Download or read book The Camino written by Shirley MacLaine and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2000-05-16 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It has been nearly three decades since Shirley MacLaine commenced her brave and public commitment to chronicling her personal quest for spiritual understanding. In testament to the endurance and vitality of her message, each of her eight legendary bestsellers -- from Don't Fall Off the Mountain to My Lucky Stars -- continues today to attract, dazzle, and transform countless new readers. Now Shirley is back -- with her most breathtakingly powerful and unique book yet. This is the story of a journey. It is the eagerly anticipated and altogether startling culmination of Shirley MacLaine's extraordinary -- and ultimately rewarding -- road through life. The riveting odyssey began with a pair of anonymous handwritten letters imploring Shirley to make a difficult pilgrimage along the Santiago de Compostela Camino in Spain. Throughout history, countless illustrious pilgrims from all over Europe have taken up the trail. It is an ancient -- and allegedly enchanted -- pilgrimage. People from St. Francis of Assisi and Charlemagne to Ferdinand and Isabella to Dante and Chaucer have taken the journey, which comprises a nearly 500-mile trek across highways, mountains and valleys, cities and towns, and fields. Now it would be Shirley's turn. For Shirley, the Camino was both an intense spiritual and physical challenge. A woman in her sixth decade completing such a grueling trip on foot in thirty days at twenty miles per day was nothing short of remarkable. But even more astounding was the route she took spiritually: back thousands of years, through past lives to the very origin of the universe. Immensely gifted with intelligence, curiosity, warmth, and a profound openness to people and places outside her own experience, Shirley MacLaine is truly an American treasure. And once again, she brings her inimitable qualities of mind and heart to her writing. Balancing and negotiating the revelations inspired by the mysterious energy of the Camino, she endured her exhausting journey to Compostela until it gradually gave way to a far more universal voyage: that of the soul. Through a range of astonishing and liberating visions and revelations, Shirley saw into the meaning of the cosmos, including the secrets of the ancient civilizations of Atlantis and Lemuria, insights into human genesis, the essence of gender and sexuality, and the true path to higher love. With rich insight, humility, and her trademark grace, Shirley MacLaine gently leads us on a sacred adventure toward an inexpressibly transcendent climax. The Camino promises readers the journey of a thousand lifetimes.

Book Sauntering the Spiritual Variant of the Camino de Santiago

Download or read book Sauntering the Spiritual Variant of the Camino de Santiago written by Kenneth Cline and published by Mot-Mot Publishing. This book was released on 2021-05-27 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What's so "spiritual" about the Spiritual Variant? A lot, it turns out. The author and his wife spent five days walking - and boating - along this side trail to the Portuguese Way of the Camino de Santiago. They visited two large monasteries, at Poio and Armenteira, both of which offer accommodations to pilgrims and peaceful surroundings that invite spiritual reflection. A boat ride up the Ulla River from the seaport of Vilanova de Arousa invoked the spirit of the Translatio, the legendary transport of St. James' body from Palestine to Spain in the first century. The scenery of Spain's O Salnés region proved an added bonus, with charming fishing villages, forested mountains, and expansive vineyards in the Albariño wine country. The Clines found the "Route of Stone and Water" particularly captivating, with its waterfalls, abandoned corn mills and rain forest-like vegetation. Join Kenneth and Bina as they experience the sights and sounds of the Spiritual Variant. Part travel journal and part guidebook, this book includes historical research on how the route got its name, as well as practical information about places to eat and sleep along the way.

Book The Camino Made Easy Reflections of a Parador Pilgrim

Download or read book The Camino Made Easy Reflections of a Parador Pilgrim written by Olivia Pittet and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2018-11-21 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Camino Made Easy: Reflections of a Parador Pilgrim relates three fascinating, culturally rich journeys on the Way of St. James, or the Camino, through Spain and Portugal to Santiago de Compostela. This personal, practical, and informational story testifies to the advantages of doing the Camino on a walking tour, while offering fresh perspectives on this long-distance medieval pilgrimage route for pilgrims and tourists alike. Olivia Pittet describes stunningly varied landscapes, including the Basque country, the Rioja wine region, and Celtic Galicia, as well as the World Heritage cities of Burgos, León, and Santiago, while gradually unfolding the Camino’s extraordinary cultural legacy and religious history, its present-day relevance, and its enduring appeal. She recalls what it was like to walk over one hundred miles on each journey, interweaving her Chaucer-style interactions with her fellow pilgrims, her love of landscape, and her special interest as a former medievalist in the Camino’s literature and legends. Olivia also interjects her own tale, tracing her unexpected spiritual journey from its initial stumbling blocks to a developing sense of pilgrimage the closer she came to Santiago, where there are as many answers waiting to be found as there are ways of walking the Camino. Beautifully written and deeply felt, this rich fusion of pilgrimage and personal narrative, landscape and cultural legacy, literature and legend vibrantly re-creates the Camino anew.

Book ALIMENTO ESPIRITUAL PARA UN ALMA QUE BUSCA

Download or read book ALIMENTO ESPIRITUAL PARA UN ALMA QUE BUSCA written by PADRE JOSEPH BELLERIVE, JCD. and published by Author House. This book was released on 2014 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
