Book excerpt: You can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy. For Ted Shannon, growing up in the bayou bottom backwoods of Arkansas was like growing up in a storybook. It was his paradise, and he couldn't imagine living anywhere else. So when his family moved into town, his young life was changed forever. Ted felt lost in so many ways. Like a wild animal trapped in a zoo, Ted roamed through his new life without direction, confidence, or the security of familiar surroundings and ways. Slowly, he adapted to his new world and tried his best to accept this new reality. And through it all, he vowed to never betray the "code of the backwoods"-God, country, family, and finally self-the code he had been reared to honor. He believed in the "Good Book" and really tried to live a good life, but the temptations of the big city were more than this country boy could handle. He wrestled with God's command to take just one mate for all of his life and despite his most honorable intentions, found that circumstances just kept getting in the way-again and again and again. He really meant to honor his wedding vows and was stunned when he learned that his wife couldn't return the courtesy. Apparently, circumstances got in her way too. Now Ted has to fight to find the equilibrium between the "good life" and the life his new world has to offer.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A deliciously charming novel about finding true love . . . and yourself. Nothing ever happens in Little, CA. Which is just the way 17-year-old Carter Moon likes it. But when Hollywood arrives to film a movie starring former child star-turned public relations mess Adam Jakes, everything changes. Utterly annoyed, Carter feels like the only girl not buying what Hollywood's selling. Then Carter gets an offer she can't refuse: play the part of Adam's girlfriend while he's in Little, to improve his public image, and take home a hefty paycheck, which her family desperately needs. So instead of a summer hanging out with friends and working, Carter begrudgingly poses for the tabloids but soon finds that Adam isn't who she thought. Worse yet, she might actually be falling for him. As they grow closer, their relationship walks a blurry line between what's real and what's fake; and Carter must open her eyes to the scariest of unexplored worlds - her future. Can Carter figure out what she wants out of life AND get the boy? Or are there no Hollywood endings in real life?

That question has haunted Daniel Knight since he was thirteen, when he and ten-year-old Brigitte escaped the Gestapo agents who arrested both their parents. They survived a harrowing journey from Germany to England, only to be separated upon their arrival. Daniel vowed to find Brigitte after the war, a promise he has fought to fulfill for more than seventy years. Now a wealthy old man, Daniel’s final hope in finding Brigitte rests with Quenby Vaughn, an American journalist working in London. He believes Quenby’s tenacity to find missing people and her personal investment in a related WWII espionage story will help her succeed where previous investigators have failed. Though Quenby is wrestling her own demons—and wary at the idea of teaming up with Daniel’s lawyer, Lucas Hough—the lure of Brigitte’s story is too much to resist. Together, Quenby and Lucas delve deep into the past, following a trail of deception, sacrifice, and healing that could change all of their futures. A 2018 Christy Award finalist!

Book excerpt: Originally, Sparta was an all-male planet - an all-male population with everything that implies: babies - male babies only - produced by the so-called Birth Machine from an almost unending supply of fertilized ova brought by Sparta's founding father, a dyed-in-the-wool misogynist. But unnatural situations rarely stand the test of time, and it wasn't too long before Sparta bowed to Mother Nature. But there was still something rather strange about Sparta when John Grimes landed there to await the arrival of his beloved ship Sister Sue. It seemed to him that among the recently transplanted women of Sparta, there was a strange movement afoot. And when the Archon was kidnapped by a group of militant women the press claimed were men, he knew he couldn't just stand by and watch!

Their first assignment was blockade-running, to bring antibiotics to the plague-ridden humans on Antrim, besieged by the Halicheki bird-people and ignored by the Empire. Only, this would be a ticklish business for they could not fire one shot at the Halicheki without being legally termed pirates. And although the ex-Empress and her husband were open-minded enough to try all sorts of devious tricks, the prospect of being hanged for piracy by the Empress' successor did not appeal to either of their natures...
