Les publications à ce sujet sont nombreuses, elles identifient les situations de stress au travail, en mesurent les effets nocifs sur la qualité de vie des chirurgiens-dentistes. Les causes du stress professionnelles sont multiples et reliées entre elles. Les facteurs liés aux évènements professionnels, les caractéristiques démographiques des praticiens. Les facteurs internes liés au trait de caractère font du stress un phénomène multifactoriel et multidimensionnel. L'état de santé physique mais aussi psychologique peuvent-être affectés par le stress perçu au travail. Le burn-out, la dépression et par extension le suicide sont les principaux risques du stress professionnel, il est donc important de les prévenir par des moyens de prévention primaire et par des techniques de réduction du stress. Les enjeux de la prévention sont multiples mais limités par des phénomènes de stigmatisation et socialisation.

Les pertes auditives induites par le bruit apparaissent de manière insidieuse et demeurent irréversibles. L’objectif de ce travail est d’analyser la littérature scientifique afin de déterminer si la profession de chirurgien-dentiste peut conduire à une surdité professionnelle. Matériel et méthodes : Les recherches ont été effectuées sur la base de données Medline avec la requête : (Hearing Loss [Mesh] OR Noise, Occupational [Mesh] OR Deafness [Mesh] OR hear* OR deaf*) AND (Dentists [Mesh] OR dentist OR dentists). Les articles ont été ensuite triés après lecture des titres, abstracts et accessibilité selon des critères d’inclusion et de non inclusion. Résultats : Le tri des articles a abouti à la conservation de 10 articles. La moitié des études met en évidence que la profession de chirurgien-dentiste peut conduire à une surdité professionnelle, et l’autre moitié ne peut pas l’affirmer. Discussion : Le chirurgien-dentiste pourrait être susceptible d’avoir des pertes auditives au cours de sa carrière. Cela dépend de nombreux facteurs tels que son temps de travail quotidien ainsi que la durée de sa carrière. Toutefois, le bruit présent dans les cabinets dentaires pourrait également induire d’autres problèmes sur la sante du praticien tels que du stress et des acouphènes. Un dépistage régulier ainsi que des mesures de prévention comme des protections auditives individuelles pourraient permettre au chirurgien-dentiste de se prémunir face a cette pathologie irréversible

One assumes that progress is concerned primarily with recent developments whilst history deals with matters of the past. However, in the past there has also been considerable progress in the development of our understand ing of paediatric surgical problems, otherwise we would not have pro gressed to our present achievements. The editors, therefore, do not apologize for compiling this volume but, on the contrary, feel that the publication of this volume is most timely. Modern paediatric surgery has now been practised for three genera tions. The handful of pioneers who were the founders of our specialty worked mainly before the last world war. A few dozen of the inter mediary generation started work immediately after the war, while the new generation who are now dominating our specialty must be counted in thousands. Two factors have radically altered paediatric surgery as practised by the intermediary and the present generation of surgeons.

This discerning insight, which dates back more than 2000years to Aristotle, seems to have been ignored by most psycholo gists. For more than 40years theories of human action have assumed that cogni tion and action are merely two sides of the same coin. Approaches as different as S-O-R behaviorism,social learning theory, consistency theories,and expectancy value theories of motivation and decision making have one thing in common: they all assume that "thought (or any other type of cognition) can move any thing," that there is a direct path from cognition to behavior. In recent years, we have become more and more aware of the complexities in volved in the relationship between cognition and behavior. People do not always do what they intend to do. Aside from several nonpsychological factors capable of reducing cognition-behavior consistency, there seems to be a set of complex psychological mechanisms which intervene between action-related cognitions, such as beliefs, expectancies, values, and intentions,and the enactment of the be havior suggested by those cognitions. In our recent research we have focused on volitional mechanismus which presumably enhance cognition-behavior consistency by supporting the main tenance of activated intentions and prevent them from being pushed aside by competing action tendencies.
