Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have You Lost Your Mind Yet?If you have then congratulations. It's about time, you needed to lose it. It's your independence day. You're not alone, because we are all crazy. Not until we are lost can we really find ourselves. All of us are here trying to figure out life and losing our minds doing it. Life is a tragedy for those who feel and a comedy for those who think. I'm strong because I've known my weaknesses. I laugh because I've known sadness. I'm wise because I've been foolish. I am alive because I'm a fighter. Live without fear, confront all obstacles, and know that you can over come them. You should dream what you want to dream, go where you want to go, and be what you want to be. You only have one life and one chance to do all the things you dream of. The ONLY job you are here to do on Earth is be yourself. Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger. Don't pray for tasks to equal your powers. Pray for powers to equal your tasks. You may not end up where you want to be, but you will end up where you are supposed to be, even if you don't like it. Life is a roller coaster. You can choose to scream the entire time or enjoy the ride. We are all here for the human experience. So enjoy the experiences of everything good and bad. I have learned to embrace life with everything it sends. Please don't run from it, but try to learn from it and become better. I've found if you love life, it'll love you back. Peace, Love and Hugs Natalie Newman

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The unfiltered story of Shane Burke, a simple man who broke the cycle of trauma and created a beautiful life from nothing. You will laugh, you will cry; you will feel hope and sadness. A memoir written by the love of his life, Sheila, wife of 32 years, this book was born on the advice of their adult children, a hospice social worker, and good friends. Over the years, Shane learned to grapple with patience, generate a positive attitude, and rally support for the underdogs of the world-even during the most difficult times of his life. He found humor in everything and always aimed to enjoy life, and greatly encouraged others to do the same. He was a man who beat the odds all his life until cancer came calling. In his youth, he picked himself up and became the example he was missing of what a good person should be and showed the world what that looked like. And approaching his death, he gifted us a glimpse behind the veil. His experiences were a comfort to him and his family until his last breath. His story teaches us how to live-as well as how to die-with courage, dignity, and grace. BULLSH*T TO BUTTERFLIES will make you think. About your own death and enduring the death of those you love greatly. Shane's story is a good reminder to cherish every moment we have in this world-and those whom we love in it. Through all the turmoil this man endured in his life, he kept going until he simply couldn't go anymore. What those who loved him realized is that he was always teaching. Always learning. Always curious. Always grateful. When forced to face his own mortality, none of that changed. This is the very real story of a very ordinary man. He could just as well be you or I.This is a book for people who want to understand the plight of cancer, the challenges of facing death, and how to comfort the dying. You will take away much more than the story of this man. You will glean information on how to have a good death for yourself or for someone you love.

Book You Ain t Gonna Believe This But

Download or read book You Ain t Gonna Believe This But written by Stanley S. McGowen and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2004 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of short stories is intended to illustrate a more humorous glimpse of a soldier's life in Vietnam. It's of the times when boredom and a fertile imagination often lead to amusing situations, rather than the "blood and guts" of combat. All the narratives in this book, saves one, are true, or at least were presented to the author as fact. Some are without a doubt true, as they happened to the author. Other Vietnam veterans related the remainder of the yarns, swearing that each and every detail was unquestioningly genuine. We all know that combat veterans do not lie but their memories may, nevertheless recall their experiences slightly altered from actual events. Perusing these stories the reader might logically conclude that ego or passing years might, just possibly, influence a few of the bone-chilling tales. GI's live through numerous happenstances that are not heroic but are embarrassing or mundane. No matter how cynical a GI becomes, some events, maybe only in retrospect, are viewed as ironic or downright funny. These random experiences are what the book are about.

Book I ll Visit You As A Butterfly

Download or read book I ll Visit You As A Butterfly written by Logan Emery Emerson and published by Zabbit Rambi. This book was released on 2023-11-04 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In “I’ll Visit You As A Butterfly,” one man’s battle for life becomes a battle for death. What good is money when it can’t buy health? When there’s nothing left of love but memories, what do we live for? How much suffering can we force ourselves to withstand to avoid letting go? A wealthy old man in his cliffside home seeks answers to the universe, his past, and his lack of future in this thought-provoking, awe-inspiring short story. A bright mind in a dying disease-ridden body, he must make a choice: Will he live for two years and suffer a harrowing, painful death at the whim of a terminal illness? Or will he turn to technology to alleviate his suffering? On his laptop is the following message: YOU WILL BE ASKED TWO QUESTIONS. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT BY ANSWERING “YES” EACH TIME, YOU WILL DIE? Will he have the courage to find his own version of peace? And if courage fails him, will technology prevail? Dark and insightful, yet somehow hopeful, “I’ll Visit You As A Butterfly” will make you question what you think you know about life, loss, and stolen futures.

Book Country of Exiles

Download or read book Country of Exiles written by William R. Leach and published by Vintage. This book was released on 2011-08-10 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Country of Exiles, William Leach, whose Land of Desire was a finalist for the National Book Award, explores the troubling effects of our national love affair with mobility. He shows us how the impulse to pull up stakes and find a new frontier has always battled with the need to put down roots, and how a new cosmopolitanism has seized our national identity. Leach takes us across a featureless America, where strip malls homogenize a once varied and majestic landscape, and where casinos displace the Native American spiritual connection to the land. He shows us a culture where everyone, from CEOs to office temps, abandons the notion of company loyalty, and where rootless academics posit a world without borders. With compelling vision and insight, Leach reveals the profound but often hidden impact of America's disintegrating sense of place on our national and individual psyche.

A product of William Leach's lifelong love of butterflies, this engaging and elegantly illustrated history shows how Americans from all walks of life passionately pursued butterflies, and how through their discoveries and observations they transformed the character of natural history. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Paging Dr. Lilly O'Shea. Paging Dr. Lilly O'Shea." Even through the blissful darkness of sleep, I hear the voice on the intercom calling me. I want to scream, "I hear you, I hear you!" I jump up from the dingy cot in the doctor's lounge and grab the phone; "Dr O'Shea, what do ya need?" "Dr O'Shea, we got a MVA coming in, multiple vics", this from the operator. "Ya, be right there", I reply. I just left the E.R. less than 30 minutes ago, and here I am on my way back. I hate it and I love it. This is the life for me. I chose to become a doctor, and an E.R. doc at that. Did I do it because I love helping people? Nah, not exactly. It was the one profession that would require my complete undivided attention when at work and it's a total opposite of the profession, if that's what you call it, of my crime boss father and his two loyal sons. Yes, my father is what you might call a don. The head of a violent, but successful mafia syndicate. My brothers both work for him; both hoping to succeed him. How my mother deals with it all; I'll never know. Actually, that's a lie; I know how she deals with it. She simply chooses to ignore it, the whole thing; like it doesn't exist. You would think that my parents would be so proud of me, a doctor. Worked hard, got good grads, graduated from one of the top colleges in the country; and then turned around and graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Medical School; at the top of my class, of course. Funny, but my father, David, actually thought I would follow in his footsteps. Early on I demonstrated a penance for violence; cold blooded, heartless, malicious violence. Just like Daddy; boy was he proud that day. Dr. Lilly O' Shea is successful, weathly and beautiful. She is also the daughter of David O'Shea; head of the largest Black crime syndicate family on the east coast. What more can she ask for? Well, maybe peace of mind. Journey with her as she fights to stay out of the family business, while battling her own bloodlust for violence, her own stone dragon. Will she win the fight and, unlike her two brothers, stay away from Daddy and his 'family business'. Or will she succumb to the lure of the dark recesses of society, allowing her own penance for violence overcome her? Like a dying man caught in the ocean's riptide; will Dr. Lilly O'Shea, doctor, healer, saver of lives survive?
