Book Co Design Co Delivery and Co Validation

Download or read book Co Design Co Delivery and Co Validation written by Joel Vargas and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The focus of this paper--and the series of which it is a part--is on improving student learning during the crucial period spanning grade 12 and the first year of college in order to build momentum for college success. In the introductory paper to this series, "Why 12th Grade Must Be Redesigned Now--and How," Jobs for the Future names this period the "transition zone" and argues that it is time for high schools and colleges to consider taking joint responsibility for the college and career readiness of students during these two years. This series suggests a "shared transition zone," in which secondary and postsecondary education systems and institutions would collaborate in key ways to bridge existing gaps and substantially increase the percentage of youth prepared for college and careers. While high schools and colleges have their own distinct roles in educating students--and are trying to make improvements in their respective systems--their shared interest in student success comes closest to converging at the end of high school and the beginning of college. The needs of young people leaving one institution and entering another are quite similar, but the leaps in academic and cultural expectations are quite large. We suggest that it is at this juncture where sharing responsibility for the same students in a shared transition zone can have a greater effect than acting apart. In this paper, the authors outline the principles of co-design, co-delivery, and co-validation that must guide the new partnerships between high school and college campuses and systems to raise college readiness and success. They describe the practices of exemplary partnerships around the country and suggest policies to promote the development of more partnerships that can spread this innovative work. [For the first paper in this series, "Why 12th Grade Must Be Redesigned Now--and How," see ED560768.].

Book Methods and Tools for Co operative and Integrated Design

Download or read book Methods and Tools for Co operative and Integrated Design written by Serge Tichkiewitch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: SMC COLOMBIER FONTAINE is a company in the AFE METAL group, which uses a sand casting process to manufacture steel primary parts. To reduce the "time to market", primary part producers need to reduce the time and cost of the industrialisation process. These factors, in addition to the global goal of improving process performance levels, brought SMC to develop numerical technologies and traceability from quotation to part delivery [1]. Nowadays, these improvements are incorporated into company culture. The next step in reducing the time and cost of the production process is to introduce a complete methodology of use and experience feedback of these new models and methods. To be able to generalise this approach, a CAD methodology is essential and thus becomes a step in the industrialisation process. The amount of improvements engendered by the numerical technologies largely justifies the time investment made to obtain a numerical definition of all the different elements in the sand casting process [2]. The objective of our approach is to optimise the product and its production process by generating a complete numerical reference, through the integration of quotation, CAD, simulation, new manufacturing technologies and effective production processes.

Book Analysing Design Thinking Studies of Cross Cultural Co Creation

Download or read book Analysing Design Thinking Studies of Cross Cultural Co Creation written by Bo T. Christensen and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-08-03 with total page 586 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The scientific analysis of design thinking continues to burgeon and is of considerable interest to academic scholars and design practitioners across many disciplines. This research tradition has generated a growing corpus of studies concerning how designers think during the creation of innovative products, although less focus has been given to analysing how designers think when creating less tangible deliverables such as concepts and user-insights. Analysing Design Thinking: Studies of Cross-Cultural Co-Creation brings together 28 contributions from internationally-leading academics with a shared interest in design thinking who take a close look at professional designers working on a project that not only involves soft deliverables, but where a central role is played by co-creation across multiple, culturally diverse stakeholders. This collection of detailed, multi-method analyses gives a unique insight into how a Scandinavian design team tackled a specific design task within the automotive industry over a four-month design process. All papers draw upon a common, video-based dataset and report analyses that link together a diversity of academic disciplines including psychology, anthropology, linguistics, philosophy, architecture, management, engineering and design studies. The dataset affords multiple entry points into the analysis of design thinking, with the selected papers demonstrating the application of a wide range of analytic techniques that generate distinct yet complementary insights. Collectively these papers provide a coherent framework for analysing and interpreting design thinking ‘in vivo’ through video-based field studies.

Book Using Open Data to Detect Organized Crime Threats

Download or read book Using Open Data to Detect Organized Crime Threats written by Henrik Legind Larsen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-04-07 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work provides an innovative look at the use of open data for extracting information to detect and prevent crime, and also explores the link between terrorism and organized crime. In counter-terrorism and other forms of crime prevention, foresight about potential threats is vitally important and this information is increasingly available via electronic data sources such as social media communications. However, the amount and quality of these sources is varied, and researchers and law enforcement need guidance about when and how to extract useful information from them. The emergence of these crime threats, such as communication between organized crime networks and radicalization towards terrorism, is driven by a combination of political, economic, social, technological, legal and environmental factors. The contributions to this volume represent a major step by researchers to systematically collect, filter, interpret, and use the information available. For the purposes of this book, the only data sources used are publicly available sources which can be accessed legally and ethically. This work will be of interest to researchers in criminology and criminal justice, particularly in police science, organized crime, counter-terrorism and crime science. It will also be of interest to those in related fields such as applications of computer science and data mining, public policy, and business intelligence.
