Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A deeply touching and uplifting view of the world through different eyes, and a roadmap to finding bliss in the simplest of things. Zena Cooper lives a full life, in which she uses her senses to examine and explore the world around her. She does all that without one thing many of us take for granted: sight. Born with Marfan syndrome, a connective tissue disorder that means she is almost completely blind, Zena kept the extent of her condition hidden from the world for four decades. That was until Munch - a guide dog full of personality - took up residence in her life and, almost overnight, a disability she had been hiding for years was suddenly clear for all to see. What You See When You Can't See follows Zena's journey in accepting her limitations. A qualified integrative counsellor, she shares her unique model to reset negative thought patterns, along with tools to help anyone reshape their narrative. Zena asks her readers to find beauty in their own adversity. With Munch at the heart of her experience, this book explores the possibility of an amplified life, no matter your circumstances.

Book Fish Can t See Water

Download or read book Fish Can t See Water written by Kai Hammerich and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-09-03 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How national culture impacts organizational culture—and business success Using extensive case studies of successful global corporations, this book explores the impact of national culture on the corporate strategy and its execution, and through this ultimately business success—or failure. It does not argue that different cultures lead to different business results, but that all cultures impact organizations in ways both positive and negative, depending on the business cycle, the particular business, and the particular strategies being pursued. Depending on all of these factors, cultural dynamics can either enable or derail performance. But recognizing those cultural factors is difficult for business leaders; like everyone else, they too can be blind to the culture of which they are a part. The book offers managers and leaders eight recommendations for recognizing those cultural factors that negatively impact performance, as well as those that can be harnessed to encourage superior performance. With real case studies from companies in Asia, Europe, and the United States, this book offers a truly global approach to organizational culture. Offers a fresh approach to the effects of national culture on organizational culture that is applicable to any country in any region Based on case studies of such companies as Toyota, Samsung, General Motors, Nokia, Walmart, Kone and British Leyland It describes the origins and nature of the most common corporate crisis and how culture impacts the response to such a crisis Ideal for managers, business leaders, and board members, as well as business school students A welcome response to the flat-Earth fad that argues we're all alike, this book offers a nuanced and practical view of cultural differentiators and how they can enable or derail business performance.

This book was released on 2018-10-08 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We need spontaneous road trips. We would do well to have the agendas, routines, and plans stripped away from time to time so we can discover. Discovery is important. It is energy, inertia, and propulsion for the soul in a world that has become accustomed with fast food, microwaves, and the express lane. This does not mean we need to live willy-nilly, haphazard, and operating from the seat of our pants, but every now and then it breathes new life.

Book Can t See the Wood for the Trees

Download or read book Can t See the Wood for the Trees written by Alison Smith and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2018-08-21 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A guide to using the metaphorical language of a “stuck” situation to discover the solution • Shares an easy, fun process of exploring well-known sayings as a means to identify new solutions and get unstuck in life and work • Explains how to bring clarity to a problem, highlight alternative perspectives, bypass any conscious resistance to finding a solution, and allow solutions to emerge organically, from within ourselves • Details the author’s “Landscaping Your Life” method, which has been used successfully in business strategy development, team development, project problem resolution, and in one-to-one coaching If you can’t see the wood for the trees, feel like a fish out of water, or are going around in circles, we’ve got good news for you: that saying is also a clue to where you’ll find the solution. Yes, you read right--you can use the language you’re using to describe the stuck situation to discover the solution. It’s not even the language as much as the landscape contained within your description of the situation that can give you pointers. As Alison Smith explains, “If a picture paints a thousand words, then a metaphor paints a thousand pictures. In other words, the metaphor in the saying you’re using will provide a million words that will undoubtedly have the solution contained within them.” That’s what this book is all about--taking these sayings that you’re using to describe being stuck and using them to get unstuck again. The language you apply provides clues to how you perceive the current situation. Subconsciously, you know the solution. Exploring the metaphors contained within your language allows your subconscious to communicate to your conscious awareness more easily. The metaphor reduces resistance and the barriers we put up to change. It’s as if we enjoy exploring the metaphor and forget what it means in reality, and before we know it, we have a metaphorical solution that we cannot help but translate into real life. Offering an effective, easy process based on the power of metaphors, Alison Smith introduces her “Landscaping Your Life” method as a means to bring clarity to a problem, highlight alternative perspectives, and allow solutions to emerge organically, from within ourselves.

Returning from a holiday in Mexico with his wife, Sara, he develops stomach pains and heads to the hospital with what seems to be a case of severe constipation. He is diagnosed with terminal colon cancer and given six months to live. In this true story, Darren’s diagnosis changes his life, but he doesn’t let it stop him from living. He becomes an empowered and involved patient, working closely with his doctors in carrying out his treatment plans, and continues an active lifestyle that includes daily hot yoga, scuba diving, hunting, socializing, travel, and getting the most out of every day. Always adventurous, cancer makes him even more ambitious. Darren shows that even with a terminal diagnosis, there are ways to thrive and live an incredible life. He makes a special point of recounting the support he’s received, personally thanking friends, family, and health care professionals—every person who made his and Sara’s journey better. His story will inspire and motivate patients faced with challenging treatment regimens, as well as help friends and family members of people undergoing difficult medical treatment better understand how to support their loved ones. Darren’s perseverance and optimism make You Can’t See My Scars about much more than cancer; this is a story about how to approach life and death, and a meditation on the power of positivity, gratitude, community, a deeply loving spousal partnership. Net proceeds received from the sale of this book will be donated to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Darren Cosentino Memorial Fund.

Book All Those Tears We Can t See

Download or read book All Those Tears We Can t See written by Gita Audhya and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2020-03-15 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We can see clearly the differences between beliefs and way of life in each country and can begin to understand the challenges immigrants face in this era. It was difficult and traumatic for Samantha (The immigrant in my book) to leave everything behind and start a new life where the language, culture, traditions, morals, beliefs and everyday way of life are totally foreign and then assimilate into a new country while still retaining her own culture and beliefs. The story follows Samantha (or Shimonti as she was known as a child) as she races to her native India, now modern, in search of her daughter, Monica. Their fragile relationship of late has finally been shattered over interracial marriage, because Samantha fears that it will end her Bengali culture. Samantha revisits her past and re-examines her life growing up in India and then immigrating to the United States where Life was extremely hard at first, but was later fulfilled by achieving the American dream. Her daughter Monica, now a journalist, was all-American in heart, but she was partially wrong. Monica was fascinated by Indian people and their spirituality. Later she faced physical assault in India and Samantha seeks justice for her daughter. The silver lining in this book is when Samantha thought she should embrace and accept Brandon as her son-in-law, who was Christian, realizing her daughter’s happiness should come first, before her own happiness, but would she? The messages brought forth about the beauty of love and the evil of rape came across through the pages in my book.

Book Can t See the Forest for the Trees

Download or read book Can t See the Forest for the Trees written by Eldon Adams and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2022-11-15 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Sometimes the deepest knowledge of God comes from those who had to trust in Him the most” What does this book’s title, “Can’t See the Forest for the Trees” imply? A simple answer is: • The ‘Forest’ is symbolic of God’s Plan, revealed in Bible scripture with all of its mystery to be understood and fulfilled with steadfast belief, faith and trust in the power of the Holy Trinity: God (the Father), Jesus Christ (the Son), and the Holy Spirit (one for all, all for one). God’s Plan is a work in progress nearing fulfillment. • The ‘Trees’ are symbolic of obstacles, like gullibility, false teaching, false prophesy, false doctrine, apostasy, hate, lying, deceit, evil, love-of-money, blind speculation and the like; all of which are growing rampant in the United States. • The message reveals Spiritual Blindness as a curse that God has imposed upon His Church for their lack of true faith in Him (not unlike the Israelites), as they turn away from the New Covenant Law, blindly accepting unsuspected guidance from Satan, to employ worldly ways and promote apostasy. By misguided faith some may be unprotected by the “Armor of God”, and their failing to cultivate the Fruit of the Spirit makes matters worse. The author is hopeful that his book will bring awareness of spiritual blindness, to summon a repentant reaction for ‘restoration’ of religious understanding and direction in line with God’s real purpose.
