I have also included a considerable portion of the short autobiography which appeared in this last volume. I have reprinted it here, as it seems to me to form a far more fitting Preface to the Poems than any I could hope to write. The essays on Shelley and on Edgar Allan Poe and the letter on Tennyson have never yet been included in any edition of my husband's works.
