Book Captage et stockage du CO2

Download or read book Captage et stockage du CO2 written by Minh Ha-Duong and published by Editions Quae. This book was released on 2010-02-08 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Le captage du CO2 written by Fabrice Lecomte and published by Editions TECHNIP. This book was released on 2009-10 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book Carbon Capture and Storage

Download or read book Carbon Capture and Storage written by José Carlos Magalhães Pires and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-08-23 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Climate change is one of the main threats to modern society. This phenomenon is associated with an increase in greenhouse gas (GHGs, mainly carbon dioxide—CO2) emissions due to anthropogenic activities. The main causes are the burning of fossil fuels and land use change (deforestation). Climate change impacts are associated with risks to basic needs (health, food security, and clean water), as well as risks to development (jobs, economic growth, and the cost of living). The processes involving CO2 capture and storage are gaining attention in the scientific community as an alternative for decreasing CO2 emissions, reducing its concentration in ambient air. The carbon capture and storage (CCS) methodologies comprise three steps: CO2 capture, CO2 transportation, and CO2 storage. Despite the high research activity within this topic, several technological, economic, and environmental issues as well as safety problems remain to be solved, such as the following needs: increase of CO2 capture efficiency, reduction of process costs, and verification of the environmental sustainability of CO2 storage.

Book Carbon Capture

Download or read book Carbon Capture written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reports on methods of capturing and storing CO2 from major sources to reduce the levels emitted to the atmosphere by human activities. Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is the only method available for reducing CO2 emissions while allowing continued use of fossil fuels, both for power generation and potentially in broader contexts. Carbon capture technologies are already playing a role in reducing emissions from large sources such as power stations. Carbon capture could potentially tackle these emissions, either by use of photosynthetic organisms to fix carbon, providing a biomass energy source or by direct capture from the air. Various potential options are available for carbon storage, including geological, mineral and ocean storage. This book describes the current options available and discusses the potential for future CCS strategies.

Book Carbon Capture and Storage

Download or read book Carbon Capture and Storage written by Steve A. Rackley and published by Gulf Professional Publishing. This book was released on 2009-09-10 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS) is a technology aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions from burning fossil fuels during industrial and energy-related processes. CCS involves the capture, transport and long-term storage of carbon dioxide, usually in geological reservoirs deep underground that would otherwise be released to the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide capture and storage offers important possibilities for making further use of fossil fuels more compatible with climate change mitigation policies. The largest volumes of CO2 could be captured from large point sources such as from power generation, which alone accounts for about 40 per cent of total anthropogenic CO2 emissions. The development of capture technologies in the power generation sector could be particularly important in view of the projected increase in demand for electricity in fast developing countries with enormous coal reserves (IEA 2002a). Although, this prospect is promising, more research is needed to overcome several hurdles such as important costs of capture technology and the match of large capture sources with adequate geological storage sites. The book will provide a comprehensive, detailed but non-specialist overview of the wide range of technologies involved in carbon dioxide capture and sequestration. Focuses on technology rather than regulation and cost Covers both traditional and cutting edge capture technology Contains an abundance of case-studies an worked out examples Insight into CSS technical processes
