in Group Theory" course focused on finitely generated solvable groups that was given by Gilbert G. Baumslag at the Graduate School and University Center of the City University of New York. While knowledge about finitely generated nilpotent groups is extensive, much less is known about the more general class of solvable groups containing them. The study of finitely generated solvable groups involves many different threads; therefore these notes contain discussions on HNN extensions; amalgamated and wreath products; and other concepts from combinatorial group theory as well as commutative algebra. Along with Baumslag’s Embedding Theorem for Finitely Generated Metabelian Groups, two theorems of Bieri and Strebel are presented to provide a solid foundation for understanding the fascinating class of finitely generated solvable groups. Examples are also supplied, which help illuminate many of the key concepts contained in the notes. Requiring only a modest initial group theory background from graduate and post-graduate students, these notes provide a field guide to the class of finitely generated solvable groups from a combinatorial group theory perspective.
