Book Clones of Satan s Chamber

Download or read book Clones of Satan s Chamber written by Royce O'Donnell and published by . This book was released on 2007-04-01 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You and I are surrounded by stories. Wherever you live makes no difference. Things happen to you and to me and take on all aspects of living. Some are humorous; others can be sobering. Sometimes the event causes real thinking, and it is still not possible to understand the event. When and if history is made we remember those things forever. Without a doubt the purpose of the printing of SwedeLand columns is for your enjoyment. The columns (stories) printed in this book tell of life and growing up on a farm in middle America, from the Depression days of the '30's to the retirement tales of the 21st Century. The events I have written about actually occurred. Sometimes I have written about things I do not understand. Believe me, there are many things I do not understand. As you read you will soon learn that family and friends are a vital part of my life. I first started writing in 1986 and the stories you read here were published in the Stratford Courier, the weekly Stratford, IA newspaper. The selections for the military section were difficult to choose. When a person is 18 and older and exposed to the scenes of War, it leaves an impression never to be forgotten. These military columns are about many of my friends I grew up with.

Book Transition

Download or read book Transition written by Cornelius Williams and published by . This book was released on 2009-07-01 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the intriguing things about this story is the fact that clones are living with us today. The story revolves around Theodore and his clones. Theodore rises through the Priesthood bringing harmony and World peace. Two unsuspecting doctors develop a near perfect cloning procedure complete with accelerated growth to mimic the donor at any time in his life. The doctors' motives are pure. However, these clones have no soul, no conscience. They commit terrible crimes with no remorse. They drown their children, even set them on fire. The clones have gone into their schools and shot their classmates. Death or pain have no meaning to them. The science of cloning continues. The "research" of body parts cloning provides the cover as harvesting becomes big business. Multi-billion dollar business to be exact. The true Theodore does wonderful things, however his evil clone who has been linked to him through a computer chip takes over and the World is Satan's! During a séance at the NATAS TEMPLE, Satan reveals himself and takes control of one of the doctors. He obtains complete access to the NATAS CHAMBER. Since the clones have no soul or spirit, Satan, (Theodore's Clone) gives them one of his. A spirit of evil, they become his disciples. A methodical plan of the replacement of people with their own clone, one controlled by a microchip directly connected to Satan is enacted. The procedure of implanting "chips" in people for identity safety begins. Without this mark people cannot buy or sell. As Theodore's clone continues to rise in power this practice becomes law. Theodore's clone mimics good and turns it to evil. He assassinates the real Theodore and rises from the "dead" in his place. He eventually claims that he is GOD.

The Demonweb Pits, removed from the Abyss to take its place among the lower planes, is more horrifying than anyone has ever imagined. Teeming with feral spiders bent on ripping each other to pieces—killing, eating, and killing again—the blasted landscape of Lolth’s personal hell is still forming. Quenthel Baenre, with the tattered remnants of her expedition continuing to plot against her, crosses that spider-infested killing ground in hopes of answering the call of her reborn goddess. If she can make it to Lolth’s side, can she even imagine what plans the Queen of the Demonweb Pits has had for her all along? Danifae Yauntyrr—a former battle-captive of House Melarn—has followed Quenthel into the Pits, but even the hellish conditions cannot distract her from her true mission: kill Halisstra Melarn. While Danifae contemplates vengenace, the very target of her burning hatred is not far behind, following her own hidden agenda. Halisstra holds the fabled Crescent Blade, a sword she believes will grant her the power to kill Lolth herself—but only if they find her before she fully completes her own mysterious resurrection.

Book excerpt: The debut of CRANK! stunned the science fiction world with its disregard for obsolete notions of genre fiction, instead insisting on highly individual and imaginative fiction of literary distinction. This book presents the best from CRANK!. Voted One of the Top Ten Original Works of 1998. "If Asimov's SF and Analog are the meat and potatoes of short fiction in this field, Crank! was its Heimlich maneuver. The more we think about it, the more sense it makes that The Best of CRANK! shoved aside top-selling books from this year's most popular authors to claim a space on our Reader's Top Ten list. The only mystery is why it didn't place higher."--The SF Site Reader's Choice Awards At the publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management software (DRM) applied.

Book New Age Neopagan and New Religious Movements

Download or read book New Age Neopagan and New Religious Movements written by Hugh B. Urban and published by University of California Press. This book was released on 2015-09-15 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New Age, Neopagan, and New Religious Movements is the most extensive study to date of modern American alternative spiritual currents. Hugh B. Urban covers a range of emerging religions from the mid-nineteenth century to the present, including the Nation of Islam, Mormonism, Scientology, ISKCON, Wicca, the Church of Satan, Peoples Temple, and the Branch Davidians. This essential text engages students by addressing major theoretical and methodological issues in the study of new religions and is organized to guide students in their learning. Each chapter focuses on one important issue involving a particular faith group, providing readers with examples that illustrate larger issues in the study of religion and American culture. Urban addresses such questions as, Why has there been such a tremendous proliferation of new spiritual forms in the past 150 years, even as our society has become increasingly rational, scientific, technological, and secular? Why has the United States become the heartland for the explosion of new religious movements? How do we deal with complex legal debates, such as the use of peyote by the Native American Church or the practice of plural marriage by some Mormon communities? And how do we navigate issues of religious freedom and privacy in an age of religious violence, terrorism, and government surveillance?

Book excerpt: An honorable, aspiring attorney’s dream job becomes a dishonorable nightmare in this “funny and charming” debut (Gary Shteyngart, author of Lake Success). Sheila Raj is a recent graduate of Columbia Law School with high aspirations of working for the ACLU. When she lands a coveted year-long federal clerkship with legal goddess Judge Helga Friedman, she cannot help but think that her life is destined for jurisprudential greatness. But law school did not prepare Sheila for the sociopath who greets her on her first day, and pushes her to the brink of resignation. It’s only when she’s assigned to a high-profile death penalty case that Sheila realizes that to survive the year as Friedman’s chambermaid—not just her sanity, but actual lives will hang in the balance. Because Prada be damned, “the devil really wears a black robe” (Jill Kargman, author of Momzillas). “In the world of the federal judiciary, where judges are sacrosanct and impervious to criticism, Saira Rao’s deliciously controversial debut novel ranks with mooning the Supreme Court” (The Philadelphia Inquirer). Delivering an outrageous peek into hallowed halls, the “laugh out loud . . . Chambermaid is sure to strike a familiar chord for anyone who’s ever had a jerk for a boss” (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette).

Book Potterversity

  • Pages : 285 pages

Download or read book Potterversity written by Kathryn N. McDaniel and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2023-11-17 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Potterversity: Essays Exploring the World of Harry Potter presents a written companion to the popular, "Hermione-Approved" MuggleNet podcast by the same name. Selected from the top Potter Studies scholars in the field, the diverse authors in the volume provide a range of interpretations of wizarding world stories. Essays include analysis of genre conventions, literary and religious symbolism, the role of games in the series, pedagogical approaches, and politically challenging issues like U.S. race relations, colonialism, and gender and sexuality--including direct attention to J.K. Rowling's controversial statements about trans people. Grouped into the sections "Occult Knowledge," "Ancient Magic," "A Question of Character," "Self and Other," "Playing Potter," and "Teaching, the Hogwarts Way," partnered essays precede transcripts of podcast conversations, led by the hosts of Potterversity. The book's essays and conversations aim to engage not only the mind but the spirit as well--the emotional, personal, and moral responses the Potterverse has evoked in so many people around the world. Fundamentally, this book demonstrates that the characters, stories, and situations of the magical realm promote thinking that helps us navigate our more mundane but no less dangerous world. Perhaps even more importantly, they help us to recognize the magic amid our everyday Muggle realities.
