Book Calibration of Road Roughness Measuring Equipment

Download or read book Calibration of Road Roughness Measuring Equipment written by and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume I: Experimental Investigation, documents an extensive series of measurements of the performance of a commercial inertial road profiling system (IRPS) and a commercial response-type road roughness measurement (RTRRM) system. Based upon the results of these measurements and upon an analysis of the operation of such equipment, calibration and testing guides, given in the Volume II were developed to assist users in assessment of IRPS and RTRRM functionality and operating performance.

Book Guidelines for Conducting and Calibrating Road Roughness Measurements

Download or read book Guidelines for Conducting and Calibrating Road Roughness Measurements written by Michael W. Sayers and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Road roughness is gaining increasing importance as an indicator of road condition, both in terms of pavement performance, and as a major determinant of road user costs. This paper defines roughness measurement systems hierachically into four groups, ranging from profilometric methods (2 groups), through response type road roughness measuring systems (RTRRMS's), and, subjective evaluation. The International Roughness Index (IRI) is defined, and the programs for it's calculation are provided. The IRI is based on simulation of the roughness response of a car travelling at 80 km/h. The report explains how all roughness measurements can be related to this scale, also when travelling at lower speeds than 80 km/h. The IRI emerges as a scale that can be used both for calibration and for comparative purposes.

Book Sustainability Eco efficiency and Conservation in Transportation Infrastructure Asset Management

Download or read book Sustainability Eco efficiency and Conservation in Transportation Infrastructure Asset Management written by Massimo Losa and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2014-04-28 with total page 806 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Worldwide there is a growing interest in efficient planning and the design, construction and maintenance of transportation facilities and infrastructure assets. The 3rd International Conference on Transportation Infrastructure ICTI 2014 (Pisa, April 22-25, 2014) contains contributions on sustainable development and preservation of transportation infrastructure assets, with a focus on eco-efficient and cost-effective measures. Sustainability, Eco-efficiency and Conservation in Transportation Infrastructure Asset Management includes a selection of peer reviewed papers on a wide variety of topics: • Advanced modeling tools (LCA, LCC, BCA, performance prediction, design tools and systems) • Data management (monitoring and evaluation) • Emerging technologies and equipments • Innovative strategies and practices • Environmental sustainability issues • Eco-friendly design and materials • Re-use or recycling of resources • Pavements, tracks, and structures • Case studies Sustainability, Eco-efficiency and Conservation in Transportation Infrastructure Asset Management will be particularly of interest to academics, researchers, and practitioners involved in sustainable development and maintenance of transportation infrastructure assets.
