Book Clinical Electrocardiography Fourth Edition

Download or read book Clinical Electrocardiography Fourth Edition written by Boon Lock Chia and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2015-11-20 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the publication of the 3rd Edition 17 years ago, progress has been truly remarkable in all areas of electrocardiography. Five of the seven chapters in this 4th Edition have been extensively revised. Out of the total of 125 ECGs, 65 are new. Each ECG is crisp and clear and all the abnormalities are highlighted by arrows for easy recognition and understanding. This book is the culmination of the author's 45 years of experience in the teaching of electrocardiography to coronary care unit nurses, medical undergraduates, postgraduates, interns, residents, senior residents and above. As the title of the book implies, the approach to the subject has been entirely from the viewpoint of a clinician. Hence, clinical-electrocardiographic correlations have been emphasized simply and succinctly throughout the text.

Book Clinical Electrocardiography

Download or read book Clinical Electrocardiography written by B. L. Chia and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1998 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the third edition of the book which was first published in 1985. There has been tremendous progress in the last 10 years since the second edition, especially in the electrocardiography of acute myocardial infarction. With the advent of the thrombolytic era, many new insights into the electrocardiography of acute myocardial infarction have emerged. In this new edition, the sections on posterior myocardial infarction, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia and anti-arrhythmic drug therapy have all been updated or revised. One of the strengths of the previous two editions has been the quality of the illustrations. In keeping with this tradition, the illustrations in this third edition have been improved further, with 57 (40%) of the 142 illustrations being new. Books, monographs and scientific papers on electrocardiography abound and it would appear that there is little justification for yet another book on this subject. However, despite the voluminous publications, it is difficult to find books on electrocardiography which are simple, concise, accurate and relevant to patient care. This book is the culmination of about 30 years of experience in the teaching of electrocardiography to coronary-care-unit nurses, medical undergraduates, interns, residents and cardiology registrars. As the title of the book implies, the approach to the subject has been entirely from the viewpoint of a clinician. Hence, theoretical considerations have been kept to a mimimum and clinical-electrocardiographic correlations have been emphasized throughout the text.

Book excerpt: Interpreting an ECG correctly and working out what to do next can seem like a daunting task to the non-specialist, yet it is a skill that will be invaluable to any doctor, nurse, or paramedic when evaluating the condition of a patient. Making Sense of the ECG has been written specifically with this in mind, and will help the student and more experienced healthcare practitioner to identify and answer crucial questions, including: Are these abnormalities significant? How to I distinguish between VT and SVT? Has the patient had a myocardial infarction? How do I measure the QT interval? Should I refer this patient to a cardiologist? This practical, easy-to-read and easy-to-remember guide to the ECG as a tool for diagnosis and management has been fully updated in its fourth edition to reflect the latest guidelines.

Book Textbook of Clinical Electrocardiography

Download or read book Textbook of Clinical Electrocardiography written by Antonio Bayés de Luna and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 521 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last 15 years we have had the opportunity to teach Electrocardiography to many different types of student: doctors preparing to become cardiologists, cardiologists attending weekly 'refresher' sessions at our hospital, general practitioners who wish to become adept at electrocardiography and attend our yearly courses and, finally, the medical students of the Universidad Aut6noma of Barcelona. We cover everything with these students from the basics of electrophysiology to applied electrocardiographic semiology. This quadruple experience has proved stimulating, constantly motivating the search for better and more precise material, and the most appropriate didactic presentation for each type of student, each of whom has different requirements. I have always felt that didactic capability is not related to the intelligence of the professor, or to the amount of knowledge this person possesses, but really depends on the 'quality' of this knowledge, the 'desire' to transmit it and the 'capacity' to adapt to each teaching situation.

Book excerpt: One of the most time-consuming tasks in clinical medicine is seeking the opinions of specialist colleagues. There is a pressure not only to make referrals appropriate but also to summarize the case in the language of the specialist. This book explains basic physiologic and pathophysiologic mechanisms of cardiovascular disease in a straightforward manner, gives guidelines as to when referral is appropriate, and, uniquely, explains what the specialist is likely to do. It is ideal for any hospital doctor, generalist, or even senior medical student who may need a cardiology opinion, or for that ma.

Book Electrocardiographic Imaging

    Book Details:
  • Author : Maria S. Guillem
  • Publisher : Frontiers Media SA
  • Release : 2020-04-17

  • Pages : 178 pages

Download or read book Electrocardiographic Imaging written by Maria S. Guillem and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2020-04-17 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electrical activity in the myocardium coordinates the contraction of the heart, and its knowledge could lead to a better understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiac diseases. This electrical activity generates an electromagnetic field that propagates outside the heart and reaches the human torso surface, where it can be easily measured. Classical electrocardiography aims to interpret the 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) to determine cardiac activity and support the diagnosis of cardiac pathologies such as arrhythmias, altered activations, and ischemia. More recently, a higher number of leads is used to reconstruct a more detailed quantitative description of the electrical activity in the heart by solving the so-called inverse problem of electrocardiography. This technique is known as ECG imaging. Today, clinical applications of ECG imaging are showing promising results in guiding a variety of electrophysiological interventions such as catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia. However, in order to promote the adoption of ECG imaging in the routine clinical practice, further research is required regarding more accurate mathematical methods, further scientific validation under different preclinical scenarios and a more extensive clinical validation
