Georges wife got killed in a car wreck a couple years before they came back home. So George was trying to get the kids and him self back in order, because they had all kinds of memories their, and he had to get away from that place It was driving him nuts and he needed a change in things, so he thought he would just bring the kids back home where he came from, and that place was Harlan county, Kentucky.
